You should note, bluegrass, who used to post here is a personal friend of Eustace Mullin. Eustace told him early on that Willis Carto was an ADL plant for Spotlight. The adventures of Christopher Bollyn and his witnesses seem to bare out this observation....

Yes, he chose not to run again for his Senate seat, after two terms, when he became aware of all the corruption going on there.

He's a good guy and a patriot.

Thanks for the info Lod!

I will do some homework on him. Bet there's some Youtube stuff out there... I'll have a look.

Thanks!

I have no pre-conceived opinions on Gravel, other than, my impressions and opinions formed in the debates I watched. A good friend of mine taught me a valuable lesson: Read it all; one is free to accept or reject what they like.

Imagine that. Giving yourself permission, and the motivation to do so.

A freeing process to wakeup ones OWN thought process.

Read Daniel Ellsberg's Secrets. It presents a very favorable picture of Gravel, as the one senator who dared to reveal the Pentagon Papers.

To reason, indeed, he was not in the habit of attending. His mode of arguing, if it is to be so called, was one not uncommon among dull and stubborn persons, who are accustomed to be surrounded by their inferiors. He asserted a proposition; and, as often as wiser people ventured respectfully to show that it was erroneous, he asserted it again, in exactly the same words, and conceived that, by doing so, he at once disposed of all objections. - Macaulay, "History of England," Vol. 1, Chapter 6, on James II.

Those who hate Jews per se will have to come to terms that Justin Raimondo is a dyed in the wool Jew lover.

Most of those people also hate homosexuals, so I doubt if they'll care that Raimondo doesn't hate Jews.

I wonder what they make of the fact that Michael Rivero, for one, is a Jew.

I wouldn't call him a populist..as it had its routes from 1930's Jewish socialist movement grown out during the Dust Bowl.

I can't agree with this. Jewish Marxist groups were mostly urban and started to gain momentum in the early 20th century (in addition to Jews, Socialist parties won a lot of recruits from immigrant industrial laborers from southern and eastern Europe).

American Populism was mostly rural and home-growth: the free silver movement was started not by Jews but by debt-ridden farmers in the South and Midwest back in the late 19th century. They tended to be religious and nativist as well as populist and anti-banker, and their legacy pretty much ended with Huey Long.

When goods and people no longer cross boarders, soldiers and tanks will.

That's a cliche that you hear all the time from free-traders, but it doesn't hold much water. If we slapped a well-deserved tariff on Mexican goods, do you really think that the all-powerful Mexican Army would send troops and tanks across the border?

The Dust Bowl troubadour and Socialist activist, Woody Guthrie...

Woody Guthrie’s Songs For ‘Bubbe’

Son-in-law of Aliza “Bubbe” Greenblatt, a respected Yiddish songwriter and ardent Zionist.

And now, revealed for the first time, composer of dozens of Jewish-themed songs — including a bunch about Chanukah — while he was living in Coney Island.

These long-buried songs will be performed for the first time Saturday night at a special concert at the 92nd Street Y called “Holy Ground: The Jewish Songs of Woody Guthrie.”

The show will feature Guthrie’s Jewish lyrics set to music by The Klezmatics. Special guest is Guthrie’s oldest son, Arlo, who will sing a song written by the Jewish grandmother who helped raise him and his siblings.

The event is the brainchild of Nora Guthrie, Woody’s daughter, and director of the Woody Guthrie Archive in Midtown.

Sitting in her office, Nora, a handsome woman with long, curly, salt-and-pepper hair, explains the project is designed to explore and honor the unlikely bond between her grandmother, the Orthodox Jewish songwriter and Yiddish poet, and her father, the Oklahoma Christian troubadour.

“Yes, but is this good for Jews?"

Marxist groups co-opted and hijacked native populist and agrarian movements for their own purposes. That doesn't change the fact that populism and agrarianism has native American (not in the PC sense) roots.

The back story of “Wonder Wheel” is one of chance meetings and the preordained – beshert – as Guthrie's mother-in-law, staunch Zionist and labor activist Aliza Greenblatt, would have said.

When he came east in the 1940s, Guthrie married Marjorie Mazia, one of Martha Graham’s modern dancers. Mazia was the daughter of acclaimed Yiddish poet Greenblatt. And Guthrie and Greenblatt came to discover that they were kindred spirits of sorts, as the Midwesterner soaked in the diversity of his Coney Island neighborhood and talked politics and social justice with his outspoken mother-in-law. Fast-forward a few decades. When violinist Itzhak Perlman introduced the New York-based klezmer ensemble to Guthrie’s daughter, Nora, who now manages her father’s archives, found the group to revive Guthrie’s passionate cry for social justice. For the Klezmatics, who frequently wear progressive politics on their sleeves, setting Guthrie’s words to the neo-klezmer style they’ve made popular, seemed a perfect fit.

“[Nora Guthrie] was someone interested in human rights, who was a spiritual person,” Sklamberg said. “And Woody Guthrie was a spiritual person, certainly well read as far as the Bible goes. And through [Greenblatt’s] influence, he ended up focusing on early books of the Bible, the Torah.” Those ideals come through in his songs.

“There are songs about anti-fascism and kids’ songs that used little yiddishisms and other material that just basically filtered through Woody’s own linguistic sensibility and his own particular quirky style of writing,” Sklamberg noted.

“Yes, but is this good for Jews?"

No problem. There seems, or seemed, to be a growing interest in a possible Paul/Gravel ticket among certain antiwar groups but it's likely more wishful thinking than anything else. I don't really see an avenue for it, in a third party sense, to herd enough cats to make it possible. It'd be nice, but... the philosophical clash would be a huge hurdle.

MP3 here. (58:54)

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm 1/3 through the first MP3, and so far, even if the rest of the interview goes badly, I LIKE the way he is thinking on how to end the war.

The strategy he lays out sounds awesome, with the daily votes, cancelled vacations/trips, and what the House could do to proceed with impeachment. And explains WHYYYYY this is important NOW. Then a followup resolution removing the Presidents power to pardon those associated with the lies. (paraphrasing here). It sounds as if the Libby commutation could never have happened, had the HOUSE, focused early in the year. (My note, the voters position on staying the course, sent the GOP packing (along with immigration)... there was/is no better time than NOW, to move forward.)

Further he illustrates how Sirrica (sp) cracked the nut sentencing the little guys associated with the break in to 30 years... That started the rats jumping ship. (Note: which meets my Learn something every day goal.. lol)

This sounds brilliant to me.

And explains why Pelosi says impeachment is off the table. House can still proceed for the good of the people... doesn't matter what the Senate messes around with.... they are delaying what CAN be done by spending so much time with the Gonzales issue, etc. He says, drop it, and move in for what really matters. Soldiers are dying EVERY DAY.

Awesome. I like the way he slows the interviewer down as well.. to clarify the steps needed and the effect of such, to achieve this goal. How the pols react, people, etc.. Really, this is great stuff.

Hope others will listen to this.

If the House refuses to move forward, it will continue to unmask the two-party fraud, IMO. Having said that, at this point, not having listened to the whole thing yet, he is saying, the people STILL have a voice in this. I wonder if it's true.

They have to go directly to the people, over the heads of the established media.

Other than the internet, myspace, viral marketing, University / High School? newspaper ads?

Who was that candidate that said something like: 'I bet you folks are wondering, WHO AM I AND WHY AND I HERE'.

From the few QUESTIONS FOR THE CANDIDATE 'tubes' I've watched, they don't want the rhetorical BS, they can take the truth. They may not know history, but they probably have friend or family 'over there'.

That's how the Drama Teacher helped her students make the war real in the play, VOICES IN CONFLICT. (Thread here: http://freedom4um.com/cgi-bin/readart.cgi? ArtNum=56143)

Making it real, to those who are in the crosshairs to be cannon fodder.

If we slapped a well-deserved tariff on Mexican goods, do you really think that the all-powerful Mexican Army would send troops and tanks across the border?

Can't say for certain. On the face of it it doesn't seem likely. But no tariffs (by either side) are in place yet, and the severity would have an impact as to whether trade continues.

And besides, if demand is high enough, in spite of (because of actually) an absolute ban on certain products then you have a booming black-market with ARMED gangsters in charge crossing the border. Come to think about it, that's exactly what we have right now. So few make the connection between the WoD and armed thugs. So the adage holds true, even if it isn't the exact sort of soldiers and tanks that you might envision. The principle holds up.
