Au contraire, the mercs are doing most of the low risk EOD stuff that the army used to do, except they get paid about 100 times what the GIs get.

I have an old EOD buddy over there in charge of a contractor crew. The dude must be about 115; I first met him in ‘Nam!

I was contacted by one of my former COs...he is fairly high up in one of the contract outfits. I gave him a negative...he must be about 65 now...too old for that kinda shit.

As for the EOD folks, they were a pretty tight-knit group as I recall. I worked with a bunch of them disbursing ordinance and weapons after we were 'asked' out of Thailand in 76. They party good too.
