According to our court-watcher we can tell you the following: At the start of the trial the DOJ withdrew the felony charges, leaving two counts of willful failure to file. The Constitution and the law were allowed into the courtroom. Although Cryer was able to tell the jury what he read, he was not allowed to show the jury what he read. Cryer was also able to tell the jury what he did not read in the law because he could not find it in the law - the law that made him liable to file and pay the federal income tax. Tom did a good job of explaining to the jury what he read in the Brushhaber, Stanton and Eisner Supreme Court cases about the legal meaning of the word "income" and what he read in the Internal Revenue Code - everything but the law that required him to file. Tom had asked the IRS to show him the law that made him liable but the IRS did not respond. Larry Becraft's closing arguments were "flawless." Compared to the judges in the Simkanin and Schiff cases, Cryer's judge was "Cinderella." Congratulations Tom and Larry. We are looking forward to your full report. That's great news! We're starting to see some successes. With Bannister and now Cryer it would seem there IS some precedent being set. Larry Becraft is representing another ex-IRS agent (forget what her name is, she worked in the Atlanta office) who, like Joe Bannister, came to the conclusion that there is no law requiring paying income tax... She's fortunate to have Becraft as her attorney - I think he considerably ups her chances of winning. That case should be getting under way soon. BUT, as myself and a couple of others have pointed out several times - the income tax is a result of the contract you have with the government called Social Security. If you don't want to pay the income tax the best solution is to get out of the Social Security system (which the government DOES admit is voluntary). Wouldn't it be better to quit paying AND not worrying about being in the position that the Browns or Joe Bannister or Cryer or whoever find themselves in??? The program started Monday the 9th, and the whole series is worth listening to - but today's show (Thursday the 12th) specifically talks about the income tax, as well as several other contracts most people have with the government...

Wow...now all the jurists need to be interviewed and to what they heard and why they ruled in favor of Cryer. The court transcript needs to be published. The judge must be pissed off his courtroom 'got out of order.'
I'm still reviewing the brief and thusfar find little new in the way of argument. My personal opinion at this point is that the govt. was out lawyered by Becraft and Cryer in their ability to persuade the jury. (I've nearly finished the 84 page Motion to Dismiss). Jury trials leave the outcome of a trial somewhat in question as it relates to subsequent cases. (In my most humble opinion.) I'd like to have access to the entire case ... my question is really whether or not the SS System can attach the strawman/corporate entity to taxation. I haven't seen anything referenced in Cryer's brief regarding the SSN ... and wonder if the Court and the IRS/US Attorney were hesitant to let the cat out of the bag in this regard. I'll reserve my opinion until I have an opportunity to review transcripts of the entire matter.

listening to the MP3 of Gary Thomason that Uncle Bill posted on the other thread. it sounds like to me your hypothesis is correct.
simply one victory for the freedom and tax honesty movement. word will spread and this has to bode well for folks like Ed and Elaine Brown.

People's financial fate, or even their VERY LIVES, can't depend on whether their attorney has the skills to 'outlawyer' the government. The law needs to be cut and dried...why should one citizen be set free, while others get shot between the eyes, based on the skills of their lawyer? Sorry...I have a REAL PROBLEM with that one...

The lawyers ability certainly has an impact on any case, even though I agree with you that it (Federal Taxation) should be cut and dry ... and etched in stone ... in 4th grade english.

Tax protesters invariably end up in jail and/or stripped of all their assets. I don't need to be able to quote case law chapter and verse in order to see the results. So a jury acquitted these guys. Doesn't mean the government won't just come back with different charges and/or a civil suit. In fact, I'd bet on it.

Generally, yes. Invariably, no. There have been some victories, it' just that we don't hear much (if anything) about them. That's the problem - we DO see the results and hear all about those cases. The corporate media, TheStateInc, and their controllers make sure of it. It's how they "keep us in line". The corporate media, StateInc, and their controllers also try their best to make sure we don't hear of the victories. Here's a couple of ideas on how to deal with the tax agency.
