Wow. That's 310 miles per hour, which is VERY fast. Now, add in the convenience of being able to board at a station in-town instead of at an airport outside of a town, being able to bring your own luggage on, being able to avoid a LOT of the "security" nonsense (since you can't exactly hijack a train and drive it into a building), and all of a sudden a train like this starts looking like a viable alternative to air travel. Imagine trains like this being able to run between Los Angeles and San Jose/San Francisco? Or Between New York, D.C. and Boston? Hey, if they can do it in Japan, they can do it here.
