I started this thread to get the conspiracy stories started early, the sooner we get them 'out of the way' the better off we will be.
USAma been Rusty is the culprit.
One of two things happened. Aliens crashed their invisible ship into it, or... God sat on it and broke it. I can tell you all for a fact, it needed to be replaced. 2 years ago they ran a news story about how Minnesota had a bunch of shitty bridges that needed to be replaced, and that one was one of the big ones.
Dying for old bastards, and their old money, isn't my idea of freedom.
That's what I was hearing, although I didn't do any research to get that info, and that it was a 40 yr old bridge ... due for replacement in 2020. But I guess we're (they're) going to beat that timeline now. I still want to get a 'truthers' perspective; last year (or a few years back) word had it that some C4 was stolen from a feebee office there in Minneapolis .. .

I'm not sure. I think it does follow I-35, at least it does through Texas, but I'm not sure how far north it goes or how closely it follows the original road. My point was that EdCondom's post was a way to conduct a cheap attack on the truthers without going so far as to address their argument - basically something at the level of a Republican smear. I don't follow the truther stuff closely and it was even offensive to me.

Yes. I noted a couple of remarks on the coverage this morning. Paraphrasing: 1) One said, I heard a BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM. As we were falling, a boom. 2) One of the police officials giving the organizational update said, we are not sure what caused the bridge to come down. We are treating this as a crime scene, as well as a recovery, but it will be slow and deliberate, to collect forensic data. On a side note, some guy on MSNBC (Craig Crawford?) said, that the federal officials aren't the only ones to blame... the taxpayers themselves rather spend money to build a ball park, then to fix the bridge. You know, in this case, I find that hard to believe. Rather have a ballpark, sure, but knowing the bridge is a timebomb, and they might just be on it when it goes......... please... voters, taxpayers, expect that infrastructure is a known priority, and they pay for it's maintenance already.

Just FYI, The TSA is going to take all the bridge rubble and try to rebuild it somewhere, to see if they can determine what caused the failure. A person commented on CNN (I think it was a structural engineer), that he can not imagine, HOW, two ends of the bridge came down at the same time. There was some jackhammer work on one side of the river, that might have contributed to 'vibrations', but, an investigation was needed to determine if the jackhammer work was specifically around, or close to, critical connectors (? bridge talk) that may have caused/contributed a span failure.

That's what happened. It is also interesting, in a 'post 9/11 world', critical 'corridor' bridges, were NOT under constant scrutiny for structural soundness and security. To protect life, limb and big business. I am so glad to hear that big business is REALLY chipping in to help the workers. With Granola bars and plastic chairs. That is REALLY nice. Target is throwing in some shirts. I do have a cheaper suggestion here. Perhaps those businesses could outsource themselves and eliminate the need for rebuilding. I have a couple questions. We have this video of the bridge collapse and it was seen and released already early today. In what, not even 12 hours? Where after 6 years are the videos of the aircraft impact at the Pentagon that still haven't been released? Where after 11 years are the videos of the bombing at OKC? The NTSB said it was going to save and preserve EVERY piece of the bridge, and may reconstruct it. You mean we are not hiring Tomaseti-Thorton to haul all the steel away to China. Where is Gene Corley, CDI, FEMA, NIST and all the other criminals? I'll tell ya. There not needed here, this truly looks like a failure of some type. Gene Corley and the boys only come in to cover up the government false flag fingerprints.

I think it collapse for no reason whatsoever. A spontaneous collapse if you will. A catostrophic event which is in no way predictable or preventable, and something that can happen at any time and place to any kind of structure, regardless of it's construction materials, methods, design or modifications. Therefore no person is suitable to accept either responsibility or blame. Perhaps this bit of sarcasm sufficiently argues that there IS a cause for all events like this bridge collapse. We just don't know the cause of this one.
New tactic Kamala. And 24 hours haven't passed yet. Full force of the Fed Guv already been there and seen. NTSB already stated, don't expect an answer for at least a year. So, how do we 'fix' with funding, that which we don't know caused the failure? Same experts that gave the bridge to 2020, going to be trusted with prioritizaion? There is not enough analysis at this point to fund anything. Especially when this bridge was 50 on the list, and not in 'imminent danger' of collapse. This STINKS.

Well, I think this is a really cheap shot that you made; contrast what the truthers are doing with 9/11 about 4,000 casualtys and all I wanted to do is get a head start on what the established and well-informed truthers thought of this event early-on. (I am almost inclined to believe that you might have truther tendancies, but I will not make that leap at this time. I will see how you respond to this post first.) Why wait until YEARS after the event, we should ALL be grabbing news accounts and recording ANY video that is being shone - some ONLY once maybe! So you see, there is good reason to ask this question now, to get answers now, and prepare for the future possible cover-up by government and its many stooges. In case you did not notice, a good portion of that bridge over land also fell down. Highly unusual. Almost like they 'pulled it' like some say the towers and WTC 7 was. No?

Well Homeland security has already ruled out terrorism despite the fact they weren't there, didn't see it happen, and know nothing about bridges. The better question right now is how do they know it wasn't terrorism? And what about Chertoff's gut? We really shouldn't ignore the guy's gut feeling about terror attacks, should we? God is always good! E, By what stretch of common sense, would a city build a monster stadium, if they KNEW, that a bridge, TO IT, was a time bomb? If the neglect was deliberate, who benefitted? It's not the stadium that was built, it was those who built it. Along another line, we have been told today, that the bridge was inspected in '05, '06, and already this year. By what standard did it pass, knowing the increased loads, KNOWING, it is a main corridor for FedEX, to pass to Canada, and down to our favorite nation helping us in this WOT, Mexico? KNOWING, the increased truck traffic... knowing the nearby construction causing additional load... Knowing, it was going it blow, at an incredible opportune time. How in Gods name, could all this be overlooked, considering, it was deemed 'deficient' in '05? The answer shouldn't be decided by unqualified spectators. Great point RickyJ. Well if his gut TELLS him that terror is coming, then a significant bridge collapse, should at least give him gas. And the "cheese" (incident) stands alone.

Lammas: The First Harvest It was upon a Lammas Night The time went by with careless heed Corn rigs and barley rigs, Although in the heat of a Mid-western summer it might be difficult to discern, the festival of Lammas (Aug 1st) marks the end of summer and the beginning of fall. The days now grow visibly shorter and by the time we've reached autumn's end (Oct 31st), we will have run the gammut of temperature from the heat of August to the cold and (sometimes) snow of November. And in the midst of it, a perfect Mid-western autumn. The history of Lammas is as convoluted as all the rest of the old folk holidays. It is of course a cross-quarter day, one of the four High Holidays or Greater Sabbats of Witchcraft, occuring 1/4 of a year after Beltane. It's true astrological point is 15 degrees Leo, but tradition has set August 1st as the day Lammas is typically celebrated. The celebration proper would begin on sundown of the previous evening, our July 31st, since the Celts reckon their days from sundown to sundown. However, British Witches often refer to the astrological date of Aug 6th as Old Lammas, and folklorists call it Lammas O.S. ('Old Style'). This date has long been considered a 'power point' of the Zodiac, and is symbolized by the Lion, one of the 'tetramorph' figures found on the Tarot cards, the World and the Wheel of Fortune (the other three figures being the Bull, the Eagle, and the Spirit). Astrologers know these four figures as the symbols of the four 'fixed' signs of the Zodiac, and these naturally allign with the four Great Sabbats of Witchcraft. Christians have adopted the same iconography to represent the four gospel-writers. 'Lammas' was the medieval Christian name for the holiday and it means 'loaf-mass', for this was the day on which loaves of bread were baked from the first grain harvest and laid on the church altars as offerings. It was a day representative of 'first fruits' and early harvest. In Irish Gaelic, the feast was referred to as 'Lugnasadh', a feast to commemorate the funeral games of the Irish sun-god Lugh. However, there is some confusion on this point. Although at first glance, it may seem that we are celebrating the death of Lugh, the god of light does not really die (mythically) until the autumnal equinox. And indeed, if we read the Irish myths closer, we discover that it is not Lugh's death that is being celebrated, but the funeral games which Lugh hosted to commemorate the death of his foster-mother, Taillte. That is why the Lugnasadh celebrations in Ireland are often called the 'Tailltean Games'. One common feature of the Games were the 'Tailltean marriages', a rather informal marriage that lasted for only 'a year and a day' or until next Lammas. At that time, the couple could decide to continue the arrangement if it pleased them, or to stand back to back and walk away from one another, thus bringing the Tailltean marriage to a formal close. Such trial marriages (obviously related to the Wiccan 'Handfasting') were quite common even into the 1500's, although it was something one 'didn't bother the parish priest about'. Indeed, such ceremonies were usually solemnized by a poet, bard, or shanachie (or, it may be guessed, by a priest or priestess of the Old Religion). Lammastide was also the traditional time of year for craft festivals. The medieval guilds would create elaborate displays of their wares, decorating their shops and themselves in bright colors and ribbons, marching in parades, and performing strange, ceremonial plays and dances for the entranced onlookers. The atmosphere must have been quite similar to our modern-day Renaissance Festivals, such as the one celebrated in near-by Bonner Springs, Kansas, each fall. A ceremonial highlight of such festivals was the 'Catherine wheel'. Although the Roman Church moved St. Catherine's feast day all around the calender with bewildering frequency, it's most popular date was Lammas. (They also kept trying to expel this much-loved saint from the ranks of the blessed because she was mythical rather than historical, and because her worship gave rise to the heretical sect known as the Cathari.) At any rate, a large wagon wheel was taken to the top of a near-by hill, covered with tar, set aflame, and ceremoniously rolled down the hill. Some mythologists see in this ritual the remnants of a Pagan rite symbolizing the end of summer, the flaming disk representing the sun-god in his decline. And just as the sun king has now reached the autumn of his years, his rival or dark self has just reached puberty. Many comentators have bewailed the fact that traditional Gardnerian and Alexandrian Books of Shadows say very little about the holiday of Lammas, stating only that poles should be ridden and a circle dance performed. This seems strange, for Lammas is a holiday of rich mythic and cultural associations, providing endless resources for liturgical celebration.
