I kid you not. CNN actually had the BREAKING NEWS title at the bottom of the screen, the 'news' being that more bridge collapses are likely to occur in the future.

BREAKING NEWS: SUN TO TURN SUPERNOVA!!!

BREAKING NEWS: HURRICANES IMMINENT THIS HURRICANE SEASON!!!!!!

BREAKING NEWS: WE'LL ALL GONNA DIE!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Get it get any weirder? I mean, how totally stupid to they think their viewers are? By the way, is anyone paying attention to the way Blitz talks? It's totally hilarious.

The fear brigade's been running full tilt since early July. They do need 'something' to happen, and soon...

Then, they had these absurd interviews with 'people who are afraid to drive on bridges for fear of bridge collapse' and they predicted that there will be many more of those now. 'And for good reason', Blitz told the frightened audience. What can I say? "Home of the brave", right?

Antiparty - find out why, think about 'how'

These people would have pissed their pants driving over the old Cooper River Bridge in Charleston or the Royal Gorge in Colorado. Man...I remember sitting 200 feet above the Charles River in Boston during rush hour on the Tobin Bridge. You could feel that whole damn bridge shaking, especially if there was a big rig idling nearby...it was a LONG WAY down.

I have no clue or idea (well, sort of) on where they get irrational people to come on camera and help bump up the fear and degrade themselves. TV news isn't event driven, it's agenda driven.

That would scare me to death, as I'm afraid of heights.

There is a bridge that you have to go over to get into Lake Charles, LA from the west on I-10, it's goes up really high, that bridge scared me. Also the bridge that crosses the Mississippi into Baton Rouge is scary.

Although I have never been there; I heard that the Huey P. Long Bridge over the Mississippi outside of New Orleans (U.S. 90) is another 'white knuckle' ride.

Cars and pickups actually drove over this bridge the day this photo was taken:

It's in Ecuador not far from Quito. It's not as long as a steel bridge but.... Our tour bus dropped us off before this bridge and we had to cross it and do the rest of the way on foot.

I'm not familiar with that one, unless I crossed it when I was a kid but don't remember.

I used to go to New Orleans now and then, and would drive on that long, long bridge that goes over Lake Ponchetrain (sp). It was low to the ground and felt very sturdy, but was very long and seemed to take forever to cross.

Good grief that looks very bad! If I had to cross that one I think I would rather cross it on foot too, and I'd be really glad to make it to the other side!

I've seen a number of Bailey bridges in central and south America.

Have you?

I hate that thing - just went over it several times last week. There is always a tanker filled with gasoline hovering around you when you are on it.

Prolly the next one to go BOOOM.

Have you ever noticed the flintlock pistol motif along the guard rails on that bridge?

I'm not very familiar with bailey bridges, so I couldn't say how many I may have seen, if any.

That sounds like the 'other' Huey P. Long Bridge...scary is an understatement.

They find them at the nearest trailer park!

As for the people who are afraid to go out and be on the bridges...by all means stay at home then...less idiots for the rest of us to deal with.

I have been terrified of bridges since I was a child...but it is called sucking it up and doing it! Try the whirlpool bridge going into Canada from the US...I could have swore I saw concrete falling off the bottom!
