US To Freezes Assets Of People Undermining Lebanon
RTTNews) - Thursday, US President George Bush signed an executive order that will freeze the property and interests of people suspected to be undermining Lebanon's democratic government.
Bush's executive order covers those found to be helping Syria reassert control over Lebanon or suspected of involvement to break down law and order, including by means of violence. The order also applies to spouses and dependent children of those deemed to be contributing to instability in Lebanon, and to those providing aid to such people.
"The president signed this executive order because Lebanon's sovereignty and democratic institutions are increasingly under attack," said Gordon Johndroe, US national Security Council spokesman.
Johndroe referred to recent attacks by Islamist "extremist" armed groups on the Lebanese army, the assassination of a key anti-Syrian figure in Lebanon in June, and reports that Syria's allies and proxies in Lebanon may be preparing to overthrow the democratic government.
In an accompanying message to Congress, Bush said threats against Beirut's government and moves to restore Syria's former dominant influence in Lebanon would "contribute to political and economic instability in and the region and constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States.

Bush is steadily becoming more & more dictatorial & fascist. Seizing people's property for what? It's all very open-ended, they can subjectively judge that you've undermined the Lebanese government in some way, and take your property?
