Illegal Aliens Nabbed

By TIM TAYLOR

WHEELING- After a routine traffic stop on Interstate 70 early today, Ohio County Sheriff's Department Deputy J. Pond noticed that there was more to the story than the broken headlight.

Around 12:26 a.m. today, while Pond was performing extra speed enforcement on I-70 eastbound, he noticed a truck approaching him from behind with the vehicles driver's side headlight out. Pond pulled the vehicle over near the 8-mile marker on the interstate.

According to the report, when the driver was asked for his driver's license and registration, an occupant identified as Luis P. Ramirez, in the extended cab answered for the driver. Ramirez was identified by his Mexican driver's license and Mexican voter's identification card. Ramirez told Pond that the driver did not have a driver's license and could not answer any questions because he did not speak English.

Ramirez, who spoke poor but understandable English, told Pond that the truck belonged to his friend Richardo T. Araiza from 832 Lessman Circle, Cullman, Ala. After looking through Department of Motor Vehicles files, it was determined that the registration and the vehicle identification number did check out.

According to the report, Pond then requested a supervisor come to the scene. Minutes later, two additional deputies arrived.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputies noticed movement from underneath blankets in the bed of the truck. Once the blankets were removed, six more individuals were found lying inside the bed of the truck. A total of 10 illegal aliens, including one juvenile, were inside the truck. With the addition of the new illegal immigrants, a deputy requested that another officer be contacted for interpreting.

Ramerez admitted buying the vehicle from Araiza for $2,000 cash. However, there was no proof of this in the vehicle. When the vehicle was run through the DMV files, the vehicle was still registered to Araiza.

When asked what they were doing in the United States, Ramirez stated that they were on their way to New Jersey to work. He motioned like he was pushing a lawn mower," Pond said.

After it was determined that all the occupants were illegal aliens, they were removed from the vehicle, searched and placed in the back of squad cars for transport. A deputy searched the vehicle and found a Mexican license plate.

Several minutes later, the interpreter arrived and transported three of the occupants. Middle Creek Garage was then contacted and arrived to take the vehicle to their impound, where there is now a hold on the vehicle until the rightful owner can be identified.

According to the report, there was a "hit" on Mario Sedano Torres. Torres, an illegal alien, had been picked up before and voluntarily returned to Mexico. Torres is now subject to removal proceedings. None of the other individuals were wanted.

After the individuals were run through National Crime Information Center, Pond contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement where he spoke to a federal agent. According to the report, the federal agent wanted to know why the individuals had been arrested. Pond explained to the agent how he had come across the vehicle upon a routine traffic stop. The agent said that he was "dealing with international felons and that we were about tenth on his list," Pond said.

The federal agent told Pond that he did not want the juvenile to be logged anywhere because he did not have a juvenile facility to hold him.

Shortly after this, according to Pond, the district agent for the local area called and spoke with a sheriff's department supervisor. the supervisor then transported the juvenile to the Lincoln Detention Center where he lodged for the night.

The rest of the subjects were taken to Northern Regional Jail where they were lodged and awaiting to speak with Immigration and Customs.

After all the occupants were found in the vehicle and identified, they included: a male juvenile, Luis Ramirez, 22; Cruz Hernandez, 31; Hector Perfecta, 20; Andres Ramirez, 24; Jesus M. Ramirez, 29; Mario S. Torres, 19; Jose Rodrigues, 21; Natalie Martinez, 25; and Jose Mendez, 19.

All occupants were unarmed.

Looks to me like the feds are pissed about the locals picking these guys up.

Pond, you jackass.

Nobody cares about "international felons," (unless you count all those in DC) we want these illegals flushed from our country and the borders secured. Then you can go back to your international felon search.
