At about minute 6:20 in the first video (or 2:40 in time left) Ron Paul announces the campaign raised $75,000 in one day.
Here are all three parts of the grand opening of the Des Moines, Iowa Ron Paul headquarters on August 9, 2007.
Do people without an internet connection really vote based on the number of midless television commercials or signs they see in other people's yards? I doubt any amount of money we could raise would buy positve editorial spin in the MSM, we're competing with the big corporations for that segment, which is already biased when it comes to foreign policy anyway.

Ron Pauls supporters are actively encouraging Iowa voters to take advantage of Mitt Romneys offers of free transportation to the Iowa Straw Poll in Ames on Saturday and then, once they are there, to vote for Mr. Paul.
They are getting out to greet the Romney buses now!
Which are also carrying some Ron Paul fans...

Jeff, the cameraman, just spoke to a guy with a laptop and asked where he was blogging. Well he says, I'm just coordinating with the Alex Jones folks right now.

9:48 frodo: Remember that Tancredo's supporters will be looking our way if Tancredo leaves the race and he WILL, eventually. We aren't going to attract them to our camp if we call Tancredo names!

So a woman calls in to CSPAN and tells them how they do not cover the other side of the immigration debate, only La Raza. Then he responds as if he hadn't heard a word she just said.
Out of 5 callers, 3 were RP supporters, 1 Joe Biden, and 1 wanted to tell them how biased they are on immigration.
Ron Paul Gets Award for "Loudest Presence" at Straw Poll
Signs for Ron Paul's 2008 US Presidential campaign lined the streets and highways leading up to Ames, Iowa Saturday morning. State troopers worked diligently to remove the signage.
Supporters stood on street corners, enthusiastically waving and holding up signs, according to the Register. At least 10 cars in the parking lot were decorated with giant Ron Paul signs. A guy in a minivan broadcasting Pauls name drove around the Hilton lots honking his horn.
Paul will be facing tough competition in Ames from poll front runner, Mitt Romney, and Sam Brownback, who the media expected to come in second as a result of his aggressive campaigning throughout Iowa.
Sen. Charles Grassley told the Register today it is a mistake for former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Sen. John McCain of Arizona to skip the Iowa Republican Party's presidential straw poll in Ames.
Giuliani and McCain decided for strategic reasons not to actively participate in the closely-watched event in Ames.
"I think he should have been in the straw poll," Grassley said about Giuliani as the straw poll got under way around Hilton Coliseum on the Iowa State University campus.
"I think anybody who is not in the straw poll made a mistake," said Grassley, the dean of Iowa's congressional delegation.
Temperatures were expected to get to 95 degrees Saturday afternoon.
The candidates were scheduled to begin speaking inside the Coliseum at 12:24 p.m. Voting goes on all day, and the result will be announced at 7 p.m. Central time (8 pm Eastern Time).

But, RP may well beat Romney today. The campaign will be happy with a strong 2nd place. Romney has invested far more than anyone else, he knows this is crucial for him.
This is not a good day for illegals. From Newt to Tancredo, the GOP is listening to what Americans want on this issue. Not that they will actually do anything.
I'll take a break after RP speaks. After Tancredo is Cox, then RP.
Tancredo is also talking too fast, but less interesting than Romney.
Were it not for their BRUTAL winters, I would consider relocating to our farm on the Iowa River...but I couldn't handle weather where you have to have a bull-dozer clear your driveway of several feet of snow.
The beginning of his speech was awful.. just awful..didnt sound like him at all..whoever talked him into saying what he did at the top of his speech needs to be sent packing..
my sentiments exactly. guess he must appeal to the one issuers. btw, laura ingraham looks like mAnne. how about getting a fashion clue too? that top is dreadful.
It was right on the mark for Iowa's governor's race last year, so why couldn't it project the results of the presidential race? The corn poll at the Iowa State fair, that is.
Every candidate has a jelly jar with their respective photo attached. Fair goers over 18 can cast a corn kernel into the jar of the candidate they support.
On Friday, Democratic Sen. Hillary Clinton was leading the field with 624 kernels. The biggest battle was for second place, however. Republican Mitt Romney had 459 kernels - just two more than Democrat John Edwards. Democrat Barack Obama was trailing closely behind with 410 kernels.
Another good reason to support Ron Paul. Look at the frightening alternative, Hillary Clinton.
BTW, we're supposed to be nice to the Huckabee and Tancredo supporters, to win them over to our side.
For the record, Laura Ingraham is a total bitch. (but you knew that - I just needed to post it) "The peace train is leaving" - Try the freedom train.
my sentiments exactly. guess he must appeal to the one issuers.
Whoever put him up to that shit needs to be sent packing.. he doesnt need to appeal to them now ..not at this speech.. he needed to come across in a strong way.. and the best way for him to be strong is to be himself..the peace and antiwar message not that bullshit
Rats! I didn't know you were here Cyni, or I would have at least left out some letters. How about contemptible? Laura Ingraham is contemptible.
Do you realize that Ron Paul was the ONLY candidate that she ATTACKED with an old news item, trying to make FUN OF HIM? Then calling his supporters "the peace train" (she's not aware that's a good thing, peace).
That was a hit not an introduction. She is low-life pond scum.
I gave Sprinkler Repair Guys a handful of RP cards, a copy of TerrorStorm, and JPFO's The Gang - and got back in just in time for Dr.Paul's wonderful speech.
Would also like to say that earlier MSNBC reported a little while ago right before his speech that Ron Paul had more supporters in his tent than any one else that the reporter could see!!!
Why didn't you try to make fun of any of the other candidates and their supporters? Why was your introduction of Ron Paul an attack? But you attacked no other candidate that you introduced. Nor did you make any remarks about any of the other departing supporters.
Are you afraid of Ron Paul? Why? Ron Paul wants to restore the rule of law and believes in the Constitution.
AMES, Iowa -- A fife and drum duo dressed in colonial attire led Rep. Ron Paul's (Texas) chanting supporters into the Hilton Coliseum moments ago.
Paul, who last ran for president in 1988 as a Libertarian, has -- without question -- the most vocal backers of any of the candidates actively participating in today's GOP straw poll.
He came to the stage to a huge and long-lasting cheer. "Our campaign is all about freedom, prosperity and peace," Paul said by way of introduction.
Paul urged that Roe v. Wade be overturned, proposed the elimination of the departments of Energy and Education and argued that the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, "could have been prevented if we had had a lot more respect for the Second Amendment."
Again and again, Paul received loud applause during his speech, most notably when he spoke of defending the Constitution. "The answers can be found in the return to the rule of law and strict interpretation of the Constitution," he said.
The excitement and enthusiasm of Paul's supporters is without question. But does that translate into votes in the straw poll? We shall see.
Laura must be a Hillary supporter - no other Republican can defeat her except Dr Paul.
Laura's a neocon and, yes, neocons DO prefer Hillary BY FAR over Ron Paul.
In fact, not even Ron Paul can defeat Hillary, if the touchscreens are hacked the way they were in 2004.
I don't think the NWO will allow any more elections such as 2006. Their hackers were sleeping on the job that day. I think they did TRY to rig that one also, to some extent, and that's why the Dems only have less than a 30-seat majority rather than the 60-vote one which would have been evident had the vote count been with paper ballots.
I can already hear the post mortem analysis of why Hillary won in 2008. It was because "conservatives" decided America could not show "weakness" by withdrawing from Iraq and so they went with the hawk Hillary.
I would give no thought of what the world might say of me, if I could only transmit to posterity the reputation of an honest man. - Sam Houston
Think Mitt would let me license his likeness for golf-cart racing video game? I'm thinking Hawaii would be good setting, maybe we even do a 70's style cartoon.
"A functioning police state needs no police." - William S Burroughs
Is that the caller who was annoyed with Laura? She forgot to mention how Laura attacked the RP supporters, about the insane asylum and the peace train.
Jeff is interviewing this Iowan, named Ryan, who was just driving by in his Iowa State t-shirt. He stopped to see what the media circus was about. Ryan said he's not really much into politics, but he ate a hot dog and listened to the speeches.
Ryan said if Ron Paul is for shutting down 2/3 of the govt, he's for that.
He's got his voting card, and is curious now about what is paid for and what is not.
Yes he was speaking to someone and they said he was going to do another tent speech....wasn't scheduled...but more people are there and he wants to keep things going...Jeff said he'd be back between 5:15 and 5:30 cst
This is me spreading the message about Ron Paul. It only cost me about $30. I handed out almost 200 fliers. If you want change, you have to do something.
Ron Paul for President
Late to the party...I've been out of town all day. Friends...did you ever consider that Laura's livelihood may DEPEND on Hillary Clinton being elected? Can you imagine the ratings on right-wing radio if Hillary is elected? Sean, Rush, Laura, Savage...they would LOVE to have Hillary in the White House...huge ratings. I don't think they want a Republican nominee that could actually DEFEAT Hillary. Think about it.

Straw Poll Results Delayed Due To Voting Machine Malfunction
11 Aug 2007 08:25 pm
AMES -- The announcement of tonight's straw poll results has been delayed due to what one informed source says was a voting machine malfunction. About 4,500 ballots had to be re-run. We are waiting....
You forgot this. But then, all Truthers ignore it.

Ron Paul SIgns Removed by Police at the Ames Straw Poll Supporters arrive at Ames straw poll
JENNIFER JACOBS REGISTER STAFF WRITER August 11, 2007
Traffic was rolling smoothly at 8:45 a.m. on the roads in to Ames and Hilton Coliseum. There were no traffic jams.
At 9 a.m., the candidate with the loudest presence was Ron Paul, a U.S. representative from Texas.
Supporters stood on street corners, enthusiastically waving and holding up signs. At least 10 cars in the parking lot were decorated with giant Ron Paul signs. A guy in a minivan broadcasting Pauls name drove around the Hilton lots honking his horn.
Yard signs, mostly for Paul, lined the highway interchange on Interstate Highway 35 at Ames, but a law enforcement officer in a squad car was yanking out the signs just before 9 a.m.

What that doesn't make clear is if they just pulled the Ron Paul signs or ALL the signs?
Sorry I dont buy it.. what was it that dolt said about the results .. something about honest or what was it? I dont buy that Ron Paul came in behind Tancredo that is very very suspicious..
14,302 ballots cast 11th place: John Cox (41 votes) 10th place: John McCain (101 votes) 9th place: Duncan Hunter 8th place: Rudy Giuliani 7th place: Fred Thompson 6th place: Tommy Thompson 5th place: Ron Paul (1305 votes, 9.1%) 4th place: Tom Tancredo (1961 votes, 13.7%) 3rd place: Sam Brownback 2nd place: Mike Huckabee 1st place: Mitt Romney
agreed.. but the amt of $ he put into Iowa.. still doesnt change his msg does it?
Romney is a non person in this campaign. Offers nothing except the same old refrain, more aid here there etc etc.
For a bland non person to get over 4000 votes does not fit the vote amounts for the others. Zip..Of course, just perhaps the voters in Iowa are not too bright?
I was absolutely blown away by the enthusaiasm of Dr. Paul's supporters...wait until they get organized on college campuses as classes kick in about a month from now...the younger generation is the real 'X factor' in the next election.

I agree. They've had that energy all day! They are the future, it's looking better.
well.. I agree Lizza .. btw was that you in the chat room on Justin TV?
I never could register..
But my issue is b/c of what I know about voting machines I am very skeptical.. the huge difference in the # of votes for the top winners and those after #3 is odd.. considering the voting machine issue that they had to look into.. just a tad suspicious.. but Im a cynic :P
These are decent, devoted young people. Most of them are young.
someone said somewhere that they couldn't believe that people 30 and younger were actually voting and backing an over 70 year old man!!!! Hey some of us know how to show respect and some of us do!!! Not all of us are vidiets!!!!!
I can honestly say this is the first candidate that has come along in the entire time my generation has been old enough to vote that has been worth even giving a second look to!
Someone once told me that 9/11 was our generations Vietnam, I wouldn't go that far, but I would say that it was our wake up call!!!
I can honestly say this is the first candidate that has come along in the entire time my generation has been old enough to vote that has been worth even giving a second look to!
He's the best that's come along since I was old enough to vote, and I'm an old fart...
I voted Reagan, Reagan, Bush I, Perot, Phillips, Phillips...
The vote I have regretted the most was for this Bush.
The vote I most enjoyed was for Goldwater because everyone said a vote for Goldwater was a vote for war. They were right, I voted for Goldwater and we got one hell of a war.
Amazing part was a few years later I could not find anyone of my friends that voted for Johnson.
That would give Ron Paul 60% of the vote, which is what one person said exit polls suggested and what I figured to be about right off the top of my head.
That would give Ron Paul 60% of the vote, which is what one person said exit polls suggested and what I figured to be about right off the top of my head.
Well done.
The machine says 55% - which is what Dr.Paul has polled in every "honest" poll that I've been able to find.
my sweet love, please do not allow yourself to get discouraged I know nothing about the straw poll who participates in it, etc where it is located (perhaps Romney bussed in his supporters)
we knew from the beginning, this was not going to be an easy win (the Presidency for Ron Paul) LOL all we thought was we could win and some of us (me) knew we would win
please try to take heart Ron Paul may have only gotten 10 per cent of the vote in the straw poll and don't forget Romney spent millions on this straw poll, plus all out effort
Romney had to win it to prove to the big money men behind the GOP that he should continue as their choice
Ron Paul didn't have to win it those of us committed to putting Ron Paul in the White House don't change our mind because of his showing in the Iowa straw poll Darling, we are building momentum we are still at the start there will be an avalanche for Ron Paul at the end because his campaign will snowball Love, Palo
The thing here to remember on this evening is that the MESSAGE was heard...loud and proud it was heard...Ron Paul supporters were all over Fox news...they couldn't help it it was in their face! And if anyone who watched Justin TV as I did will note, the support was there and it was great....more people took notice today than they did yesterday! That was the entire point of him being there!!!! They did an amazing job...they didn't buy votes, and still had more supporters there and HAPPY with the end results than Romney whose supporters didn't look or sound happy after all was said and done!

All true! That live camera feed on Justin.tv told the story. Even Fox news told the story. That the only candidate and supporters that Laura took a swing at was Ron Paul and his supporters, is also very telling.

Ron Paul 2008
Great News (and great post!) thank you for posting this lizza Love, Palo
This thread became the day's thread on Ames. Lizza, Zip, lodwick, Dakmar and I enjoyed watching whatever Jeff the cameraman for justin.tv would show us.
The response at times from the Ron Paul supporters was amazing.
If you scan this thread you will see some of the comments that were posted on justin.tv, some of the GREAT links that were posted and some of the experience.
It was impossible to keep up with the logging of comments throughout the day on justin.tv. Sometimes the video was boring, sometimes overwhelmingly exciting.
The Romney people looked like bored fat cats with a dozen golfcarts. They and Brownbeck had buses to bring people in. Romney bought like 10,000 tickets.
Romney's campaign far outspent any other. Ron Paul said, at the end of the day, $2200 per vote, is what Romney paid; as opposed to $200 per vote by the Paul campaign.
All of the Romney people are paid staff, including a $200K PR person (according to MSM). That 200K was JUST for Ames.
The other campaigns spent weeks in Iowa, Ron Paul's group was there one week.

thank you for this report Robin I'm sorry my mind is such a mush tonight but my hunch is Romney got what he wanted and we got what we want Romney had to win, so the fat cats behind GOP would continue to choose him as their pick and what we got (according to Lizza) was a fantastic chance to get our message out we advanced our campaign exponentially GREAT! Love, Palo
It looked and sounded like a Ron Paul Convention. The Ron Paul supporters chanted loudly for 30 minutes straight; while waiting for the poll results.
"Freedom!"
response:
"Ron Paul!"
Earlier they walked through the area chanting also, very energized, very excited.
"Liberty!"
response:
"Ron Paul!"
And also:
"Just say 'Yes' to Dr. No"
and:
"We're not just on the internet!"
It seemed to me they were doing that very thing...and I hadn't wished I was somewhere more than that moment! It was an amazing thing to watch and thanks to the power of the internet be somewhat a part of. I was so happy that my dear husband who works the night shift was woken up to occasional cheers of HELL YES! God knows he loves me!I am convinced that it is time to stop taking it up the ass and start doing something...And watching the others just enforced that belief!
I wanted to say a personal thank you to Justin TV and to Jeff for the magnificent job that was done by making all of us watching us feel as if we were there shouting Just say Yes to Dr No and Freedom!!! And thanks to Robin for all the fun and wonderful commrodity I felt today being here..I know I am not a person whom has been here a lot..but I have been reading the forum for a few years....and I am so happy I picked today to really let it loose!
Romney had been expected to win the test because he spent millions of dollars and months of effort on an event that was skipped by two of his major rivals. "The people of this great state have sent a message to the rest of the country," said Romney. "Change starts in Iowa."
I would like to reiterate...I think I just puked in my mouth a little...oh wait..yep I did!
One more thing that just occurred to me...not sure why it just did...BUT what sort of (NWO) thing is happening this weekend to cause Ghooluani and McCain to NOT attend this event?

They're not wanting to "waste" campaign funds on campaigning because when they drop out as we know they will they get to keep the $ left in their coffers.
They must have received the word from those on high that the mittster is the PTB's choice for GOP.

This has been an incredible thread to read through. I think the final tally stinks to high heaven. Just like the last one, however, the enthusiasm grows and becomes more entrenched, as those participating at the event, can see the obvious complicity of the media fraud unfold before their eyes. Mine too. Those who have found Ron Paul, are not likely to swing to any other fake frontrunner, IMO. We know, he's our last chance.
I heard a report this morning that Mitt brought his whole family, nearly 100 people, to bump his (GOP) 'family values' message. A point apparently to slam Rudy, however, why bother with Rudy?? So, was the family passing out cash to vote? Perhaps we should pass the word at meetup links to take the Mitt money, donate to Paul, and still pull the lever for Dr. No. Hehehe.
There is no way Paul came in 5th, without the gargoyles buying votes, stuffing the ballot box, messing with the machines. Consiracy? Hell yes. Whether it's time to volunteer to be a poll worker or not, I don't know, but seems we need millions of eyes on the job at the polls.
We need hand counted paper ballots in the open, under the kind of scrutiny they have on cheaters in Vegas.

Young lady, are you for one moment inferring that there may have been nefarious deeds associated with the Iowa straw vote?
If by chance you are, I would agree. However, we must remember that politics is a DIRTY BUSINESS and we have chosen to support a man of character that does not stoop to such deeds.
In conclusion, this means if we intend on supporting Paul we have to work harder with less talking and more action.

When push comes to shove, this straw poll is more of a fundraiser for the Iowa GOP than it is (or purports to be) a scientific representation of the preferences of the Republicans in Iowa.
It is a media event, an opportunity for the primary campaigns to flex their muscles and get their message out. Nothing more.

On behalf of Dr. Ron Paul and his wife Carol, and the Ron Paul 2008 campaign staff, I thank our supporters and volunteers in Iowa and throughout the country for the strong showing in the Iowa straw poll. We are pleased and encouraged by the results.

good. now i don't feel so forlorn. still the fact that machines are manipulated even there shows me that it doesn't matter one whit how any of us vote. some representative government.
If by chance you are, I would agree. However, we must remember that politics is a DIRTY BUSINESS and we have chosen to support a man of character that does not stoop to such deeds.
Yes it is. I remember how Kinky Friedman broke it down. Poly = many, Ticks = bloodsuckers. Mitt brings 100 Family members? Bet they think they'll hold all seats in the Cabinet as well. And you are right about Ron Paul. He doesn't need dirty tricks, he needs US TO KNOW about the dirty tricks though.
I heard something the other day about Romney / Mormons. I don't know if it's true. But it was said, that Mormons do not serve in the military, due to their religions convictions. They do 'missionary work', therefore don't have to go into war. If true, and I understand the same about Jews that dedicate their lives to studying the Torah, and their exemption from military service... I have to wonder about anyone that votes for people that have the freedom to send OTHER PEOPLE to die for their policies. This seems rather insane.
So, Mitt brings a Family ARMY of 100, that have no skin in the game of war. Talk about hipocracy of the elite. Do I fault the religion? No. I suggest he and his family are disconnected from the realities faced by those who have served, now serve, and their families. How anyone in the military could trust such a candidate, is beyond me...whether you agree or disagree with this war, or the coming ones.
In conclusion, this means if we intend on supporting Paul we have to work harder with less talking and more action.
Are you saying I talk too much?? :) hehehe.
More of both can't be bad!

Thanks, that made me feel better actually. I haven't watched all the videos posted yet, but it looked to me that the Paulites outnumbered the paid gargoyles.

Romney has "estimated" his wealth in the neighborhood of $150 million.
Some neighborhood, huh? Why would he want some ner do well like me voting for him?
Hehehe..;)
Romney sure doesn't need any public financing does he? Doesn't need butts in the booth either. He can just buy the results.

Many years ago when his Mexican father was in Washington, I tried to get a phone call thru to olde George.
I got into his private office and talked with his personal secretary. When she said I could not speak with George, I asked if he were there and busy. She said yes he was there and not really busy BUT, he did not speak to just anyone.
Yet his son wants MY vote? From the unwashed masses, how distasteful it must be for the son to actually touch and have to be near COMMON Americans.
It was fun and more so because of your participation. However did you and loddy manage to register on justin.tv and Zip, christine and I could not?!
We'll do it all over again in New Hampshire and Texas; coming soon!
Yes, Jeff Frazee, the young cameraman (Texas A&M grad) deserves a special thanks as does justin.tv.
It was fun watching the Romney camp asking Jeff questions about the technology. After all the money the Romney camp spent they had none of the simple, pure, passion, and none of the easily obtained and effective technology. I love it! Laura Ingraham hated it, that's why she had to refer to an "insane asylum" and a "peace train"; a negativity she reserved only for Ron Paul's supporters. Yes, Ron Paul is the one to be worried about Laura.

That's the problem, we aren't anyone. We are slaves. Francis the Mule had more of a voice than we do now.
What a story Cyni... wow.

It was fun and more so because of your participation. However did you and loddy manage to register on justin.tv and Zip, christine and I could not?!
yes I did manage to get registered....I did it when Jeff went on break...was pretty easy to get in then. The first couple of times I tried I couldn't get it to work.
It was a blast and thanks for letting me participate! I had so much fun watching and feeling as if we were all there. Texas and New Hampshire are going to be great too. It was nice to see the Roms asking questions about it and the puzzled looks on their faces at times was priceless...and the at the end Jeff asking them how they felt about it..I mean hell they won..and they weren't half as excited and happy as the RP people were! Priceless!

That's what happens when your entire staff is paid for, not volunteers. It would be like a church hiring a choir.
Exactly why overwhelmingly, both the active, and retired, military folks support Ron Paul.
That is outstanding!
