11 Aug 2007 09:12 pm Gov Mitt Romney won the 2007 Ames straw poll, receiving 4516 votes, or 31%. In a surprise, Gov. Mike Huckabee finished second with 2587 votes at 18.1% 11. John Cox with 41 votes. 10. John McCain with 101 votes. 9. Duncan Hunter with 174 votes. 8. Rudy Giuliani with 183 votes. 7. Fred Thomson with 231 votes. 6. Tommy Thompson, 1,009 votes, 7.3% 5. Ron Paul with 1305 votes, and 9.1% 4. Tom Tancredo with 1961 votes, 13.7%. 3. Sen. Sam Brownback with 2192 votes and 15.3% Iowa state auditor David Vaudt unofficially certified the results. 14,203 ballots were cast.

It took a while to reassign a bunch of votes to Romulan.
Seems like they sort of made up whatever numbers they thought they could get away with.

I think Ron Paul's campaign will snowball I think it will come down to Romney (who is the Party's pick)
Hopefully you're right considering this was no "vote." It was a determiner only of wealth, not popularity, since it cost $30 bucks a vote to "vote." The best results money can buy.

Plus free food, free entertainment, the opportunity to meet Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter -- as well as the candidates -- activities for the children, get some face time on national TV ... the list goes on. Perhaps Romney (or whoever) purchased the tickets so supporters of other candidates could not.

And the best free food. Jeff tried it out and brought some to the Ron Paul volunteers who were greeting people in the heat and humidity. ;) Jeff of justin.tv spoke to a few Romney people, they were curious about the camera on his head. They even interviewed him. None of the other campaigns had a live feed.

I have to say, voter fraud is all over the country. I have seen it in various local elections for at least the past decade. It's getting pretty bad on some levels.

So the variables on this little experiment are all over the place. Some were paid for and bussed in, others were not, and there was more than one candidate who had extra, unused voting cards?

I know nothing about the straw poll
who participates in it, etc
where it is located (perhaps Romney bussed in his supporters)
we knew from the beginning, this was not going to be an easy win (the Presidency for Ron Paul)

all we thought was we could win
and some of us (me) knew we would win
please try to take heart
Ron Paul may have only gotten 10 per cent of the vote in the straw poll
and don't forget Romney spent millions on this straw poll, plus all out effort
Romney had to win it to prove to the big money men behind the GOP that he should continue as their choice
Ron Paul didn't have to win it
those of us committed to putting Ron Paul in the White House don't change our mind
because of his showing in the Iowa straw poll
Darling, we are building momentum
we are still at the start
there will be an avalanche for Ron Paul at the end
because his campaign will snowball

Ron Paul supporters were all over Fox news...
they couldn't help it it was in their face!
And if anyone who watched Justin TV as I did will note, the support was there and it was great....
more people took notice today than they did yesterday!
That was the entire point of him being there!!!!
They did an amazing job...
they didn't buy votes, and still had more supporters there and HAPPY with the end results
than Romney whose supporters didn't look or sound happy after all was said and done!
