Diebold Optical-Scan System Fails in Iowa GOP Straw Poll!
Results Delayed as Atleast 1500 Paper Ballots Re-Counted By Hand (Fortunately, There WERE Paper Ballots To Re-Count!)
Ron Paul Supporters Were Right to be Worried About Republican's Choice of Diebold to Tally Votes...

As we reported on July 15, Ron Paul's supporters were concerned that Diebold touch-screen voting machines were going to be used in the Iowa Republican Straw Poll. Well, it turns out the concerns about touch-screens were misplaced, as the GOP chose paper-based Diebold optical-scan machines instead. But their fears of Diebold may well have been justified as two of their op-scan systems failed and delayed the reported results.

While GOP candidate Mitt Romney may have walked away with a winning edge in the Iowa Straw Poll, Diebold was true to form as their voting system failed to count ballots correctly. As the Des Moines Register is reporting two of Diebold's optical scanners failed and 1500 paper ballots had to be manually recounted by hand...

Voting machine difficulties delayed the announcement of the vote totals. About 1,500 ballots needed to be recounted, said Mary Tiffany, a spokeswoman for Republican Party of Iowa.

Two machines caused the problem, said State Auditor David Vaudt. “What likely happened is someone submitted their ballot too quickly after the other,” he said. The ballots from those machines were hand counted, then re-fed into the system to recalculate the vote. A campaign poll-watcher said in one instance, a black box contained 500 paper ballots but the machine’s memory said it had scanned in 498.

At least there were paper ballots that could be hand counted when the machines failed. Had the Republican's used Direct Recording Electronic (DRE) voting machines --- as millions of Americans are forced to do each Election Day --- there would have been nothing to go back to when the machines failed.

UPDATE: The Atlantic is reporting the number of ballots which had to be "re-run" as 4500.

Either way, there were reportedly 14,203 total ballots cast. So going by the Des Moines Register's reported numbers, more than 10.5% of the ballots had to be recounted. If we go by The Atlantic's reported numbers, nearly 32% of the ballots in the Iowa Republican Straw Poll had to be recounted by hand.

Ron Paul Defrauded By Iowa Straw Poll By Jim Condit, Jr NetworkAmerica 8-15-7

1. The voting process at the Iowa Straw Poll was a fraud, wrapped in lies. (Whenever those running any kind of an election use police power to hide all the ballots from the people, and then announce results (?) when supposedly (?) only they have seen the ballots those people are frauds, are acting like Stalin-esque tyrants, and their organization is a fraud.

That award goes in our current drama to the Iowa GOP leadership, namely Ted Sporer, Chuck Laudner, Mary Tiffany, Craig Robinson, and Chairman Ray Hoffman. What they did to Ron Paul and all those who paid $35 to vote in the Iowa Straw Poll, and all those who entered into a contract with them by paying $35 to support the event, is UNCONSCIONABLE!

These KGB/GESTAPO TYPES, groveling before the sinister banking powers in NYC and behind the RNC and the DNC, -- and acting as their enforcers in Iowa -- hid all the EVIDENCE (the ballots) at the Iowa Straw Poll and announced the alleged results based on their assertion alone which the rest of us are supposed to take and believe on blind faith!

I am joined by already thousands of others in saying: WE DON'T BELIEVE YOU! You hid the evidence! You have hidden the ballots and now you have had time to switch the ballots! You fronted for crooks, thieves, enemies of America, enemies of honest people everywhere!

...

There is only one reason to hide the ballots from press, from candidates, and from the people because those so hiding the ballots want to keep open the option to cheat to rig the election.

The evidence is the BALLOTS, which should have been kept in public view all day, and counted in the presence of ALL factions, before said ballots leave the public view.

...

Hear ye! Hear ye! The Ron Paul Campaign has confirmed to callers what was repeated at the event itself -- that the campaign bought and gave away 800 tickets. The "Adopt an Iowan group" (an independent effort) has published that they had collected $22,500 and purchased 643 tickets. (By the way, since the "Adopt and Iowan" page won't allow you to copy it, I have printed it out to preserve the documentation.)

So now we are being asked to believe that Ron Paul got less votes (1305) than the tickets purchased by the campaign and the "Adopt an Iowan" campaign (totally 1443) and that NO ONE in Iowa came on their own to pay $35 and vote for Ron Paul !!!!!

The Ron Paul Campaign AND the Adopt an Iowan campaign kept track of who the tickets were given to (I hope). This is enough affidavits to prove that the announced Diebold "count" was wrong. And we want to find as many other Iowa citizens as possible who paid $35 out of their own pocket to vote so we can get their affidavits also.

This seems to be a smoking gun. This will be the greatest and most irrefutable proof ever that a Diebold computer was used to rig an election!

We need the affidavits of any Iowan who voted for Ron Paul at the Ames, Iowa Straw Poll. If we succeed then we will have the proof that the Diebold computers at the Iowa Straw Poll of 2007 were rigged.

If you voted in the Iowa Straw Poll on August 11, 2007 and if you need an affidavit to make sure your vote counts, and especially if you want to help us prove whether or not the result published for Ron Paul was accurate you can go to:

Because of the heat most folks were at least trying to get in the shortest lines they could find, and it did not appear that any of the 3 locations were underutilized.

FUZZY MATH #1 So we know from the state Auditor that one 'problem' machine contained 500 votes. Assuming most machines contained a similar pattern of use, then they should also contain about the same number of votes. 60 (machines) x 500 = 30,000 votes. That is more than TWICE as many as the official count. Based on a total vote count of 14,301, if all machines were used about equally, then the average number of votes per machine SHOULD have been 238 {14,301 (total votes) / 60 (machines) = 238 votes per machine}. What are the odds that one of the machines that 'malfunctioned' and actually gave up an audited vote tally would contain TWICE as many votes as the 'average' machine? But it gets worse

FUZZY MATH #2 State Auditor David Vaudt (who unofficially certified the vote count) said that there were only 2 machines out of the 60 that were inconsistent (paper printout vs. electronic tabulation) and needed to be recounted. Mary Tiffany of the Iowa GOP said that a total of approximately 1500 votes were re-fed into the Diebold machines. Since we know that there were only two machines that were a problem and one of them contained 500 votes, then the second machine must have contained about 1000 ballots, which is more than FOUR TIMES what the 'average' machine should contain based on a total vote of 14,301. It seems more likely that there were actually 3 problem machines, and the true average per machine was about 500 votes, which would have resulted in a total vote of about 30,000 which is twice the official total vote count.

Also note that 26,000 tickets were said to have been sold, so we are asked to believe that only about half those people voted.

MORE UNUSUAL NUMBERS The day before the election the Iowa GOP stated on their web site that they expected to raise $1.2 million in ticket sales, which is 34,000+ tickets. This number jives much more closely with the fact that the single audited machine (that we know of) contained 500 ballots. The vast majority of tickets are pre-sold. Yet, on the day of the event they said they had only sold about 26,000 tickets. How did they manage to grossly overestimate the tickets to be sold (8000+ off) within 24 hours of the event?

The evening before the Straw Poll, a local TV news show carried a story that the expected attendance for the next day had just been increased from a maximum of 40,000 up to 45,000 - 50,000. Yet, according to the Iowa GOP, the very next day only 30,000 to 33,000 showed up.

Aug 13, 2007, PLEASE HELP WITH TEXAS STRAW POLL!

You all know that Ron Paul placed "only fifth" in the Iowa Straw Poll (after it took them one and a half hour to "reprogram" the voting machines, LOL).

The Texas Straw Poll in Fort Worth on August 31st to September 1st will be an even tougher nut to crack.

The Texas GOP made damn sure that only the most loyal neo-com voters and converts will participate. Only those who were GOP delegates in any of the past four election cycles are eligible to vote.

On the up-side, the Texas conservative base is indeed very conservative. Just read the Texas GOP platform. Sounds like Ron Paul himself wrote it, in many places, doesn't it? Should be quite easy to remind voters that Ron Paul is the only one with even a prayer of actually implementing this - unless they prefer another sellout like George.

Anyway, if you wan to help, please register yourself by following this link and the instructions provided there.

There are about 3,000 people who receive this RSS Feed. If only 100 of you will help, that will be absolutely awesome! With only a few hundred attendees who will vote for Ron Paul, WE WILL WIN THIS!!

They can use all of the shenanigans they want to use - in the end, we the people will win, hands down.

THANK YOU ALL!
