I just went to the google search engine in an attempt to find an online Jewish bakery because I wanted to order a moon strudel, a pastry with a lot of poppy seeds, it's very good, it's a traditional Jewish recipe.

I never type in the word "Jew" as I know it is somewhat illegal, or raises alarms. Well it looks like looking for Jewish bakeries online raises alarms too.

When I typed in "Jewish online bakery", here is a message I got:

***********

An explanation of our search results.

If you recently used Google to search for the word "Jew," you may have seen results that were very disturbing. We assure you that the views expressed by the sites in your results are not in any way endorsed by Google. We'd like to explain why you're seeing these results when you conduct this search.

A site's ranking in Google's search results relies heavily on computer algorithms using thousands of factors to calculate a page's relevance to a given query. Sometimes subtleties of language cause anomalies to appear that cannot be predicted. A search for "Jew" brings up one such unexpected result.

If you use Google to search for "Judaism," "Jewish" or "Jewish people," the results are informative and relevant. So why is a search for "Jew" different? One reason is that the word "Jew" is often used in an anti-Semitic context. Jewish organizations are more likely to use the word "Jewish" when talking about members of their faith. The word has become somewhat charged linguistically, as noted on websites devoted to Jewish topics such as these:

http://shakti.trincoll.edu/~mendele/vol01/vol01.174 http://www.jewishworldreview.com/cols/jonah081500.asp

Someone searching for information on Jewish people would be more likely to enter terms like "Judaism," "Jewish people," or "Jews" than the single word "Jew." In fact, prior to this incident, the word "Jew" only appeared about once in every 10 million search queries. Now it's likely that the great majority of searches on Google for "Jew" are by people who have heard about this issue and want to see the results for themselves.

The beliefs and preferences of those who work at Google, as well as the opinions of the general public, do not determine or impact our search results. Individual citizens and public interest groups do periodically urge us to remove particular links or otherwise adjust search results. Although Google reserves the right to address such requests individually, Google views the comprehensiveness of our search results as an extremely important priority. Accordingly, we do not remove a page from our search results simply because its content is unpopular or because we receive complaints concerning it. We will, however, remove pages from our results if we believe the page (or its site) violates our Webmaster Guidelines, if we believe we are required to do so by law, or at the request of the webmaster who is responsible for the page.

We apologize for the upsetting nature of the experience you had using Google and appreciate your taking the time to inform us about it.

Sincerely, The Google Team

So I wonder does this mean the ADL will now send a goon squad to my house to arrest me because I was looking for some moon strudel on the internet?!

What happens when you search on "Zionist"?

I wouldn't worry about searching for a phrase with Jew in it, or even just "Jew" by itself. There was a site called http://NukeIsrael.com, but of course that site got taken down rather quickly (I just checked it's back up again but with warnings about entering the site). The NukeIran.com site is up and as far as I know has never been taken down and has no warning before entering the site. The warning for http://NukeIsrael.com is because they want you to know your IP address will be recorded if you visit that site.

I think the ADL is going after bigger fish than mere peasants right now so you are safe. I don't mean to call you a peasant, they just think of most of us that way.

Your search has prompted a biographical report for Abe Foxman, Jew, fascist, fag and anti-free speech advocate.

I don't know maybe the swat team gets sent out to cart you off and take you away.

I wrote the ADL, it kind of put a damper on my desire to order a moon strudel.

That is creepy.

I really can't believe that I go to find some Jewish strudel and then that shit pops up. What a bunch of bullies.

We are sure living in some strange times.

Search google for ..anti-semitism and you will find 2,100,000 references.

Search google for...anti-goyism and you find zero references.

Heck at this point I am seriously thinking of boycotting google.

They are running off potential customers with that bizarre policy, don't even know what to call it. It's like nazis in reverse, big brother, all rolled into one.

Google has sanitized their engine for most material Jews do not want seen.

Material I use to peruse is no longer available. That is not happenstance.

I'm using yahoo now, I found out moon strudel is more commonly known as poppyseed rolls, and I found some sites that sell them and also recipes. I used to get it from a Jewish bakery when I lived in TX and really liked it.

I'm staying away from google, that was too bizarre.

This kind of "censorship" is a sign it's about ready to collapse. It's like the little Dutch boy running around putting his finger in hole after hole sprouting in the dike.

We've been making our own apple coffee cake. It is absolutely heavenly.

Poppy seeds, or any kind of seeds in pastry is just wrong.

Dying for old bastards, and their old money, isn't my idea of freedom.

When I typed in "Jewish online bakery", here is a message I got:

When the Israeli citizen in charge of "our" "Homeland Security" starting having stomach rumblings about the terrors that would beseige us in August, someone commented "Bagel shops everyone". I assumed that meant that we could find safety at Jewish bakeries...they may have taken it as a threat. The ADL doen't give a crap about Jews...they are only interested in maintaining the status quo of the international banksters' hold on their global plantation. Stifling discussion on the 'Jewish problem', stifles dissent on the banksters, who are for the most part, Jewish. That's why the ADL shakes such a big stick on the 'net...to strike fear and intimidate from doing what we need to do to free us from their tyranny. But you knew that.
