When a poster at FreeRepublic posts something negative about Bush they are often labeled a Democrat or a liberal or al-Qaeda or traitor.

Over here at Freedom4um, if I say something negative about 9/11 "truth" or the North American Union conspiracy, I am labeled a Republican, neocon, Bush shill or traitor. (Freepers, LP'ers and people who post on this site love to sling the word "traitor" around.)

Fundamentally, there is really no difference between the typical Bush supporting Freeper and some posters on this site as the example above illustrates.

There is not one post from me anywhere in support of Bush or Bush policy but that doesn't stop certain people from calling me a Bush supporter! That is EXACTLY the same kind of stupidity found on FreeRepublic.

There are posters here who are just as stupid and lazy as Freepers. They cling to their beliefs just as fiercely as Freepers and go into attack mode whenever those beliefs are challenged. They are as defensive and as juvenile and as self-righteous as Freepers. They behave exactly like Freepers.

This site should be renamed to Freedom4um Republic.

True.

There is not one post from me anywhere in support of Bush or Bush policy but that doesn't stop certain people from calling me a Bush supporter!

Why should it stop them?

It is similar, but neither behavior is necessarily stupid.

Your other posting behavior positively correlates with people the folks here prefer to avoid, like Bush supporters. Whether this correlation is sufficient to justify the response you have received depends on what kinds of classification errors one is willing to accept. A high threshold -- like a requirement of actual posts in support of Bush -- will reduce false positives but increase false negatives.

There is no objective answer to the question of what the threshold -- the tradeoff boundary -- should be.

The issue is no different than racial or ethnic discrimination. At least some discrimination is necessary for survival.

Because it's stupid to accuse someone of something without any evidence.

But there is evidence.

But there is evidence.

No, there is not.

There is not a single post from me supporting Bush or the policies of his administration.

No posts from me supporting the Iraq war, no posts supporting Bush's domestic spying program. No posts supporting Bush cabinet officials. No posts supporting the GOP.

Nothing.

There is not a single post from me supporting Bush or the policies of his administration.

That is your threshold of evidence. Why should anyone else agree to it?

It is perfectly rational to say "Given this person's posting behavior, there is a chance ~ say 10% ~ that they are a Bush supporter. Given my intense dislike for and danger presented by Bush supporters, this is sufficient for me to classify this person as one, and treat them accordingly."

It's not rational at all, it's mildly paranoid.

There is nothing in my posting history that could lead a rational person to conclude that there is a 10% chance I'm a Bush supporter.

Well, not a Bush supporter today perhaps.

But why should anyone agree to somebody else's estimate, of whatever percent?

There are no absolute musts in the universe, only contingent musts.

If you want a different reception here -- and there's no objective reason why you must want one -- you will need to conform to standards closer to those whose reception you seek.

End of story.
