The rational thinker versus the paranoid

Presented with the same evidence for a mystery, the rational thinker and the paranoid respond very differently.

The rational thinker

The paranoid

1. Checks the evidence carefully and doesn’t rely on uncertain evidence

1. Grabs onto a few pieces of evidence and defends them inflexibly.

2. Doesn’t care which evidence he must let go.

2. Seemingly irrationally seizes onto something and won’t let go.

3. Seeks a realistic answer in simple and familiar processes.

3. Invokes complex, unrealistic scenarios controlled by powerful forces behind the scenes.

4. Accepts only what he can critically assess (falsifiable ideas).

4. Deals in explanations that can never be critically assessed (unfalsifiable theories).

5. Is willing to live with unresolved explanations for long periods.

5. Demands quick, even immediate explanations.

6. Accepts the roles of chance and human foibles.

6. Invents scenarios when nothing ever goes wrong.

7. Uses same rational approach in the rest of his life.

7. Approaches many other “events” in the same irrational, paranoid way. (i.e., both people are consistent across their lives.)

8. Finds empowering explanations.

8. Feels powerless before these huge forces (victims).

9. Accepts all demonstrated evidence.

9. Will not face evidence that destroys his theory.

10. Is willing to live with some fraction of unexplained or contradictory evidence.

10. Insists on fitting everything into his explanation, often by explaining difficult items as further evidence of conspiracy.

11. Tries to keep everything in proportion.

11. Often seizes single pieces of evidence and blows them out of proportion.

12. Will change ideas a new evidence emerges.

12. Sticks to preconceived notion regardless of new evidence.

13. Open, flexible, empowered, strong.

13. Preconceived, rigid, victimlike, cowardly.

A couple of observations here.

You are obviously obsessed with the 911 truth movement. I say this because I see you spending hours on line every day shilling the Republican talking points on this subject. No other proof is necessary. If you doubt me, just call up your posts here.

Given that this dedicated shilling for the GOP side of the arguments exists, and it does, my question is why?

Why should you care if people question what the government tells them? This seems very healtyth to me and I actively encourage it. If the government tells me something, I try to verify it before swallowing it - because I have caught them lying to me in the past. From my perspective, it seems the more eyes on this matter the better. I am very happy to see people questioning every single ascpect of the event. There are some fishey parts of the story.

Are you pushing the theory that the goverment must be trusted in all cases and that fact checking is evil? Or are you worried that this fact checking might injure the Repulbican Party in the upcoming elections - the party you obviously shill for.

Your crap about this just being entertainment is obviously false. You invest too much time and effort in it for that. You lack the sense of irony and humor that others exhibit when they are just having fun. You are obviously dead serious about your shilling.

Give the above, it's pretty clear that you oppose the 911 truth movement because it harms the Republican Party.

Other interests besides the Republican Party may have an interest in squelching and discrediting dissent on 9/11. The military-industrial complex, for one.

From the table above...

3. Invokes complex, unrealistic scenarios controlled by powerful forces behind the scenes.

Nothing far fetched about the MIC.

Even Eisenhower warned about the power.

What is it with you? Do you believe everything the Goobers say? Such a state worshipper.

I know, you're going to deny it.

But, it's sad I got sucked into posting to you. You offer nothing constructive on any level and constantly disparage and badmouth all.

I've been seeing this new style of propaganda lately.

Only a very small, hard core group of morons still thinks Bush is successful. And as these goobers arn't going anywhere, so they can be ignored. The GOP needs the moderates and Independents to win and they can only get these by distancing themselves from Bush.

I think this is why every Freeper shill I see now claims to not support Bush. The goal of the GOP is to distance itself from Bush by 2008. They do not want to be the party that gave us Bush and the Iraq war when the next election rolls around.

Secondly, I think the Republican Party has become synonymous with dishonest propaganda. A shill can't come off as a Republican without taking on the taint of Fox News, the New York Post, The Washington Times, Michael Savage, Limbaugh, Coulter and the rest of the dishonest crew. Moderates and Independents roll their eyes when these goob foolers open up. Hence, shill like O'Reilly and the rest claim to be independents. They need to distance themselves from the now discredited GOP shills that came before.

So the question becomes, how do you shill for the GOP if you have to come off as an Independent who doesn't like Bush?

Do as Mister Clean does. Don't take a positive stand on anything, but disparage anything that hurts the party. And disparage it in very vague terms that can be denied when challenged. The goal isn't to logically challenge rational people. The GOP knows it can't do this and it gave up on thinking people long ago.

The real goal is to move the overton window in favor of an overbearing, parternalistic Republican theocratic government. The goal is to make questioning the official government stories on things such as 911 seem slightly dirty. Or to make wondering if there is really a problem with the credit markets seem slightly kookey. Or to make examination of anything that smacks of GOP failure somehow "wrong". The goal is to make the goobs think all is rosey and that only conspiracy nuts examine reality.

You display the following paranoid behaviors...

3. Invokes complex, unrealistic scenarios controlled by powerful forces behind the scenes.

4. Deals in explanations that can never be critically assessed (unfalsifiable theories).

Thank you for admiting I was correct in my analysis.

I note that you didn't address a single point I made above. You simply hurled feces and tried to change the subject to a trivial argument. This is Freeper talk for "Yes, you are correct, but I don't like it".

If I was wrong in anything I said above, and you could prove it, you would have been all over it like stink on a monkey's butt. Instead, you try to divert the course of the discussion.

ROTFLOL!!

Thank you for admiting I was correct in my analysis.

I simply pointed out your paranoia.

I presented an argument that characterized you.

You didn't address a single point I made. Instead, you tossed out childish insults and tried to change the subject.

This says that you don't have a counter argument and that I am correct. Your silly Freeper attack proves this out.

But you know that. You just don't want the people you are trying to fool to know that.
