The rational thinker versus the paranoid

Presented with the same evidence for a mystery, the rational thinker and the paranoid respond very differently.

The rational thinker

The paranoid

1. Checks the evidence carefully and doesn’t rely on uncertain evidence

1. Grabs onto a few pieces of evidence and defends them inflexibly.

2. Doesn’t care which evidence he must let go.

2. Seemingly irrationally seizes onto something and won’t let go.

3. Seeks a realistic answer in simple and familiar processes.

3. Invokes complex, unrealistic scenarios controlled by powerful forces behind the scenes.

4. Accepts only what he can critically assess (falsifiable ideas).

4. Deals in explanations that can never be critically assessed (unfalsifiable theories).

5. Is willing to live with unresolved explanations for long periods.

5. Demands quick, even immediate explanations.

6. Accepts the roles of chance and human foibles.

6. Invents scenarios when nothing ever goes wrong.

7. Uses same rational approach in the rest of his life.

7. Approaches many other “events” in the same irrational, paranoid way. (i.e., both people are consistent across their lives.)

8. Finds empowering explanations.

8. Feels powerless before these huge forces (victims).

9. Accepts all demonstrated evidence.

9. Will not face evidence that destroys his theory.

10. Is willing to live with some fraction of unexplained or contradictory evidence.

10. Insists on fitting everything into his explanation, often by explaining difficult items as further evidence of conspiracy.

11. Tries to keep everything in proportion.

11. Often seizes single pieces of evidence and blows them out of proportion.

12. Will change ideas a new evidence emerges.

12. Sticks to preconceived notion regardless of new evidence.

13. Open, flexible, empowered, strong.

13. Preconceived, rigid, victimlike, cowardly.

Nothing far fetched about the MIC.

Even Eisenhower warned about the power.

What is it with you? Do you believe everything the Goobers say? Such a state worshipper.

I know, you're going to deny it.

But, it's sad I got sucked into posting to you. You offer nothing constructive on any level and constantly disparage and badmouth all.

The paranoid column reads exactly like your typical GOPER. The GOP is a party of enemies. Myriad enemies - everywhere. One long line of enemies out to "destroy America". Plotting and planning- for generations- to bring America to ruin. Saddam Hussein was going to kill us by the millions with his drones of death and nuke clouds. Liberals and leftists - secretly esconced everywhere want to destroy America and surrender to Moooslems. And of course the Moooslims want to rule the world (you can tell by all their foreign military bases and invasions of non moosslem lands). If not the Mooslims why it is the Spics- Cause some college kids who call themselves Aztlan want to "take over America". If not the spics- then the Chinks. "Red" China is coming to get us you see- they are planning something sneeky! Let's not forget the "Gays". The gays are trying to make our kids queermos- with their "Gay agenda". Tommorrow it will be Bantu tribesmen who are the "Threat". One absurd idiotic enemy after another and a laundry list of absurd conspiracies for each one.

know, you're going to deny it.

But, it's sad I got sucked into posting to you. You offer nothing constructive on any level and constantly disparage and badmouth all.

I've been seeing this new style of propaganda lately.

Only a very small, hard core group of morons still thinks Bush is successful. And as these goobers arn't going anywhere, so they can be ignored. The GOP needs the moderates and Independents to win and they can only get these by distancing themselves from Bush.

I think this is why every Freeper shill I see now claims to not support Bush. The goal of the GOP is to distance itself from Bush by 2008. They do not want to be the party that gave us Bush and the Iraq war when the next election rolls around.

Secondly, I think the Republican Party has become synonymous with dishonest propaganda. A shill can't come off as a Republican without taking on the taint of Fox News, the New York Post, The Washington Times, Michael Savage, Limbaugh, Coulter and the rest of the dishonest crew. Moderates and Independents roll their eyes when these goob foolers open up. Hence, shill like O'Reilly and the rest claim to be independents. They need to distance themselves from the now discredited GOP shills that came before.

So the question becomes, how do you shill for the GOP if you have to come off as an Independent who doesn't like Bush?

Do as Mister Clean does. Don't take a positive stand on anything, but disparage anything that hurts the party. And disparage it in very vague terms that can be denied when challenged. The goal isn't to logically challenge rational people. The GOP knows it can't do this and it gave up on thinking people long ago.

The real goal is to move the overton window in favor of an overbearing, parternalistic Republican theocratic government. The goal is to make questioning the official government stories on things such as 911 seem slightly dirty. Or to make wondering if there is really a problem with the credit markets seem slightly kookey. Or to make examination of anything that smacks of GOP failure somehow "wrong". The goal is to make the goobs think all is rosey and that only conspiracy nuts examine reality.

That's exactly what I mean; as Bush mentioned once, crawdaddying all over the place. You derided what may be the motives and interests of the MIC in manipulating public information, yet you now claim that the MIC is not farfetched which was a reasonable inference from your citing that item from the list in the column.

Just an aside, you may wish to reread the list; those who are investigating and digging into the lies around 11/9 actually fall more into the reasonable and rational columns than those who constantly disparage their quest for more information about the whole sordid episode.

It's not as if you offer any defense of the Government approved Conspiracy Scenario, you just badmouth any efforts to investigate its veracity.

It's a real juvenile method of interacting on internet forums, which as you maybe claimed are worthless and ineffectual, (don't want to make you deny something you never claimed, I don't, no sir) when your posting "style" just makes you a gadfly, akin to a fly in a room that one gets tired of trying to swat and then simply ignores, sometimes by putting a small piece of rotten fruit for it to alight upon, gorging itself and not buzzing around in irritating but ultimately harmless and thankfully ineffectual motions.

There is no conflict in acknowledging the existence of the military industrial complex and ridiculing the noting that they could be trying to attack 9/11 "truth" on Internet message boards.

The "truth" movement is full of morons and clowns who discredit themselves far more effectively than some organized campaign could.

Well, then, what're you doing? Dismembering the discredited 911 movement.

What're you afraid of...it'll have some Jesus like resurrection and return from the dead.

Will it attack like a reborn zombie?

He, you seem awfully concerned about a movement that's on it's last legs.

Thing is, you guys can't even leave well enough alone - the 119 Official Story has been enshrined - the Cover Up worked - yet you still get your knickers in a twist about a few "oddball" websites that deride the Party Line.

So, if it's that stupid a movement, why bother to discredit it anymore. Consider that antics like yours lend credence that even after 6 years, the mere shining of any light upon the events causes you enough concern that you have to go after the guys holding the flashlight.

Good point. I am very suspicious of anyone who seems to devote their entire posting life to stopping people from fact checking a government story. And that is what this guy does - just call up his posts to verify this.

It makes me wonder what the stake is here. Who is hurt by questioning the government line on the 911 story?

And note that this isn't just a game as the guy claims. He's a bit too dedicated and a bit too humorless in the task for that.

Fucking Bush for starters.

Humorless, single minded, using slippery rhetoric to imply without saying and then deny the common sense inference of his statements.

Reminds me of some other types without the verbiage, the asking for sources and general contempt for anything questioning the official line, which though never explicitly supported is always the base and starting point ofany responses or so called rebuttals.

And the putting of words into peoples mouths.

Funny thing. I've seen plenty of guys off the side of the road with the sign that reads "The world ends Tomorrow." A nut? maybe, but I've never seen the amount of time and effort expended on him to prove him wrong that I have on those who question FEDGOV's 9/11 fairy tail.
