Hi ATKHWDI ... I find this particular scripture extremely interesting because I think it could be directing us to know that there are two means by which Christ satisfies the "Law" ... which God can't violate or He ain't God, and at the same time affords Redemption to "his kin-folk" (Israelites) and Salvation to the entire world that is willing. Which allows all an opportunity to enter His Kingdom ... wherever it is located.

You may have already considered this, but humor me.

First he says [to raise up the tribes of Jacob,][and to restore the preserved of Israel] ... THIS SPEAKS TO the LAW OF REDEMPTION which requires a blood relative to suffer the penalty in the place of ANOTHER BLOOD RELATIVE. (These sorts of redemption laws have been a part of our own laws until fairly recently. Relatives (usually immediate family) were sometimes allowed to do the time for a father/brother/son etc., so that the penalty was paid while the actual perpetrator was able to plant/harvest crops etc.

1st. Raise up - like resurrect, in order to REDEEM the preserved of Israel Blood Relatives ...

2nd. for a light unto the Gentiles (Non-relatives) that thou mayest be my SALVATION (to whomsoever will)

I'm sure God knows what He's doing. He is the Universal Lawmaker, things like relativity and gravity are simplistic concepts that He has put into motion and they are never violated, which attests to his Law Making authority relative to nature. And we have some sense of these and continue to inquire about them.

Jesus said something to the effect of ... How can I show you heavenly things when you can't understand earthly things. I don't think many understand the totality of the Law as it relates to the blood sacrifice. And while many will allude to spiritual concepts making nearly everything simply something said with "Spiritual" meaning; it is often the last resort when not understood or appears inexplicable ... the Blood Sacrifice was real, the Law of Gravity is real, and our inability to comprehend God is also real.

quickly, my understanding...

The "preserved" of Israel are those who didn't 'bend the knee to Baal', iow, those who remained faithful to the word of God.

...seems I read somewhere that Jesus is our KINSMAN REDEEMER. Is He not the 'root and offspring of David'?

The Israelites were a MIXED MULTITUDE to begin with ....note that some of Jacob's wives were BONDWOMEN. They could have been Gentiles. They had even married into the Canaanites:

Jdg 3:5 ¶ And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites:

Look up gentiles in the concordance....it often means "nations".

There's plenty to figure out and possibly much that will never be figured out without Divine intervention.
