Are you sure he's actually 'in' the asylum. Because if he's 'in', then maybe the nurse is giving him placebos while making mucho money selling those potent meds on the undocumented market.
I don't think it would be a good thing if the LP went down. While I am half-banned there, I still say exactly what I want, whenever I feel like. Try that on any other 'moderated' sites and you will get yourself banned within hours.
I saw myself banned from FR, Dailykos, Demo Undeground, Lucianne... Oh... no... on Lucianne I didn't even bother to sign up, after I read some of the stupid moderator's brain excreta.
There are many people I disagree at the LP site but, sometimes, disagreement is not such a bad thing if it can be discussed and the LP is often a place where disagreements can be discussed even though, most of the time, the whole thing degenerates into a shouting exercise but that can be entertaining too.

They got me thrown out of Freakville after I kept running up the Anti anti-semetic flag. Same thing at LP, I just feel unwanted. So far Christine has not threatened me with bodily harm but one never knows. One of these day, boot and out I go.
I have today and yesterday been forced to address issues that I don't have time to be dealing with. As a result, I have banned Gatlin and Rhino369. I have had to close other accounts due to their total internet stupidity. I won't mention their names. I have also deleted several threads where one poster attacked another.
For the time being, these kinds of actions will result in immediate and permanent bannings. I'm not spending my time dealing with you when I need to find a job to support myself.
How inconsiderate of you all.
I am so disgusted with these actions that I may not bother with keeping this site up at all if it continues. - Goldi-Lox
I feel that what we see here is just a slice of the problem we have in large in our nation.
We have spent so long living under growing constraints that our governments put on our behavior that even those of us who choose to fight for more freedom often can't seem to afford our fellow patriots the freedom to express themselves without being insulted.
I side with Goldi in that it is a tough job trying to maintain civil behavior among discussion members.
BTW - doesn't Christine do a great job!
I challenge each of you to fight for each other's freedom and not insult fellow citizens.

I take that as a compliment - thanks.

I take that as a compliment - thanks. Well, shucks, spoiled my whole attempt at humor.
I just could not pass up the chance.
I do throw Christine red meat now and then to see if she is still up to par.
I could also agree with your assessment but then I would also be an apple polisher. hehehehehehe
You did well. I like humor.
About 20 years ago I bought my first piece of land to live on. It was one of those 1.something acre lots where a bunch of 1st time landowners proceed to tame the wilderness. One thing that struck me was the attitude of - "this is my land and I'll behave damn well as I wish" that was so prevalent. As it turned out, my next-door neighbor was so weird (actually, the worst human Ive ever met) that I was ready to do him great bodily harm. I chose to move a bit further from neighbors.
My point is that along with freedom comes the responsibility to respect that of one's fellow citizens.

I preach civility. I learned that from Churchill. I recall long ago he said, "it costs me nothing to be civil to a man, even if I am going to hang him the next day".
Hey guys. I signed up here a couple months ago, although I don't think I posted yet, or much at least.
I sent Goldi an email saying it was joke, and that me and Yukon had gone back and forth in small flame wars before and they are always fairly non malicious.
If she accepts I'll apologize to LP, but honestly I see worse stuff posted there every single day.
If Badeye or Trace make a break for it, I got dibs on first burst. LP serves a vital national service in keeping all the worst of the worst posters on the Internet locked up in one place.
Goldie banned me supposedly for announcing I was coming over here to post though I made no such announcement. I had said I was taking a break while she looked at Byteshredder's posts as I requested. Nothing was ever done about his threats to me. But hey if she thinks he is a better poster she is welcome to him. I miss a few people from over there but this really is the better forum and I see LPs Alexa numbers have dropped 50% since I have been gone.

Many are also in prison, nursing homes, libraries, and insane asylums.
You made that up. Admit it.
Well, kinda.
About three years ago, when christine and I were driving to shoot, we got into a discussion about some of the posters on FR, and we concluded that many of the posters there, now like on lp, had to be in some sort of cuckoo's nest.

Orwell seemed to like it when he fought for them in the Spanish Civil war. Ironic enough the two major sides and their "advisors", despite being backed by political opposites (Soviet Russia vs Nazi Germany), both worked hand in hand to crush the anti-statist anarchist movement ASAP.

This is why RP's message resonates with so many in our country.
Get out of our lives, and leave us alone - is all that we ask.
I am currently engaged in a full time job search. As such, I don't have time or patience to deal with childish antics by those of you who ARE currently employed.
Can't she make money hanging out on the internet all day?

Running a forum is a tough job, and the more diverse the views you want to have on your forum, the harder it is. You get more fights, mud slinging, and complaints, and when your resolve the complaints, invariable up to 50% of the parties involved are pissed at your decision, and that's if you do it right.
The more views you restrict from the forum, the easier it is. It's up to each owner to decide what they want/how much crap they want to put up with.
Goldi's moderating is very biased; for example, she never did explain why she banned aristeides (because she didn't have a good reason).
It's the emotional factor. It plays a big role in her moderation.
I'm sorry she's lost her job. Certainly a bummer and something that's making her talk about closing down. But it wouldn't be a bad bet that that she has no intention of shutting down LP. Didn't see it posted on this thread but apparently someone complained to LP's ISP about release of personal info. I'm sure that's irritated her some. Something about radio call signs and a federal index site allowing people to cross refererence them to home addrs. (Seems the complainer needs to get off his federal radio roster).
Yes, Christine does a super job of keeping this 4um a place of free speech, tolerating the venting of a variety of extreme views.
One might have to question the I.Q. of anyone that put up with the brazen hostility towards free speech demonstrated at all of the aforementioned forums excepting 4UM.
It's tempting to obstruct speech one finds offensive by imposing bans or threatening them ... it's worse to accept them.

I missed that! LP does attract the most unsavory federales. ;)
Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be given the person's name and address. If you then hit Map Quest, you will get a map to the person's house. Everyone should be aware of this! It's a nationwide reverse telephone book.
If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and alarming.
Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. I tried my number and it came up along with the map quest and directions straight to our house. I did fill out the removal form for myself, and encourage all of you to do the same. Quite scary.
Please look up your own number.
In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to: google (http://www.google.com/) Type your phone number in the search bar (i.e. 555-555-1212) and hit enter. If you want to B L O C K Google from divulging your private information, simply click on your telephone number and then click on the Removal Form. Removal takes 48-hours.
Check your own number and although this may not apply to you if you have an unlisted number or cell phone as primary contact, but you may know someone who needs to know this.

Several years ago there was too much info available online from certain states about birth records. A complaint was filed and CA pulled back info. In bygone days, it took a court order, several forms and several weeks to get this info. And that was assuming you knew where to start looking. Now you just type someone's name into a search engine hooked to the right databases.
I tried my number and it came up along with the map quest and directions straight to our house.
I had done that before. Want something REALLY scary? On that map, click the satellite image. When I did that it pulled up an image in good enough detail to be able to see the stock tanks in our pastures! And I don't know if it's possible to "block" this out. You can scroll the satellite image and see all of your neighbors etc, and keep "following it down the road" to check out everything you want for as long as you've got time to keep looking...

You could erect a huge umbrella to cover your entire property....
I recently left three forums due to bad moderation. The hypocrisy was starting to overtop my chest waders.
I know what you mean.
I was banned from my local newspaper forum for, IMHO - being damned good at presenting my point.
I was banned from http://freerepublic.com for, IMHO - being damned good at presenting my point.
Ive only become more talented at doing what they hate and I notice Im not along in this.
My goal is to deal as much misery as possible to sites that ban citizens for merely possessing a view contrary to the official "new speak".

but her bitching about it for years now is enough already.
A somewhat subtle part of the communications process is that -
as long as someone is complaining about something, they have hope of things improving. It's when they fall silent that you know someone has given up hope.
From what I've seen about these discussion boards is that we all tend to use them as a teething ring that does satisfy, to some degree, our need to struggle against our social problems.

I've been on discussion boards for over a decade now and in that time I have never had to report anyone for abuse - not once.
In fact, I get a uncanny sense of pleasure out of having to deal with anyone who wishes to attempt to insult me.
I have had to bozo a few people, but it's because they seem to spout out only nonsense.
The thing that really steams me is when I can't find a worthy opponent to debate!

If you want a 'throw-away' phone number that doesn't cost a dime, just out this service http://www.privatephone.com/ .
You get your own local(in most cases) phone number that rings into your own voicemail box. You can even establish a number not in your area code, say you wanted to appear to be from Houston versus Toledo.
You can call into to retrieve you messages and/or you can be alerted and have the messages sent to your email. (need soundcard to hear messages from email)
Don't know how they are doing this for free although to do sell extended features like call forwarded, etc.
Actually- the Soviet Secret Police in Spain- the NKVD- spent more time repressing the anarchists than it did helping in the fight against Franco's forces.
Goldie banned me supposedly for announcing I was coming over here to post though I made no such announcement.
I can attest to that. I didn't even know you were here until yesterday and I was on that thread were you were banned. She said that's why, but when I looked to see where you were going, I could not find the post. I did find Comment pulled: blahblahblah and something about not promoting other sites....

Yes that was a link to here. There was a thread here asking if Twenty Twelve could be enticed over. My post there was simply asking if he could be enticed with a link here. I saw it as a courtesy ping. I've linked many web sites and other forums there before including my own, never was a problem. Yukon made a big deal out of that one post though and then I was banned. He is the one who called that post to Goldi's attention and more was made out it than there was. I had said I was taking a break, those posts are still there. I wanted to give Goldi a chance to read my email since she has asked me for time to do so. Instead of dealing with Byteshredder's threats she bans me for a bogus reason, says nothing to Byte and then bans others for supposedly making threats
At the time Goldi banned me for posting here I was also posting on 4 other forums all of which I had linked there at one time or another including Funky Frog which I had linked several times.
Edit: LibertyPost's Alexus numbers are down 55% in the last three months.

I wouldn't worry about any of it. Just know that some people think of the net as just the net and posters as just screen names. They will never understand that you are a real person until they meet you in "real life". That's something that I have learned recently. Most people are not the same in person as they are on the net. Unfortunately, I am the same on the net and some just don't get it. The net is their playground and I just don't want to play that game. That's why I use the screen name that I use. Because it is me. My real name (a portion thereof) and not some made up pseudonym.
My paternal grandparents eventually came around to liking at least a few Paul McCartney tunes.
