Based on past government operations like the WTC 1993 bombing and the OKC bombing, in my view, it is very plausible that al-Qaeda was a CIA operation that recruited useful idiots and "true believers" to participate in 9/11.
However, as the evidence mounts, it appears the plot may have included more than 19 useful idiots and stand down orders for our air defense system.
I hate to bring up this vague recollection, but I recall about a year ago a fairly young (25 or so) soldier came forward with his story of what happened at his little base when 9/11 occurred. He could have been an airman I just don't recall. It was hot news for a few days and I haven't seen anything about him or by him since.
I think he may have worked in communications and was at some sort of semi- secure installation in CONUS. If you don't know what I'm referring to then I don't blame you.

I recall the story. He was a firsthand witness to the stand down order while stationed at a USAF base in Florida, maybe MacDill.
I was wondering just the other day about what happened to him. I heard him in an interview with Alex Jones when the story first broke. He sounded very legitimate.
Alex Jones interview of Sgt. Lauro Chavez who has made sensational charges regarding a stand-down order on 9/11, among other things, charges based on his personal experiences at MacDill Force Base while working for CENTCOM.
