Title: David Horowitz ‘Declares’ Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week for October 22-26

“This October 22-26, I am declaring Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week,” declared David Horowitz Tuesday in a friendly interview on http://FrontpageMag.com, one of Horowitz’s many front groups. “I will hold demonstrations and protests, teach-ins and sit-ins on more than 100 college campuses. Our theme will be the Oppression of Women in Islam and the threat posed by the Islamic crusade [????] against the West.”

Horowitz, who, along with Frank Gaffney, James Woolsey, and Rick Santorum has played a truly vanguard role in the “Islamo-Fascism” movement, apparently has few doubts about his impact. “During the week of October 22-26, 2007, the nation will be rocked by the biggest conservative campus protest ever – Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, a wake-up call for Americans on 200 university and college campuses.” The event will confront the two “Big Lies of the political left:” that “George Bush created the war on terror and that Global Warming is a greater danger to Americans than the terrorist threat.” In fact, according to Horowitz, Islamo-fascism constitutes “the greatest danger Americans have ever confronted.”

Horowitz, president of the David Horowitz Freedom Center (previously the Center for the Study of Popular Culture) editor-in-chief of http://FrontPageMag.com, and founder of Students for Academic Freedom, is, of course, a former leading New Leftist who has found fame and fortune – he made $352,647 in 2005, according to tax records – on the extreme right and has done particularly well since 9/11 when he got in on the “Islamo-fascist” ground floor.

“Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week,” according to Horowitz will be a “national effort …to rally American students to defend their country” and will feature “memorial services for the victims of Islamic terror both in America and around the globe” (the guide suggests putting up crosses to commemorate victims presumably regardless of their religion); sit-ins (Horowitz suggests the office of the Women’s Studies Department or the campus Women’s Centers “to protest their silence about the oppression of women in Islam”) teach-ins on ‘’The Oppression of Women in Islam;” “a student petition denouncing Islamo-Fascist violence against women, gays, Christians, Jews and non-religious people” (and press releases at the ready if Muslim student groups, campus administrators, or student government officers fail to sign); and prominent speakers, such as the American Enterprise Institute’s (AEI) Ayan Hirsi Ali, columnist Mark Steyn, Frank Gaffney, Daniel Pipes, Rick Santorum, as well as Horowitz himself.

In addition, participants will distribute pamphlets on Islamo-Fascism, including “The Islamic Mein Kampf,” “Why Israel is the Victim,” “Jimmy Carter’s War Against the Jews,” “And What Every American Needs to Know About Jihad.” Films to be shown include “Suicide Killers,” “Obsession” (about which my colleague, Khody Akhavi, wrote earlier this year), or “Islam: What the West Needs to Know.” For the films, Horowitz advises campus organizers to invite a “local radio host or other local figure to introduce the film and possibly moderate a discussion on it afterwards.” Organizers are encouraged to request funding from the student government. If is not forthcoming, according to the Guide, “it will prove the hypocrisy of your university’s claim to be committed to intellectual diversity and academic freedom.” Other possible funders and sponsors include Young Americans Foundation, the Leadership Institute, the campus College Republican club and Hillel,

The program clearly models itself after strategies employed by left-wing radicals in the 1960s and 1970s but is careful to protect the campus rules and local laws that Horowitz’s ideological enemies on the left would blatantly disregard. Organizers of the sit-ins are explicitly warned not to obstruct university operations or violate university rules. As my colleague, Eli Clifton noted, it combines some of the hardware of the 1960s student movement with the software of Horowitz’s hard-right – dare one say it? Islamophobic — ideology.

According to tax records obtained through the Foundation Center, Horowitz has been the beneficiary in recent years of a number of far-right foundations, including the Allegheny ($575,000 since 2001), Carthage ($125,000) and Sarah Scaife Foundations ($800,000) – all three are part of Richard Scaife’s empire and the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation (nearly $1.3 million). The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation ($475,000) also contributed nearly $500,000 to Horowitz’s enterprises over the same period.

Anyone who uses the term "Islamo-fascist" can be dismissed as a low-functioning retard.

Several millenia of inbreeding will do that to you.

If I'm really dead, how come I hurt so bad?

Wilkerson: Israel warned us on Iraq

Published: 08/30/2007

A former senior U.S. official says Israel warned the Bush administration in the lead-up to the Iraq war that Iran posed a greater threat.

"The Israelis were telling us Iraq is not the enemy -- Iran is the enemy," Lawrence Wilkerson, the State Department's policy planning chief at the time, told Inter Press Service in an article appearing on http://antiwar.com, a Web site that is otherwise often critical of Israel.

As early as the first part of 2002, Israel's message was, "If you are going to destabilize the balance of power, do it against the main enemy," Wilkerson said, recalling a message he described as "pervasive."

Israel did not counsel an immediate attack, the story quotes Wilkerson as saying, but warned that the Bush administration "should not be distracted by Iraq and Saddam Hussein" from the Iran threat. Israel-based sources have reported similar warnings.

At the time, Israeli leaders mostly heeded Bush administration requests not to weigh in publicly one way or another on the Iraq war.

“Yes, but is this good for Jews?"

Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week

Any issue that needs activists to "raise Awareness" is a 100 percent fraud.

Quite simply- "Islmo Facism" doesn't exist. It is a bogus ideological construct. No one really fears "Islamo Facism"- even Horowitz. He is full of it. Real dangers and threats don't need packs of ideological goosesteppers staging sit-ins and raving like morons to get attention. The reason why Horowitz and his ilk need to do things like have "Islamo Facism Awareness Weeks" is precisely because no one actually fears or feels threatened by this idiotic made up danger. They have to create the fear and hate since your average America has never and will never face any sort of harm whatsoever- either directly or indirectly- from an "Islamo Fascist" (though plenty of Muslems will be harmed by Americans in quite real deadly ways).

Like most "threats" this country has faced- "Islamo Facism" is a complete made up fraud.

This country has no natural enemies- none. It goes in search of them- or, as in this case, just creates them out of thin air.

By the way, I would be interested to see what sort of "men" would actually display their pathetic cowardice and abject stupidity over a bunch of stateless third world scimitar wielders half a world away whose entire culture taken together has less of an industrial output than Finland by participating in this "Awareness Week".

This is a country full of dimwitted sissified cowards and frankly- they deserve to have half their stuff taken by the Feds and a police state.

BTW, the far-right Zionists have scored another victory over Norman Finkelstein, the DePaul professor who was denied tenure after pressure from Aipac and other Zionist and Israeli groups. Not content just to deny him tenure, DePaul canceled all his classes, which were packed with students supporting him and his anti-Zionist message. So they're paying him NOT to teach (professors normally have a year to continue teaching after being denied tenure). Students are staging sit-ins and Finkelstein is going to teach his courses anyway, outdoors if necessary.

This is way past unfair denial of tenure now. It's plain out-and-out censorship by large donors to DePaul who happen to support Zionism.

Here's his Web site.

Horrorwitz is among the people who have harassed this guy for the past five years, at least. I've heard him speak, and he's exactly what a college professor should be. Very bright, very educated, and a compelling speaker.

No. He is needed to tell people of this "threat" that they would normally know nothing about as they are more likely to die in their bathtubs from falls than from an "Islamo-fascist".

The fact of the matter is that even the stupid dolts who suck up this crap know on an instinctual practical level, their day to day lives, that they are in no danger from "islamo facism". This isn't a real threat and they know it. Real threats don't need "awareness weeks".

This "threat" is an utter abstraction to everyone in this country. It isn't real. America however, is a very real threat to Muslems- ask the dead hundreds of thousands of them.

So the fat slob NRO readers, safe in their corporate cubicles won't be joining up anytime soon to fight this "Greatest of threats" as they know it is no such thing in real life. They need to excite themsevles with fraud "threats" that only "they know about as everyone else is asleep and not 'aware' like they are." But it is a game. In reality they have as much connection to the war in Iraq and events in the Middle East as they do to a mudslide in Peru.

Not quite true. The idiotic buzzword was invented by people who are very adept at something, namely, making lies and propaganda for consumption by low- functioning mental retards.

The next time you hear some sheeple use the phrase, be sure to ask them what it means (or better still, just have them define "fascism" and notice the blank look on their face).

The irony is that neoconservatism has more in common with Fascist ideology than anything in Iran or Iraq does. Even under the nuttiest Ayatollah, Iran never attacked or invaded any other country. The neocon-run Bush Administration has, just as Mussolini's Italy and Hitler's Germany have.

And isn't it funny that back in the day when Horowitz and his pals were Trotskyites rather than "conservatives," they called their enemies "fascists" too. Why not just say what they mean: "Bad guys that we don't like" or something like that. I guess it's not catchy enough.
