That's certainly what BushCo would say now. In fact they still use the number of American dead to justify the ongoing carnage, as if a president is entitled to waste 55,000 lives even in doomed to fail undertakings because of the precedent of Vietnam. And, of course just as no congressman lost a son or daughter in Nam, it's easy to understand why today's bloody elite can be so matter of fact about the lives they waste.
It's a pity that the only thing about that ghastly war that BushCo learned was the skewed number of reported KIA.

Ralph Nader was beautiful talking with Bill Maher tonight. He said a law should be passed that no congressman should have health care until every American does, and when a war is imminent then the law should require that all service aged sons and daughters of politicians including Jenna and what's-her-name should be sent in to fight.
If they truly believe in their holy mission then let them subsidize it with their own blood and kin.
Of course just as snakes don't swallow their own tails, politicians don't pork themselves in the butt with laws like these.
