FDNY commander said south tower implosion "too even" to be caused by jet fuel

A man described as "the premiere collapse expert in the country" thought the collapse of the south tower of the WTC was caused by explosives and not jet fuel, before the implosion of the north tower killed him on 9/11.

Deputy Chief Ray Downey, the head of the FDNY's Special Operations Command, was also described by colleagues as "the most knowledgeable person on building collapses there was," and 9/11 Commissioner Timothy Roemer referred to Downey as a "very, very respected expert on building collapse."

According to a World Trade Center Task Force interview with FDNY' Chaplain Father John Delendick, immediately after the collapse of the south tower at 9:59am, Delendick met with Downey below the nearby World Financial Center and asked him if jet fuel had brought about the bizarre and sudden implosion of the building. According to Delendick, Downey "said at that point he thought there were bombs up there because it was too even."

Downey was a highly respected figure, having commanded rescue operations at both the 1993 WTC bombing and the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. His colleagues simply referred to him as "God" or "The Master of Disaster". Downey was a 39-year FDNY veteran and the most highly decorated firefighter in its history.

What most people don't know is that the jet fuel fires only burned for several minutes, as per the official NIST reports. The jet fuel ignited OFFICE FIRES throughout the affected areas, but they were just ordinary office fires, not jet fuel fires.

Not only were they just office fires, they were office fires that flared up for only 20min or so and moved on.

It took over 60min for the fire to migrate in wtc1 to the south face where the claimed NIST bowing caused the tower to be "poised" for a gravity collapse.

In wtc2, it took around 20min for the fires to migrate to the NIST claimed east face bowing.

The NIST boils it down to a 40min office fire, where ALL the SFRM is removed, except for heat trap soffits. and then claims the shortening of the core girders, pull on the sagging trusses, which in turn pull on the perimiter columns, and then global collapse ensues.

"I was real close to Building 7 when it fell down... That didn't sound like just a building falling down to me while I was running away from it. There's a lot of eyewitness testimony down there of hearing explosions. [..] and the whole time you're hearing "boom, boom, boom, boom, boom." I think I know an explosion when I hear it... — Former NYC Police Officer and 9/11 Rescue Worker Craig Bartmer

Exactly. What it boils down to is that the amount of thermal energy released into the structure was insufficient to weaken the structure to the point of collapse. The energy was not only relatively small, but the structure was only exposed to it for a very short duration of time.

The thermal inertia of the structure was enormous, where it would have taken an enormous amount of heat a very large amount of time to heat the structure sufficiently enough to cause a collapse.

I kind of think it is logical that if he thought the first one fell due to explosions planted, then he would not or should not have been in the 2'nd one when it fell. Unfortunately, he was in that building. I wonder why?
