This should make everyone think, be you Democrat, Republican or Independent

From a California school teacher - - -'As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:

I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels.

Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens , Huntington Park , etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 Schools.

Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight.

About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (Our TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; My budget was already substantial.

I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America . (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less than 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them 'Putas' whores and throwing things at the teachers who were in tears.

Free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc., etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements?

To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes; spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.

Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc., etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes.

We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it.

Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?

There are many hardworking Hispanic/American citizens that contribute to our country and many that I consider my true friends. We should encourage and accept those Hispanics who have done it the right and legal way.

It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate, and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about 'politically correct' that we don't have the will to do anything about it. If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know.

CHEAP LABOR?

Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about?

Business doesn't want to pay a decent wage.

Consumers don't want expensive produce..

Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs.

But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase 'cheap labor' is a myth, a farce, and a lie. There is no such thing as 'cheap labor.'

Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or $6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets and 'earned income credit' of up to $3,200 free.

He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent.

He qualifies for food stamps.

He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care.

His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school.

He requires bilingual teachers and books. He qualifies for relief from high energy bills.

If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI. Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare. All of this is at

(our) taxpayer's expense.

He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance.

Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.

He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits.

Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills and his.The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up.

Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT! Wake up people. THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS WE SHOULD BE ADDRESSING TO THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES FOR EITHER PARTY. AND WHEN THEY LIE TO US AND DON'T DO AS THEY SAY, WE SHOULD REPLACE THEM AT ONCE!'

THIS HAS GOT TO BE PASSED ALONG TO AS MANY AS POSSIBLE OR WE WILL ALL GO DOWN THE DRAIN BECAUSE A FEW DON'T CARE.

As US citizens, we need to VOICE how we feel NOW - being quiet is what got us where we are now - if we continue to be quiet who knows where we will be in another 10 years.... SO SPEAK UP!

If you are an illegal alien, you are not eligible for free health care, SS payments, subsidized housing or any other government program. You can get care at emergency rooms, true, but that's quite different than having free health care. I doubt the person who wrote this is a teacher. There is no such thing as ONE DEPARTMENT having $700K extra that they HAVE to spend. This whole thing is laughable.

I know for a fact that illegals receive subsidized housing, and have been for decades in SoCal. Maybe they use fake IDs, but nobody checks them. In fact, I knew a family trying to get subsidized housing for years. All the units were taken, and when they went to see some new govt housing, no one there spoke a word of English. The waiting list they were on, was supposedly for 3 years. After a couple years they checked back. They were still 3 years from their housing. They asked to see the list. Everyone in the office was bilingual and almost all the names on the list were hispanic.

Illegals use ER and certain govt clinics just like a doctors office - far more expensive. In SoCal, many clinics have had to shut down, and even a hospital in Duarte shut down, specifically because they could no longer afford to stay open due to all the illegals. This was also part of the problem in a L.A. hospital. Federal law mandates medical care for all at certain facilities, but does not pay enough to keep them running. CA pays more than other states to try and cover the difference.

I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; My budget was already substantial.

Again, I have heard this before, but it was a state run daycare center. All the field trips were saved until the end of the fiscal year, and then the children went almost every day. The money had to be spent or they would not receive the same amount next year. The director of this particular CDC daycare center explained it to me. And since then, I've heard this is true of many state and federal budgets. The more recent story was from a s/w engineer who worked at a local law enforcement agency. He said at the end of the fiscal year they started purchasing thousands of dollars of software so they would get the same amount of funding next year. He asked if he could choose some of the s/w, since they were picking almost blindfolded.

While some illegals get away with sliding around the law, the original post is fishy as hell. Illegals may pay taxes, but they don't get refunds. They pay into SS, but they can't collect. They are not eligible for any federal program, and very few state programs (their kids are another story; if they are registered in school, they are eligible for some services, including subsidized meals).

I think this argument can be made without going over the top and flat-out lying. Which the writer was. Which is why I doubt highly that this is a teacher writing. And the idea of there being $700K lying around with nothing to spend it on when schools are lacking textbooks, tutors, libraries, etc. is ridiculous. I have no doubt that administrators are ordered to spend every penny they receive, as is the case in all public facilities, but that figure just jumps out and says...laughable.

I'd LOVE to see $700K worth of computers. They cost about $300 each now in bulk. That's not a computer lab...that's a computer TOWN. Or city.

Illegals may pay taxes, but they don't get refunds. They pay into SS, but they can't collect.

That's not true. They even collect in Mexico! Remember they can purchase SSN and DL #s easily. And no one checks.

Soon it may be perfectly legal for illegals to receive SS benefits.

The point is, this is fraud. They are not entitled to the money, as the post claims. And frankly, I plan to have my SS benefits wired somewhere I can afford to live after I become eligible. I imagine a lot of SS money is sent to third world countries where one can actually not be reduced to eating dogfood.

Accurate Information about Pending Social Security Agreement with Mexico

Filed under: Your Democracy, Immigration, Hard Questions, Social Security — Legislative Staff at 4:22 pm on Friday, January 12, 2007

From the Social Security Administration:

UNITED STATES/MEXICO TOTALIZATION AGREEMENT

Since the late 1970’s, the U.S. has established international social security agreements that coordinate the U.S. Social Security program with the comparable programs of other countries.

These international social security agreements are called “totalization agreements” [ http://www.ssa.gov/international/totalization_agreements.html ] and have two main purposes:

Eliminate dual social security taxation that occurs when a worker from one country works in another country and is required to pay social security taxes to both countries on the same earnings. As a result of existing totalization agreements, U.S. workers and employers currently are saving about $800 million annually in foreign taxes they do not have to pay.

Help fill gaps in benefit protection for workers who have divided their careers between the U.S. and another country, but who have not worked long enough in one or both countries to qualify for social security benefits. With totalization, workers are allowed to combine work credits from both countries to become eligible for benefits. The benefit amount paid is proportional to the amount of credits earned in the paying country.

An agreement with Mexico:

An agreement with Mexico would save U.S. workers and their employers about $140 million in Mexican social security and health insurance taxes over the first 5 years of the agreement.

An agreement would also fill the gaps in benefit protection for U.S. workers who have worked in both countries, but not long enough in one or both countries to qualify for benefits.

Mexico is the second largest trading partner with the U.S. Agreements are already in effect with Canada, the largest trading partner with the U.S., and 19 other countries.

With Mexico, the U.S. now has signed agreements with eight of its top ten trading partners. Many of these agreements have been in effect for nearly two decades. The two exceptions are China and Taiwan. By law, the U.S. could not enter into agreements with these two countries because they do not have generally applicable social security systems that pay periodic benefits or the actuarial equivalent.

Costs of an agreement with Mexico

Social Security actuaries estimate that a totalization agreement with Mexico would have a negligible long-range effect on the Trust Funds.

Costs to the U.S. Social Security system are estimated to average about $105 million per year over the first five years. These costs are for additional benefits to eligible U.S. and Mexican workers and reduced Social Security tax contributions under the dual taxation exemption.

To put this in perspective, in 2002, costs to the U.S. system for the existing agreement with Canada were about $197 million.

Effective date of an agreement with Mexico

In the United States, once the agreement is signed, the President will submit the agreement to Congress where it must sit in review for 60 session days. If Congress takes no action during this time, the agreement can move forward.

In Mexico, once the agreement is signed, the Mexican Senate must approve it.

Countries already having totalization agreements with the U.S.

The United States currently has Social Security agreements with Canada, Chile, South Korea, Australia and most of Western Europe.

while on the subject of social security numbers....

".... Laws have been passed to exclude people without SSNs from almost every aspect of state ID, business, licensing, travel.... With a few traumatic events soldiers will be guarding access to public transportation. Soon this nation may face rationing of fuel and food and the minor exclusions now endured by non SSN holders, which are more numerous every day, may become life threatening.

JUSTAKID said: Those who receive the mark will do so knowing that by doing so, they invite the wrath of God upon themselves.

Gregory says: Actually the Bible talks a great deal about deception by the prophets of the Beast and deceiving whole nations. It doesn't realy talk about an informed decission. I do believe people will know more about the error of their ways as time goes on.

The Wrath of God is another interesting subject. Few people have any understanding of the word God even though it is well defined in Strong's. When it is coupled with wrath the confusion magnifies.

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. (Rev 13:15)

The word killed is not 'phoneuo' meaning 'to murder' but 'apokteino' meaning "to kill in any way whatever, to destroy, to allow to perish, to deprive". Those without a Social Security number will be deprived of ration stamps for food and gas during the upcoming "Global Disaster" as they are already deprived of jobs, credit, bank accounts, drivers licenses, electrical and gas hook up, court protection ......... the list goes on.

Now the "Global Disaster" that is coming [ Possible Terrorist Attack September 14th http://freedom4um.com/cgi-bin/readart.cgi?ArtNum=61148 ] and the Beast is preparing for is referred to in the Bible as the Wrath of God. It will create great problems for the people of the planet. But that is another story. ....."

So, if they stay here, they earn a greater amount since the pay scale is higher here, and THEIR MONEY COMES OUT OF US SOCIAL SECURITY FUNDS, or at least that is the way I read this.

You are conflating legal and illegal workers. Illegal workers with fake SS numbers get nothing. Unless the govt. fails to catch them. But it's a pretty simple thing to check numbers and names. If they use someone else's name, that person gets the money. If they have a different name, they get nothing. Stop freaking.

The point is, this is fraud. They are not entitled to the money, as the post claims.

I see your point. I guess because the fraud is so rampant, the average American just is no longer aware it is actually fraud. The state and federal govts are stopping it, so it may as well be legal.

Just yesterday at work someone told me AZ has a new law with two steps. The first step is to fine employers who have hired illegals. And this has been enforced in several places. The second step is, if they are found in violation of the immigration laws again, then they lose their business license to do business in AZ. But, no one has enforced the second step, and likely never will.

A lot of senior citizens are looking to move to safer 3rd (or 2nd or 1st) world countries to stretch their retirement money. A pharmacist who was having to explain all the new "Plan D" Medicare nonsense said about 20% of the people he spoke with are seriously considering it.
