COHOES -- Federal marshals arrested a city man who allegedly had a large gun stash in his house and extradited him to New Hampshire on Wednesday night.

Daniel Riley, 40, was taken into custody at about 2 p.m., said Frances Neeley, acting resident agent in charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which cooperated with the marshals in the raid.

More than a dozen agents from four agencies closed Younglove Avenue between Broadway and Chestnut Street for four hours as they searched Riley's house.

According to Neeley, Riley was arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge Randolph F. Treece and extradited to New Hampshire. The charges remained sealed late Wednesday night.

The Associated Press reported that Riley was one of four men arrested in four states on allegations of helping obstruct justice in the case of convicted tax evaders Ed and Elaine Brown of Plainfield, N.H.

Charges range from accessory after the fact to possession and use of a firearm in relation to a crime of violence, said U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier.

Officials believe that the men assisted the Browns in avoiding justice and conspired to impede federal agents.

Neeley said more information would be released today in U.S. District Court in Albany.

You notice they didn't say they found a large gun stash, all you saw was he allegedly had a large gun stash. If they found something they would have said. They were just pissed that he was helping the browns.
