Saw John Harwood (sr. politcal CNBC guy in DC) on Scarborough this morning. At the end of his interview, he asked Joe what he thought of Ron Paul. Joe said he thought that most people (in Congress) thought, he had been basically crazy for a long time. That he was too conservative, and was sort of 'out there on his own' on many positions. John said, (it's not on youtube yet), during the CNbC pub debate, their poll was taken down since they thought something was 'wrong' with it as Paul dominated the results. Turns out thousands upon thousands of people sent email to explain to CNBC, the results were not wrong, they were. Said, if 'anyone' messes with a Ron Paul report, they hear about it. That there was definitely something about the guy people like.

(wish I had the vid)

After Scarfaces' comments about Paul, apparently, MSNBC received a number of emails objecting to the negative characterization of Paul, and ol' Joe, had to address that on air. ROFL!

Naturally the MSNBC producer chose one of the more long winded emails to parse, and have read on air, it was not helpful, IMO. So, I mention this to say, maybe less is more. Keep it simple, because it is. The message of Peace is popular.

While trying to find the vid from this morning, I bumped into this. Never heard of the guy, but thought it was worth sharing anyway. Potential new chair of National Republican Party

Thompson, McCain, Romney, Guiliani...blah, blah, blah...he's got his marching orders. The RNC should change their party symbol from an elephant to a banana.

Now HERE'S an interesting item from today's press release from the Paul campaign...

In light of the information obtained from yesterday’s third-quarter filing with the Federal Election Commission, the Ron Paul 2008 Presidential Campaign will hold a press conference tomorrow to discuss the finances of Dr. Paul and the other three top-tier candidates.

Other THREE top tier candidates..? Hmmm...whoever do they mean? Thompson, Romney, Guiliani..?

Wonder if they mean pubs only?

Otherwise, a guess: Hillary, Obama, Rudy, and Paul. (Romney loans himself money and Happy Bunny says that smells like butt)

Usually RP is my first and Kucinch my second. This time it was the other way 'round.

Interesting. Mine was right on, except I am apparently at odds with Paul on Immigration. I'll have to go back and study his position more closely. It may be around the issue of deportation, where I believe he has the 'remove the birdfeeder' approach.

I believe it's part that, and part Ike's Operation Wetback approach.

I like Kucinich okay, but he's an elf and I'm human. I don't feel comfortable crossing that line and voting immortal yet.

ROFL! Well, so far as we know, he keeps his hands off of children. And you have to admit, that's getting to be more and more of a rare trait of morality in those sacred halls.

And, let's say, a whole batch of elves got elected, maybe we could get back to term limits, like one term no longer than 4 years. Serving 6 months of the year, and must have a source of income other than their congressional pay. No lifetime benefits, or special medical plan. If elves would embrace that, I'd vote for them. ;)

Well, there's the whole fairy gold monetary system of theirs (surprisingly similar to our federal reserve). Plus, special privileges for leprechauns, and I'm against that.

Still, you can't say they aren't tough on goblins.

True, true, true. Plus leprechauns got the gold. See, this just starts the cycle all over. War over Rainbows, Armies of cloud watchers, the weather channel would have Generals.

Forget it. SSDD.

I just grabbed this from RP's website.

He doesn't mention deportation, so I'm sure based on the question asked in the quiz, that is the point that stepped away from his plan.

I don't disagree with anything here though.

Border Security and Immigration Reform

http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/border-security-and-immigration-reform/

The talk must stop. We must secure our borders now. A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when our own front door is left unlocked. This is my six point plan:

Physically secure our borders and coastlines. We must do whatever it takes to control entry into our country before we undertake complicated immigration reform proposals.

Enforce visa rules. Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas.

No amnesty. Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That’s a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws.

No welfare for illegal aliens. Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules. But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services.

End birthright citizenship. As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong.

Pass true immigration reform. The current system is incoherent and unfair. But current reform proposals would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country, according to the Heritage Foundation. This is insanity. Legal immigrants from all countries should face the same rules and waiting periods.

The handbasket has landed.
