NEW YORK (CNN) — Democratic strategist and CNN analyst James Carville tossed out a provocative idea during a panel discussion on politics Tuesday. At CNN's America Votes 2008 Breakfast, the chief architect of Bill Clinton's successful 1992 presidential run predicted that former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will be the Republican nominee in 2008. Jeb is a younger brother of President Bush. Carville bolstered his prediction, highlighting Jeb Bush's career: He was a successful governor of a large state, he enjoys the support of social conservatives, he speaks Spanish, and "he's somebody the party could rally around," Carville said. "There is nobody in this field who can rally the Republican Party; he's the only person in America that can do it," he added. But fellow CNN analyst and former Oklahoma GOP Congressman J.C. Watts disagreed with Carville, saying, "The conventional wisdom caucus, the establishment of the Party, pardon my English, but they ain't going to allow that to happen." There has been high speculation that Jeb Bush might make a run at the White House in 2008, but then, late last year, he said he would not run. Former President George H.W. Bush suggested to CNN's Larry King last April that "Bush Fatigue" may be one of the reasons the former Florida governor is sitting out the 2008 race. But the former president predicted his youngest son may enter politics again in the future. "I hope that Jeb, who left office looking good, is not through with politics," the elder Bush said. " I think he's a good man, most other people think that, a man of principle. And I think he's got a future." Well, possibly in 2012 or 2016. This year, Jeb Bush will only be the nominee if the Republicans have a death wish. Hey, they do seem to have that.

Oh, please. If the USA continues to suffer under a drought for the next few years; I'd LOVE to be in Paraguay, which sits on top of a HUGE aquifer...I could get by without oil, but none of us can survive without water. Who wouldn't want to be where all the water is? :-)

And after Chelsea - to carry on the cuteness factor in US politics -it will be Jeb's eldest lawyer son, George P. Bush, who is fluent in Spanish, waiting in the wings to take a crack at the Oval Office. By the time George P's "turn" comes around, our nation will have adopted 2 official languages - if we're lucky English will be one of them - so it will be oh so appealing to the sheeple to elect a bi-lingual Prez.

J.C. Watts? Right about something? I'm getting the vapors. Both Mr. and Mrs. Carville have become almost totally irrelevant over the past 8 years. But that has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. I would LOVE to see Jebbie running; heck, it would be one of the most entertaining events in history. But it ain't gonna happen. Now a coup. That's a possibility.

Not 2008. More likely 2012 or 2016, after 8 years of another Clinton. Then America will be ready for Jeb. Give another 16 years (8 under some other Clinton) and America will be ready for Jorge P. Bush. And by that time, Jorge will be the typically old geezer, and will probably have mastered the predominant language, which by that time should be Spanish.

I believe that this was actually the plan all along - I kept hearing it mentioned a few years ago. then I guess w kinda screwed it up by being such a crappy president. that said, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that the current crop of candidates will burn out, or the public will burn out on them. I can imagine a plan where jeb rides in to save the party. and I hate to say it, but I can imagine a certain percentage of the population voting for him. look, I couldn't believe people voted for w in 2004 - the war was going badly and he'd been exposed as a liar, and they still voted for him. I don't know if carville's right, but I don't think he's crazy to say this.

I just saw the Bill Richardson thinks Illinois should drain Lake Michigan to provide for golf courses and 2-acre lawns in a desert. After living in Florida, with its undrinkable water, I have an interest in being where the water is. When you have to get a water cooler and use it for drinking and cooking, you start appreciating turning on the tap and taking a drink.
