Texas Gov. Rick Perry confirmed his support for Rudy Giuliani for president in an appearance in Washington and a telephone press conference with Texas reporters Wednesday morning.

Perry’s most pungent statement, though, might have been his renewed disavowal of interest in being a Republican vice presidential nominee. Though he didn’t say never-ever-ever, Perry repeated that he’s happy to remain governor.

“I have a really really good job. I love my job,” Perry said.

Referring to a recent move out of the Governor’s Mansion so the building can be overhauled, Perry continued: “I just had to move out of the mansion and I’m not looking for another move.”

Giuliani, asked to appraise Perry as a vice presidential possibility, was interrupted by Perry before he could answer. “I won’t consider that, let me just tell you,” Perry said.

Giuliani still said the Texas governor would be at the top of any Republican’s list of veep possibilities “no matter what happens.”

Perry said he settled on Giuliani as his choice for president after six months of careful study of the candidates and several face-to-face conversations with the former New York mayor. “The mayor knows how to lead, he knows how to get results and he knows how to win,” Perry said.

The key factor, Perry said, was Giuliani’s vow to appoint strict constructionist judges to the U.S. Supreme Court. Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton, Perry suggested, would make appointees likely to perform like “legislators with robes on.”

Asked to explain his choice of a candidate who favors gun restrictions, supports abortion and who has no objection to gay civil unions—all positions conflicting with Perry’s own — Perry conceded the disagreement on abortion, saying: “The fact of the matter is good people can disagree on this issue.”

He re-stressed his expectation that Giuliani would appoint conservative justices.

Calling himself a strong supporter of the right to bear arms, Perry said Giuliani would distinguish between restrictions that work in New York and the rest of the nation. Giuliani, answering another question, said he’s comfortable leaving gun restrictions within the bounds of the Second Amendment up to individual states.

“Amen,” Perry said.

Finally, Giuliani endorsed plans approved by Congress last year to build fencing along portions of the U.S.-Mexico border. Perry saluted him on that point, while adding that he finds the prospect of a wall all along the border “impossible.”

The pair said they were heading next to Iowa, site of the nation’s first presidential caucuses in January.

Perry said he’s looking forward to returning to Texas (where he’ll see if there’s political fallout of consequence).

'No Hair' Julie Annie and 'Good Hair' Perry are partners in crime on the Trans-Texas Corridor.

This ought to really help Rudy considering how popular Tricky Ricky is in Texas. < /sarcasm>

"Vows"????? ROTFLMAO.....uh, governor perry........exactly which 'vows' do you look at to determine whether this POS is capable of keeping vows? There are at least TWO huge ones he made but wouldn't/couldn't/didn't keep!!! And they were most sacred!

Could your selection be based on the idea that the POS's business is based in houston? And that he hobnobs with nations' leaders and people who didn't have a problem, as our gubmint noted, in attacking us?

Does all this make you a POS, too? At the very least, lay down with flea- bitten hounddog, you get up with (gasp) fleas!!

Holy bullhockey!!! I wouldn't want either of these buttheads near the Constitution. The current 'texican' in the WH thinks its a g*ddamned piece of paper, but these bastards couldn't even tell you it is a Constitution.

The states do NOT have a say in gun regulations--that is guaranteed by the FEDERAL constitution............and yeah, I know how they act, too........aren't supposed to, but they do. Two wrongs (actually, a hell of a lot more than two) don't make a right.

In addition, Bracewell & Giuliani successfully negotiated a $1.3 billion deal with TxDOT for Cintra-Zachry to build the remaining 40 miles of State Highway 130 as a toll road.

WND also has reported that Giuliani Capital Advisors was acquired in March by Macquarie, an Australian investment consortium which has also been involved in leasing and operating U.S. toll roads.

The FHWA website also discloses that Cintra and Macquarie partnered in the $3.85 billion 2006 deal to operate the Indiana Toll Road on a 75-year lease.

Just this month, independent journalist Diane Grassi first broke the story of Giuliani's involvement with the NAFTA Superhighway, writing that, "All negotiations for Cintra were and are presently handled by the law firm, Bracewell & Giuliani, LLP, of which Republican Presidential candidate, Rudolph Giuliani, has been a senior executive partner since March 2005. His law firm is the exclusive legal counsel for Cintra."

Foreign corporation in desperate lunge to quell massive popular dissent against Trans Texas Corridor & North American Union

Prison Planet | January 29, 2007 Paul Joseph Watson & Alex Jones

A foreign toll road corporation has agreed to buy dozens of newspapers in Texas and Oklahoma that have up until now been harsh critics of the Trans Texas Corridor superhighway, a clear example of racketeering and a desperate lunge to silence dissent against the sellout of American infrastructure and the North American Union.

"Australian toll road giant Macquarie agreed Wednesday to purchase forty local newspapers, primarily in Texas and Oklahoma, for $80 million. Macquarie Bank is Australia's largest capital raising firm and has invested billions in purchasing roads in the US, Canada and UK. Most recently the company joined with Cintra Concesiones of Spain in a controversial 75-year lease of the 157-mile Indiana Toll Road," reports The Newspaper.com .

Toll Road Giant Buys Newspapers to Silence Critics

Critics charge that the Macquarie purchase of American Consolidated Media is designed to silence critics of a Texas toll road project

The Newspaper | January 28, 2007

Australian toll road giant Macquarie agreed Wednesday to purchase forty local newspapers, primarily in Texas and Oklahoma, for $80 million. Macquarie Bank is Australia's largest capital raising firm and has invested billions in purchasing roads in the US, Canada and UK. Most recently the company joined with Cintra Concesiones of Spain in a controversial 75-year lease of the 157-mile Indiana Toll Road.

Sal Costello, the leading opponent of toll road projects as head of the Texas Toll Party, says the move is directly related to a 4000-mile toll road project known as the Trans-Texas Corridor. It will cost between $145 and $183 billion to construct the road, expected to be up to 1200 feet wide, requiring the acquisition of 9000 square miles of land in the areas through which it will pass.

"The newspapers are the main communication tool for many of the rural Texan communities, with many citizens at risk of losing their homes and farms through eminent domain," Costello wrote.

Many of the small papers purchased, most have a circulation of 5000 or less, have been critical of the Trans-Texas Corridor. An article in the Bonham Journal for example, states, "The toll roads will be under control of foreign investors, which more than frustrates Texans."
