The verdicts have to be arranged for the election, don't they:

Er: I think these have historically been described as show trials. And, in the past, they have been preceded by similar kinds of prisoner treatment. Kleiman notes that a politicized uniformed officer is the source. I'm not surprised either.

Show trials would be a step up in openess for this country now actually. The cases against these "terrorists" are so weak, flimsy, and "existential", that they can't be public. They can't even put on a show trial for these guys! Just say a trial of some sort was held somewhere- and announce convictions.

Stalin and Hitler didn't even have the balls to do that.
