My Grundig, big heavy expensive, was worn out so I was looking for a new short wave multi purpose travel radio.

I spent several hours on the net and decided on KAITO 1101, made in China, but made well, as far as I can Tell.

This seems to be a superb powerful radio in a very small package. You can charge the AA Ni Cd batteries without taking them out of the radio!, digital tuning, OK sound quality for a small unit and superior signal capturing ability.

Dang good device, for about $50. Recommended.

I knew some one was going to ask me a ?

Can do tv FM MW and upper SW.

Prolly not the best for a serious DX er, but we were looking for cheap unit to call in stations when we are in out of the way places.

I love listening to distant reports whilst in reports in remote canyons. (I learned "whilst" from the BBC)

You can put the thing in your pocket - Might weigh seven ounces. It is a winner.

If you are looking for a great radio, this one is dynamite. Digital, cheap, good sound, options you want.

I ordered a KAITO 1103 a couple of years ago from some place in Montana for less than $80.

It's got a few more features and more frequency range in the SW, I think. I'm happy with my purchase as well.

Thanks for the recommendations guys!!!

I've been wanting a good SW, and wasn't sure if Kaito's were a good choice (leery of Chinese products LOL)...

The folks at eham.net gave both radios glowing reviews.
