A few months ago, we had a lot of GARBAGE posts on the right sidebar. They were all FRIVOLOUS stories about Ron Paul. Up until today I liked him. But his supporters have come here to spam LP, and now I DON'T like HIM or THEM. I was reasonable in the past and asked that articles be posted here that were NEWSWORTHY ABOUT HIM, WITH A LIMIT OF 2 A DAY. Just this evening, there were 13 posted. THIRTEEN!!! And not ONE of them had anything newsworthy to report. All of them were of the variety: "Alert, Ron Paul just scratched his crotch!!" Or "Ron Paul stepped in dogs**t". The supporters of Ron Paul have PROVEN that they cannot control themselves. "Reasonable" is not a word in their vocabulary. So, due to their IRRESPONSIBLE and IRRATIONAL behavior, their SPAMMING of Liberty Post...I have made a decision: FROM THE TIME THIS IS POSTED...NO RON PAUL ARTICLES ARE TO BE POSTED HERE AT ALL. EVER. (ONE EXCEPTION: IF HE GETS ASSASSINATED OR SOMETHING SIMILAR AND IS 24/7 ON ALL NEWS CHANNELS. [Probability is less than zero on that.]) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Paulites: You did it to yourself. Not me. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Our bandwidth has gone from $240 to $365 for the past two months, and it has depleted our funds to negative zero. Which means I have to pony it up....and will need to run a fundraiser SOONER because of it. Face it folks, they stole it from YOU!! The contributors of LP!! I don't think those who contributed money to keep LP up and running meant for it to be used for some stupid unreasonble spammers to run amok on. So, just to be clear.... NO MORE ARTICLES ABOUT RON PAUL ARE PERMITED ON THIS WEBSITE. VIOLATORS WILL BE BANNED. NOT EVEN ONE NOT EVEN TWO ZERO!!! If this thread gets out of control...it goes to the Biker Bar or will be REPOSTED without the remarks, and the remarks will be removed. Note: For those who feel that they cannot stay on LP due to this decision: Sorry, but that's the way it is. Find or FUND someplace that is all Paul all the time. The abuse of LP ends today. I don't care who likes it or not. You've made your bed, now you get to sleep in it. This decision is NOT open for discussion. This is a "command decision" or what ever you choose to call it: Edict; directive; command, whatever. It is what it is. A RULE. And I don't care if you hate me or not.

She deleted the articles so she couldn't be called on it but the overwhelming number of articles about Ron Paul were anti-Paul articles posted by AuntB, Out damned Spot, DAnconia55 and Sardine Sandwich. It's her site and she can do what she wants but she should at least be honest about it.

I have to admit that a lot of Ron Paul articles are trivial and deal with minutia. I have no desire to see Ron Paul turned into an object of veneration like Bush is at Freakerland. He is a man. Yes- I am excited by his candidacy. Yes- I think he is right on most of the issues. But he is a man. One man. I don't need to know about every online poll. I don't need to know about his every appearence. General news forums shouldn't be clogged up with the daily doings of Ron Paul. Neither should they be clogged up with idiotic anti Paul posts and vanities (which is most of what is posted on LP by the way). I used to visit the Lew Rockwell blog several times a day- but 90 percent of what they blog about is Ron Paul now- non effing stop- nearly every post. Snoooooze. I visit less now. Look, Ron Paul is an exciting outside the Beltway candidate who is principled and refreshing. I am glad he is running. But frankly- our Mega DC government is way past the point where any one man can do much to reform it, reel it in, or even effect it that much. There is something a bit off- about a bunch of libertarians and old rightists who don't think the Presidency should have that much power- who constantly complain about how that branch has grown outside of all proportion- who bitch about people looking at the Presidency as some sort of Savior God King seat- cheering on a man night and day running for that seat- like any BOT or Demhead does for their two party fraud candidate.
That won't change. What you will see now is a proliferation of pro-Duncan Hunter articles by AuntB, odious (my name for Out Damned Spot. Goldi won't have a problem with that though. Goldi's so worried about bandwidth costs but she won't give byteshredder or moderate mammal warnings on their constant pictoral flame wars. It would be interesting to track the bandwidth use to see if it coincides with the appearance of byteshredder.

You've lost me, Burke. Paul is not running like any BOT or Demhead does. He's "running" (I put "running" in quotes, because he's not really running anything) the most incredible campaign of my lifetime. Incredible, because it perfectly embodies the principles of Libertarianism. What we are witnessing, is spontaneous order created by free men with free minds coming together, bringing their individual creativity and energies to bear like never before in the modern political arena, creaming the top-down, centrally-planned old-style campaigns of the would-be tyrants of the DemGOP Establishment party. That's EXACTLY what she is doing...LP was cluttered with silly Ron Paul posts all day, and it has been going on for a few weeks. Very few Paul articles were posted by supporters, but the arguing back and forth was making it look like there were more Paul threads than there actually were. She warned posters about Paul threads a few weeks ago; and that is exactly when this group of posters cited above started posting frivilous Paul threads. Any idiot could see that; but Sally chose it as an opportunity to ban Paul from her forum. She had an agenda, plain and simple.
Her attitude mirrors the GOP establishment's. Increased voters are welcome only when they vote for neocon fascists. LP, like the GOP, would rather die than live for peace and freedom. Unless Ron Paul is nominated, the GOP will have their deathwish granted. And LP's demise won't be far behind.

If Paul makes a speech, or say like last week an appearance and beats the FED chairman over the skull on live tv, I'd like to see it or read about it, but the vanity articles, or just general postings, I just skip. IF Paul would win, the military-intelligence/congress/corporation of DC is so out of control, so corrupt, is so manipulated and debased, and has decades of entrenchment all the way back to WW2, I don't see him turning it around. To fix "America" would cause incredible amount of pain across the spectrum of American life. The majority of citizens in this country couldn't withstand it. Americans that REALLY want individual freedom, independence, choice, responsibility is on the decline. My point is, I've read repetedly about bandwidth costs, then these "fundraisers" to help with these costs. People I trust, tell me, costs are very cheap, so to use this as an excuse, is just that, an excuse.

The crapola about how much it costs to run FR is another freaking lie..those fundraisers.. the bandwidth is not just from the posts that are posted but also from the views.. how many people who arent posting view your site.. the traffic.. is that ever mentioned by these people? I've yet to see one of them mention it.. Sites WANT traffic... so this entire matter is one lie heaped on another.. also I've read her say that posting images takes up LP bandwidth which is another lie.. the bandwidth for images come from the site of origin.. where the images are hosted ..that is where the bandwidth is used.

I will have to disagree. Someone as Ron Paul has ZERO chances as a GOP presidential candidate. He has 'larger than zero' chances as a non Demo-GOP. He COULD energize the 'independents', possibly some of the 50% that almost never vote and maybe even some tiny minorities of Demos and GOPs. That MIGHT give him the edge over Hillary and Rudy.

I am sorry but Hillary WILL beat Giuliani if the contest was just between the 2 of them. In fact, as much as I despise Hillary, I would probably see that it was my duty to go out and vote for Hillary if it was only Hillary and Giuliani in the run. Everything you say about Ron Paul above, I agree with except one man can and many 'one man' has proven how much effect and control they have over people, government, courts, economy, and the destruction of our Conxtitution and our civil liberties. I suspect Goldi's recent employment problems were noticed by the local GOP. They probably promised to "donate" a few thousand to the site to take the pressure off of her. Now we are seeing one of the strings that comes with the "donation".

No, Paul is pointing out daily that the GOP has been taken over by nasty forces. He has done this by lifting up the platform Bush ran on in 2000, no nation building, returning dignity and honor to the whitehouse. He has shown that everything THEY said, were packs of lies. Paul's record speaks to each of these pervertions brought upon the country, and further illustrates Democrats veiled objections to the machine rolling over all things Constitutional. If there is a difference between parties, show it. There is not. However, we are forced to deal with ingrained political thinking that a two party system exists, and it is not not likely easily changed in a cycle or two. I do watch Lou Dobbs from time to time, and reacently he has been reading emails from people who have changed their party ID to Independent, and can vote either way. This is good news to me. What is best is for people to realize what those parties actually stand for today, as you brilliantly defined. Then, take the next step to stand for a change.

Yes, and nothing he can do and say for the next few months is going to earn him the GOP nomination. The GOP is the party whose members continue to approve of Bush, of the Iraq war and of a future Iran invasion. 70% of them agree with all of the above. Ron Paul can NOT be nominated by these people so if he wishes to become the nominee of this party, he wishes to be defeated. What will today's RP supporters say, 3 or 4 months from now, when RP fails to win one single GOP primary and it is already too late for him to try an independent run?

Point taken, and I there's obviously a level of excitement about Ron Paul from freedom lovers that's unprecedented. Cult-like? Okay, I'll concede that. But in this case, it's warranted. And it's not about Ron Paul. It's about his candidacy. He mentioned on one of his interviews that it wasn't him that people were excited about, but his ideas of freedom. And given the state of the nation, the long train of presidents sold to special interests and being clueless about the Constitution and so many other things, I think we can permit ourselves a cult-like excitement over the possibility of a President Paul.

The cost to have a web server co-located in an internet facility runs into the low 3 digits. Since the server presumably hosts only LP, then yes, LP donors would be footing that whole bill. But I am a bit puzzled that LP costs would actually rise due to increased bandwidth usage. I'm not familiar with their ISP of course, but 4um is the heaviest website on this server (by far), and we're no where near exceeding existing limits. I'm sure LP gets more postings than 4um, but if they are breaking bandwidth limits, then they are either getting visits very much out of proportion to their postings or they don't have the best deal in hosting. I suspect the latter. That's another thing though. What makes her think that Ron Paul is the reason for her increased bandwidth? LP doesn't have view counts on threads like we do here, and it would not be easy to tell what subject on LP is generating any spike in traffic.

Okay, where's the math on that? Here's the math: 70% of the Independents (THAT'S WHY HE NEEDS TO RUN AS AN INDEPENDENT), 10-15% of the GOPs and Demos. That should add up to more than 35% which, in a 3-way race, wins the race if the remainder is evenly distributed between the other 2 and within the states. RP may be able to get more than 70% of the Indies and I expect him to get more than 15% of the GOPs because the pro-lifers will have nowhere else to go and more than 15% of the Demos because the anti-wars won't have anywhere else to go if they had Rudy and Hillary as their parties candidates.

He is my congressman and a person I feel will do a great job at putting this country back on track. Like it or not, people like brand names like Republican and Democrat, even if they don't mean anything. Ron Paul realized that to get elected to Congress, he had to run as "R" rather than Libertarian, whether he liked it or not. Another example: remember that Pat Buchanan won some primaries when he ran in 1992 and 1996 as a Republican, and wound up with 0.4% of the vote when he ran 3d party. I hate the GOP as much as anyone, but I also realize that the only way for a candidate with a good message to break through is within the two party system. I'll cringe when I do it, but I'll register GOP in this election just like I did in 1992/6.
In 2008 the 2 'candidates' presented by the Demos and the GOPs are going to be so similar, it would be very difficult to brainwash the masses again into believing that they are making a meaningful choice by voting for one of the 2. Again, RP has ZERO chances of being nominated by the party of Bush, Giuliani and Podhoretz. This is the way it is and him raising one trillion dollars would not change it. However, as in independent (NOT THIRD PARTY) he might beat the monster and the robot (guess who's who :)) ). By the way, if he DOES win the presidency, I expect him to be assassinated - a great pretext for imposing a full police state - or to get very sick very quickly and die, which would be good for Goldie's site because she will be able to allow one last RP article to be posted there.

Well even if that's true, the defunct plurality election system only allows one vote per voter in the R primaries, and there are some 8 candidates. So if Ron gets the 30% of R's that have had it with the war and the other seven split the remaining 70% (10% each), then Ron wins the R nomination.

Once the primaries begin he will be getting near-zero coverage no matter what. As you might have noticed, all primaries coverage is about horse races, not ideas and only the first 2 or 3 top 'vote getters' are covered. As an independent? He'd be in worse shape than the L party--IIRC, they, at least, are recognized by some states as a legit party based on prior voting stats. Ron, to get on the ballot in every state, would have hurdles such as not seen before. Candidates today are raising $80 - $100 million........hell, Ron would need that to face the hurdles each state's demon and repuk party try to raise to 'legit' keep him off the ballot. Find the stories about Perot and what it took in NY alone! And not just 'legal' fees; he was having to pay people to collect signatures in fast time. This 'independent' stuff is just another hurdle being tossed out there for Ron Paul to have to jump over. Next hurdle will be 'well, they could just write his name in'.......sure they can......as soon as he is able to make contact with all voters.....because they sure as hell won't see him on tv.......and with all the campaign funds going to legal fees and other such crap, there won't be big bucks to advertise his face, whether pretty, ugly, or in between, that would make his name known or remembered by anyone. I do not support RP running as a GOP. There is little or no association between the GOP and ideals that are dear to me such as freedom, individualism, intelligence. If RP's goal is to 'heal' his party, then fine, let him try but then he's not running for US prez. I can tell you a little bit about the apathetic voter. First and foremost, you have to be able to reach out to them, to talk to them. Their names aren't on the polling records kept by the counties and given to campaigns (for a fee). It would take cross referencing with phone directories--and how do you get those cell-phone folks. When I ran for office, one of the most disheartening things I encountered was the apathetic voter. Going door to door and meeting folks who l) didn't even know an election was coming up or 2) wouldn't bother to register or vote because 'they're all crooked'. Trying to break through the latter one is the hardest to accomplish. You can't just walk up and say, hi, here's my brochure and leave---these people need the one on on contact to talk through, to be convinced there is a difference. My heart wasn't in it; and there was only a handful of those that I bothered to make contact with again. And so, if Ron has tons and tons of local volunteers, these folks have to be prepared especially for this type of confrontation--it knocks the wind out of ones' sail, so to speak.

I have friends here who raised them.......and tried the EMU oil routine.....the wife even used the pretty egg shells for crafting--to no avail. She has since died; I don't know about the birds. One of them broads caused them to lose about 2 weeks worth of work and untold fortune in gas, and a set of tires and a wrecked trailer trying to catch up to here.......everyone up in the valley where they lived were calling them that they sighted the buffalo here, no there, then over there, back down yonder, etc., etc., etc. They had one little place where they had a concrete bunker..........that was changed to where they made a concrete retaining wall on that whole area. I just laughed my butt off--at least with the angoras, they caught their damned heads in the fence and I didn't have to go all over the valley trying to catch up to them little bastards!!!

There will be time. I'm not sure of the details but Anderson withdrew from the R's and ran independent in 1980. Paul has enough grass roots power to convert over in short order, especially since 95% of his followers know already it may come to his runnnig independent.

Like I said, there is no viable scenario for RP to win the GOP nomination. I recently exchange some views with someone who published an article at the LewRockwell site, stating that RP just MIGHT get nominated by the GOP. I believe that she was actually a math PhD. Her premise was that 80-100% of all RP's GOP supporters would actually vote in the primaries while everyone else's supporters would participate at a 2-5% rate. She did admit to me that her assumption was not very realistic. She wrote: "the wildcard is how motivated Paul supporters are to vote, which is where my analysis may fall apart. " Someone else who contributes to that site, to Antiwar and others and who recently wrote an article predicting RP's eventual victory, wrote me the following: "I deliberately try to be optimistic and depict it as a final matchup view to try and drum some sense into these Republicans' heads about who should be their man." He then continued - and PAY ATTENTION BECAUSE HE IS TALKING ABOUT YOUR KIND HERE: "What is likely to happen, however, if he starts to be a threat, is that his supporters will be infiltrated by the statists with some violent people who will do something uncouth and the media will blame it on him, end of story." Let's hope that you a right and RP, somehow, finds the guts to run as an independent and that his staying for too long with the GOPs will not significantly diminish his appeal to his natural base, which is the non-aligned citizens. I still believe that the proper time for him to leave the GOPs is right before the primaries. Near where I lived in Maryland was a small ranch that had buffalo, or what looked like them. They were fenced in with a normal post rail fence, maybe with barbed wire addition. Thought many times of stopping to get a good close up look.

I have seen such 'fencing', too..........but having had cattle and traditional 5-strand barbed wire fencing that they took occasion to get thru, and generally in the nighttime hours, or late evening, I suggest that only fools have such fencing for buffalo....unless, of course, they enjoy 'cowboying' at ll:30 pm, or 2:am after neighbors bitch that their yard has been innundated, or that their cattle herd has been infiltrated by a bunch of pissed off or unhappy buffalo. :)

What she says is that it is 'possible' that the intensity of RP's GOP supporters is so great that they would come to vote in primaries en masse while everybody else's supporters are going to be demoralized and apathetic. This is a lot of wishful thinking. I believe that Buchanan got away with something like this ONCE and Dean couldn't win even one of his party's contests even though his supporters were quite enthusiastic.

Someone just posted an ancient thread by Goldi in which she's bitching about TOS-1 pulling a thread of hers concerning a Bildeberg meeting. My, my how times change.
So she's bitching that her site is becoming more popular eh? Well with her latest action, I think she's sort of guaranteed not to have to worry about that for much longer. If she truly wanted to eliminate a huge amount of senseless spam, she'd immediately ban ByteShredder and sardine sandwich. Since she gives each of those trolls free reign over her forum and allows them to harrass and intimidate other posters on her forum whenever they wish, we can see that she has no concern about bandwidth or rules.
