Right now, Goldi has issues coming to grips with being riffed. For some people, that can take years. An old friend of mine was fired from a job he really liked and it took him six years to get over it.

In the interim, he displayed many of the characteristics that Goldi is showing now. Lashing out at people, finding bogeymen under the bed, blaming others for your own misfortune, etc.

When I was riffed, it took a few months to deal with it, mostly because I'd been "there" for more than a decade. Finally, I realized I was working for morons and that I'd never have to deal with them again....and that I'd have to find a new set of morons to go work for.

Goldi needs to get "there" and will continue to have periodic temper tantrums until then just due to the stress of having been Cast Out.

So, she'll be erratic for a while until she can sing "Life's a bunch of shit, when you look at it..." and do it with a smile.

You know about a layoff a long time before it actually comes to pass.

That increases your stress level and you become a raging asshole until the day of the layoff. Then you get your package and its a relief.

For a while.

Then reality hits you. You may think you're prepared for it, but you aren't. Then you become a raging asshole once again.
