A 20-year-old man died this morning after a sheriff's deputy used a taser on him to break up a fight, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office reports.
The man was identified as Jarrel Gray of Ladd Circle by his mother, Tanya Thomas, who spoke to a News-Post reporter.
A fight was reported in the 7000 block of Gresham Court East, near Crestwood Boulevard in Frederick, about 4:54 a.m., according to Cpl. Jennifer Bailey of the sheriff's office.
The first deputy on the scene found four people fighting outside and deployed a taser, striking Gray, Bailey said. He fell on the ground unconscious and was given first aid on the scene, then taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The Frederick Police Department is assisting the Sheriff's Office with the investigation, Bailey said.
The deputy, whose name was not released, has been placed on administrative leave with pay.

Taser-freaks outta control. Why not let the punks continue to duke it out? Save all that paperwork, and a life.
What say every time someone dies, the whole dept gets tasered.
Couldn't hurt? Could it? Nice idea.
The police cannot do that. This reminds me of something that happened near my hometown, about 20 years ago. Some fool, whose name was similiar to the fools in this article, ran from the police when they came to his house to arrest him for traffic warrants. He tried to go over a fence, they grabbed him, who knows what happened, but he ended losing an eye because of a nightstick. Maybe if they had Tazered him he might have died. Hmmm...

In layman's terms; 'paid vacation'. Sweet.
USA Today had an article last month. It appears police officers in the US are being subjected to increasing amounts of violence, including execution style murders. Nobody seems to know or understand why. The solution it seems is to increase police armor and weoponry.
