My thoughts are that we cannot sit back and let someone else do it. Either we have concern for this country and our freedom or we do not.

Paul needs all the help he can muster. Like the Founding Fathers he needs good people to answer the call.

It might be a good idea to surf around to see what type of political ads work in NH. What do they like to see? What do they want to hear? Tired of negative ads? Tired of the 'status quo'? Short and sweet, with a link to info....or a Smack Down on a single topic. What are they most interested in?

Can it be translated into a bumper sticker? (sorry)

Can the NH MUG's be engaged to help?

Ron Paul 2008 email, just in.

During the first few days of October, we announced our fundraising goal for the fourth quarter: $12 million raised by December 31.

But there's more: we need to have spent it by then, too.

If we were to raise the entire $12 million in the last week of December, we would meet our fundraising goal for the quarter. But Ron Paul would stand little chance of winning the Republican nomination, because that money would have come in too late.

Time is of the essence. You see, we need to raise money well before we plan to spend it. That's because most of the expenditures that we make need to be paid for weeks in advance. For example, we need to buy crucial airtime for the end of December right now.

The sooner we raise this money, the sooner that we can spread Dr. Paul's message - our message - in the early primary states. Time truly is money.

Fact is, we only have about two weeks to raise money for the early primaries.

If you wait a month from now to donate, your money will only be spent after Iowa caucus-goers and New Hampshire primary voters have made up their minds.

We are rapidly running out of time. The Iowa caucus is just 44 days away. New Hampshire is in 49 days. With so much ground to make up, we can't afford to waste a single day.

As a result, we are spending faster than the rate at which we are raising money. In October alone, we raised $2.8 million, but our campaign spent over $3.1 million.

We cannot afford to wait for bursts of press activity. What we need is sustained attention in the news. What better way to do this than by continuing to raise money at a rapid pace now? We need to keep our momentum going.

Help us win in New Hampshire, Iowa, South Carolina, and Nevada.

Make your most generous contribution as soon as you can: https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate.

All modesty aside I am not a bad copy writer, and have done paste-up and lay-out for a few ad pieces.

"THESE are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated. ..."

Most people are impulse donaters. Something has to TRIGGER that urge to give and whining emails do not serve that purpose.

Your donors will RESIST giving if you cry wolf, it wont work. The slicks around Paul will just have to manage, the little people are not cash cows that curry favor from the other candidates.

Good points. All true.

Though there is one important take away from his email. The clock is ticking and there are only 44 days left till the Iowa Caucus. The TEA PARTY is just over 3 weeks out. I don't like to be squeezed either.

There is an extension of your thinking in that Paul MUST have a good showing on Dec 16. Another blockbuster day,may not pay the bills now but it is worth a fortune in FREE advertising afterwards.

In other words I would trade short comings now for long term gain on the 16th.

You are right on each count. But if I may counter by suggesting, we can not ride the 11/5 success for 3 weeks. The only thing that comes to mind, is to see if the MuG's could coordinate a 'signage' date all over the country.

Knowing what newspaper this is for will determine a lot. If one were to aim for the small freebie classifieds, like those found in mini-marts by the door, you might get more bang for the buck plus more coverage to the 'lil people' who read the small classifieds ~ instead of one big ad in one newspaper, you could have one medium ad in a 1/2 dozen papers, across the state.

~ am on a quick lunch break in the middle of a marathon week, but will watch this thread and am willing to pitch in ~ the idea is worth pursuing *s

Was looking around for a specific quote. I still haven't found it, but collected these gems to share.

Eugene Debs, quotes about Duty:
They have always taught and trained you to believe it to be your patriotic duty to go to war and to have yourselves slaughtered at their command. But in all the history of the world you, the people, have never had a voice in declaring war, and strange as it certainly appears, no war by any nation in any age has ever been declared by the people.

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, quotes about Duty:
Our duty, as men and women is to proceed as if limits to our ability did not exist. We are collaborators in creation.

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, quotes about Duty:
Our duty, as men and women is to proceed as if limits to our ability did not exist. We are collaborators in creation.

Robert G. Ingersoll, quotes about Duty:
The man who does not do his own thinking is a slave, and is a traitor to himself and his fellow men.

Andrew Jackson, quotes about Duty:
The brave man inattentive to his duty, is worth little more to his country than the coward who deserts her in the hour of danger.

Very true.

Paul or his slicks must make the decision, take some money now or hope for a big payday on the 16th.

A failure on the 16th would be trumpeted from coast to coast by the media. that is what happens when one sets time limits and donation goals. Overall Paul has come up roses depending on the little guy, and if I were him, I would continue.

Obama Take The Lead In Iowa

Tuesday, 20 November 2007

A growing focus on fresh ideas coupled with lingering doubts about Hillary Clinton's honesty and forthrightness are keeping the Democratic presidential contest close in Iowa, with Barack Obama in particular mounting a strong race against the national front-runner.

Most Democratic likely voters in Iowa, 55 percent, say they're more interested in a "new direction and new ideas" than in strength and experience, compared with 49 percent in July -- a help to Obama, who holds a substantial lead among "new direction" voters. Read More

Obamer was created by the elite via the media to make it appear as if there was some kind of a contest for the democrat ticket.

All smoke and mirrors. When the time comes, Obamer will be sent to the back of the bus.

My 2 cents .. is a group project but here is my input

Not too word.. simple is better.. the Ron Paul Revolution should be on it in some way.. b/c that is the campaign slogan.. also a LARGE photo of Paul would be good IMO

Artistically, that would serve to define the negative space around him.

Zip,

Lets put it all on the table and assemble the most powerful aspects.

I remember a picture, posted months ago, that was very powerful. Liberty is Calling, I think it was called.

It was a Sillouette of men, on a hill, backed by blue lighting. They were sillouetes of soldiers from different wars.

It might be nice to see it again, to determine what strenghth we can draw from it.

2012? Do you remember this. I see you post many images, and are betting you can identify, and perhaps help find it to post here.

Zip. Speaking for myself, I am humbled, shamed and inspired, by the images that have been buried from our eyes and hearts. Those things that helped define what was good, who many of us think we are supposed to be.

To get down to the brass tacks, we may never see another candidate, so grounded, as we have in Ron Paul. It would be a shame, to skip lightly, over a last chance.

My 0.02 cents worth is try to minimize the anti-war aspect. You know Paul is against it as it stands and the subset of Paul followers who are against it don't need the message. In the instance of the anti-war message the concept also has the negative aspect of providing it's own counter-arguement, i.e. opponents and the media tend to be able to make hay on him with this subject so focusing on his strict constructionist leanings avoids providing fodder for his detractors.

You're selling Paul and what he stands for so you want to cast the net outside of the subset of the core followers. The core is pretty tight here, most everyone on the forum, and I assume among Paul supporters in general, aren't the types who are gonna need a squalling, fear-or-promises, TV ad in their face every hour 3 days before election day to remind them who to vote for.

There will be a couple of demographics that are going to be fertile ground in target areas. Off the top of my head, I'd figure New Hampshire to have say, a good chunk of young single professionals and the same but married and just starting a family.

What about Paul and the Constitution appeals to these people? Not beating down their door over a bag of weed? Not watching their nascent savings and wealth evaporate under the onslaught of FED play money? Not having their children co-opted from under them in Federally managed school programs? Not being taxed to death? etc...

I'll try to follow up with a few ideas, it's a "school day" tomorrow :-) and I've got to crash...

It is not without travails to exist solely within the 520-565nm band of the visible spectrum...

My 2 cents .. is a group project but here is my input

Not too word.. simple is better.. the Ron Paul Revolution should be on it in some way.. b/c that is the campaign slogan.. also a LARGE photo of Paul would be good IMO

Ideally you want to reach new public OR enegergize existing public to get out and vote.

Working on the assumption you want to reach new public then you want to survey the target public and identify what is important to them i.e., which of Ron Paul's positions have the greatest common ground which equals greater reach. I think "FOH" had the idea right here - based on the Survey Alex Jones commissioned from Zogby.

#2. To: TwentyTwelve (#0)

Monday, November 19, 2007

A new nationwide Zogby telephone poll reveals that a sizeable majority of Americans are looking to vote for a candidate who protects liberty, wants to shrink government and immediately withdraw troops from Iraq - all traits common to Texas Congressman Ron Paul.

There's your billboard...

Dr. Ron Paul -

*Pro-Liberty

*Much smaller government

*Bring the troops home

One could work with adding just a little but you want to keep it simple, direct, and to hit the known "buttons".

Dr. Ron Paul -

*Pro-Liberty - Will Defend the Constitution

*Much smaller government - Get Washington back Under Control

*Bring the troops home - Alive

VOTE FOR RON PAUL (You don't ask you state what is desired.)

If you have a phototgenic candidate, as Dr. Paul is, then yes a Photo is a plus because it adds to the reality faction i.e., puts a face with the positions.

"How many surrealists does it take to screw in a light bulb? One to hold the giraffe and one to fill the bathtub with brightly colored power tools." - Unk.

Why did you leave the Grange?

Long story. Too much pain. Sadly at the same time I was not backed up by my friends. I went through a spell where it was coming at me from all directions. I felt alone and abonded by everyone. When you are ready to be upfront with me you let me know, otherwise stay the hell away from me because I am not emotionally able to handle more pain right now.

Most Americans still believe in the two party system.

It has been a one party charade by and for the elite for a very long time.

I can put some time on it this morning (I'm in PST).

I have a few ideas. I'll post a couple of images for brainstorming here in a minute once I load them up onto an image host.

It is on the eastbound side of I-70 at the 40.5 mile marker.

That is about 1/2 way between Terre Haute, Indiana and Indianapolis.

I don't know how much creativity I could add to the mix, but do send me a ping when you're collecting funds. Is this a newspaper ad or a billboard?

I was thinking that an add that demonstrates RP is closer to the Republican platform than the others would be good. He's said he won't run third party and he needs Republican support. IMHO, highlighting his conservative record, proving he's the only conservative on the ballot would be a good spin. We need the Republican backing now, afer we get that we can go after the Dems. And I've got a copy of a great ad this guy ran in our local paper putting RP's record on many issues up against Hillary and Obama.

But alas, we have to get the Reps now. Family values, no divorces, no lobby work, no taxes, no all Constitution all the time.

you might get more bang for the buck plus more coverage to the 'lil people' who read the small classifieds

I know people who make great livings by advertising their services in those itty bitty free paper classifieds instead of the larger ads.

More people read through those little ads looking for bargains, than read the big ads.

I am going to put your GREAT idea to work here in my little town. And I am going to spread it around to all the meetups of which I am a member. (I joined all of the largest in the country so I can spam them with great ideas. :p )

Sorry I'm tardy - I've been sick and working a lot.

These are two of my favorite images.

I like the idea of a "Spirit of '76" motif. It is iconic and cuts across boundaries.

For most people I think ending the IRS is simply beyond their level of reality, but ending the war and promoting the spirit of liberty are not.

I like things simple that communicate.

One tag line I thought up, which I like, seems to meet the criteria.

"The Spirit of '76 Lives!"

"In The Spirit of Liberty - Ron Paul For President"

Rev Battle Line:

"The Spirit of '76 Lives!"

"In The Spirit of Liberty - Ron Paul For President"

Spirit of '76:

"The Spirit of '76 Lives!"

"In The Spirit of Liberty - Ron Paul For President"

"How many surrealists does it take to screw in a light bulb? One to hold the giraffe and one to fill the bathtub with brightly colored power tools." - Unk.

Do you want Hillary Clinton
as your next president?

Neither do we!

On (date here) help us nominate the Republican presidential candidate which polls show to be the only one who can beat Hillary Clinton in a general election.

Help us nominate Congressman Ron Paul!

Paid for by the members of www.Freedom4um.Com. Not affiliated with the Ron Paul campaign. For more information about Ron Paul, visit his website at www.ronpaul2008.com.

Ron Paul has:

  • Voted against the war in Iraq.
  • Never voted for a congressional payraise.
  • Never voted for a tax increase.
  • Never voted for an unbalanced budget.
  • Voted against the Patriot Acts.
  • Voted against the Real ID Act.
Ron Paul will:
  • Bring the troops home immediately.
  • Work to end the income tax.
  • Work to abolish the federal reserve.
  • Stop illegal immigration.
  • Safeguard the 2nd Amendment
  • Restore the Bill of Rights.
  • Rescind power grabbing presidential executive orders.

Here's my contribution to the idea. With a little tweaking, I think it might be good.

Thanks!

I figure we can't get too fancy in the average newspaper. It's not like they are running an 8 color press on premium glossy stock. Simple, black and white, to the point.

Some rewording may be necessary or some talking points replaced with others, but I think something like this is the best way to go.

the size of the ad we're looking at is 4x6 so we will need to keep it short and simple. i like the hillary reference very much. the text on the side may not be necessary?

OI, the graphics you chose are very nice and meaningful to us, but i think the ad should include a photo of Ron Paul for those readers who may not know of him.

Not bad - better than my feeble efforts. You have better layout tools too. Given Hitlery's high negatives even among the Dem's makes the case as to how stark the choice is. I still like my "tag line" though - tweaking it: "In The Spirit of Liberty - Ron Paul '08". My reasoning being that one of the high positives of Ron Paul is his adherence to the Constitution and Jeffersonian principles. That is a connection that seems to run consistently through his appeal. Perhaps across the the bottom 2 font sizes up from the basic text.

I would bring the the votes against the Patriot Act and the Real ID closer to the top - just under the opposition to the war. My reasoning being that we want to establish a connection with people who are not yet Ron Paul Voters.

In the same vein I would suggest bringing the Bill of Rights up to the number 2 slot under Bring home the troops immediately. Also as a suggestion would be to add a little to it i.e., "Honor the Consitution and Restore the Bill of Rights". That of course connects with the "In The Spirit of Liberty" tag line.

I am old and my eyes don't like small print.

So I have my browser displaying 4um in pretty large text. My layout was done with html and the large text and everything looked great, nice and even and lined up perfectly.

So just now, I was fiddling with my browser text size, and when I looked at it then, it looked awful.

So are you folks all blind like me using large text or were you just being kind? lmfao!

Well A combo of your and Wudidiz's thoughts would be workable. By dropping the picture down to the size Wudidiz used and, if your software allows you do do it, putting the Hitlery message in a single banner across the top, and then condensing the points down to just the key one's, as per the survey thread, then it can be done.

We may have to do some pruning.

Certainly the anti-war, and pro-Bill of Rights should stay. While eliminating the FED is important to those of us already aware of the bigger issues moving the current scene to someone not up on it abolishing the FED, even if they know what it is, is an issue who's significance would, from simple lack of knowledge, elude them.

Condensing it down to a list like Wudidiz's would work within the size limitations.

RE: The ad

imo, the most effective ads/ movements don't begin with a negative. hillery is a negative.

Something like:

"Who do you want for our next president?"

"On January 8th, let us nominate the man who can restore our country to truth, principle and freedom."

is better.

My personal feeling is that people don't read newspaper ads unless something grabs their attention. I think the Hillary reference does that. Once we have their attention, she is never mentioned again, only positives about RP.

However, I am not an expert.

Critter,

About the "calling the campaign" suggestion, is the national campaign really equiped to handle lots of incoming calls at that number? And, might the number for the Ron Paul Headquarters in New Hampshire be better, since that is probably where the actual on the ground campaign organizing in NH is taking place?

On January 8th, 2008, help us nominate
the only Republican candidate who can
beat her, according to the polls.

Help us nominate Ron Paul!

Personally, I think this part is too busy. Perhaps simplify/streamline it?

Maybe delete 'according to the polls'? (not really necessary?)

Also, 'nominate' shouldn't be used twice in two sentences, imho.

Using two colors, say, red and blue on the white background could improve it's appeal?

I dunno, I might be wrong, but those are my thoughts.

Otherwise, it still looks great!

The Hillary reference is genius. RP will take up residence in the average GOP Partybot's head with that hook. It's the only true thing about Paul that could possibly persuade a hidebound Republican party hack to do the right thing.

November 28, 2007 Paul: 'Washington did not change me' (CNN) - Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) prefaced his answer to a question about cutting federal spending by responding to a previous statement by Sen. John McCain (R-AZ,) that in 1994, Republicans took control of Congress to change Washington, but instead Washington changed Republicans and spending got "out of control."

Paul said, "The statement earlier made that we all went to Washington to change Washington, Washington changed us. I don't think that applies to me. Washington did not change me. I would have liked to have changed Washington."

Paul eventually answered a question from Emily in Los Angeles who asked specifically which federal programs the candidates would cut in order to reduce spending.

"By cutting three programs such as the Department of Education, Ronald Reagan used to talk about that, Department of Energy. Department of Homeland Security is the biggest bureaucracy we ever had," Paul said.

Wonder if we say, Let's help Ron Paul change Washington.

Maybe delete 'according to the polls'? (not really necessary?)

Also, 'nominate' shouldn't be used twice in two sentences, imho.

I disagree.

"According to the polls" provides a foundation for and strengthens the claim.

As for the parallel sentence structure of "Help us nominate", that makes emphatic that RP and the "only candidate who can defeat her, according to the polls" are, indeed, one and the same. So, I don't mind it.

I also think the Freedom4um part stood out more when it was the only unbolded text. Maybe bolding Freedom4um.com only would be better (if you want it bolded).

Finally, there is a capital "C" in the second "Freedom4um.Com".

Check out my blog, America, the Bushieful.

We're dealing in black and white newsprint, right? I was operating under that assumption. I think color costs more.

I could asterisk the claim, and put "*according to polls blah blah blah" at the bottom somewhere.

Not bad at all, and I'll pony up.

But why does it have to start off like every other Republican ad? I get phone calls all the time from groups and candidates asking "Do you want Hillary to be president?" Of course the answer is no, but I always tell them that I think it's more important decide what you are for, and that any money I have is going to Paul, not them.

I do understand it has to be acceptable to the paper, too. But I'm wondering how effective that opening really is anymore with the Republican base. Paul is not just another Republican, and for me the headline detracts from that.

I think the Republican base is scared to death of Hillary. People like us who already know and believe in Ron Paul don't need to be sold. We have to sell it to the base. Since not many of us are part of the Republican "base", our opinion really doesn't matter, does it? What we have to do is figure out how to turn the opinion of those who do matter.

I guess what I am saying is that we have to figure out the best way to reach the people who don't already believe in Ron Paul.

Maybe the RNC knows that it works, so that is why they use it? I have to assume that they spent about half a billion dollars studying what works. lol

And we are competing against them for the same potential voter.

It's like when I was trying to decide on a design for my window stickers and yard signs for my alarm business. I looked at the design of the nation's largest company, ADT, and said to myself, "Well if they can go with one color, blue, on a white background, why should I do anything fancier?" I should think they studied the issue long and hard before they settled for their design.

It boils down to this other than Ron Paul we will have most likely Hillary.

To my mind with her comes this country's demise, a dictatorship if you will. Bush has set everything in place for her coronation.

For those that are enamored with their own station in life and cannot see beyond their bankbook, there is a huge surprise awaiting you.

I guess what I am saying is that we have to figure out the best way to reach the people who don't already believe in Ron Paul.

I like the ad but there's a part of me that worries - like Tauzero and a few others do - that using the fear tactic against Hillary alone is not the full picture.

And are we certain that there are "numerous" polls that show RP beating Hillary?

The other "enemies" of America are the RINO's and NEOCONs.

Also the reference to the income tax thingie worries me in the sense that it's not a realistic goal for a Prez to accomplish or even set in motion. Ron Paul would not increase income taxes - that's for sure and that's what people would like to hear - but doing away with the IRS is a stretch - it almost makes him sound pie in the sky frivolous.

a. I think we could keep the are you scared of President Hillary in. But if we could also incorporate the fear of being betrayed by yet another RINO Neocon candidate that would speak to both concerns of GOP delegates...maybe in the text that follows in smaller print:

Or another RINO in the Oval Office?

then "Do those images scare you"

b. Also in the paragraph that follows, I'd say "We are asking you to vote for the only candidate who can beat Hillary Clinton in a general election and who will put America First and who will stay true to the Constitution.

c. On the left side of RP's photo I'd delete the income tax abolishment phrase and replace it with "Work to downsize government agencies" or something to that effect.

d. Also on the right side of his photo, I'd delete "never voted for an unbalanced budget" - kind of redundent to the other stuff you have about taxes.

Instead I'd put in "Is not beholden to any special interest lobby groups"

Maybe the RNC knows that it works, so that is why they use it?

Along those lines, I would be much less specific about what Paul will do. The more specific you are, the more you give people reason to not support him. Just give them the URL and 800 number.

Eliminate the negative (the things I listed. Can't be a long list.) Accentuate the positive. And the positive is Paul himself.

I'm a small-f fascist myself, so I know I'm right on this.

I'd also delete "secure our borders" - repetitive to stop illegal immigration and instead include "stop foreign aid and use it to help America instead".

Also I think Tauzero's idea about "putting a doctor in the White House" is good if it can be incorporated into the text - folks are tired of lawyers getting into the WH. Also mentioning that RP is a Vet ( and supported by the military) would be good to appeal to those delegates who are vets themselves.

Good luck with it.

Then the ad we place many need to consider a way to work this in.

WASHINGTON DID NOT CHANGE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

November 28, 2007 Paul: 'Washington did not change me' (CNN) - Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) prefaced his answer to a question about cutting federal spending by responding to a previous statement by Sen. John McCain (R- AZ,) that in 1994, Republicans took control of Congress to change Washington, but instead Washington changed Republicans and spending got "out of control."

- CNN Associate Producer Natalie Apsell

I've had a little more time to think about this.

I'm slightly reminded here of the scene in Office Space where the guys look up money laundering in the dictionary. ;)

For libertarians, the candidate is a means to the issues. But for most of the electorate, the issues are the means to a man. Libertarians often can't get their heads around this fact of life or refuse to follow the implications.

So, with that advisement, here's my idea of a perfect Paul ad:

Start with four pictures across the top, each with a term underneath.

1) Pic: Protesting Mexicans. Caption: Illegal Immigration. 'nuff said.

2) Pic: White family guy sweating over tax forms. Caption: Taxes.

Now, I hate to break this to civil libertarians, but it's really hard to fight directly against the "Patriot" Act. Who doesn't want to be a patriot? (Well, we know who, but we can't say.)

But fucking nobody likes to be searched by the police. So

3) Pic: Sharply dressed black businesswoman getting a hard time at the airport. Looks distressed. Caption: Searches.

We link searches with mistreating non-threatening black women. And we'll pick up a few frequent fliers, nudge-nudge.

4) Pic: Amputee Iraq vet in a hospital bed. Caption: War.

Bonus association: By placing searches right next to war, we link war with searches.

Below this, big letters:

"Is there a Doctor in the White House?"

Big picture of Paul.

"No. But there will be."

We say the presidency is sick. Dr. "No" association, for those who know it. And we directly contradict the idea that he can't win.

Then we tell 'em in big letters what we wan't 'em to do:

"Vote for Dr. Ron Paul for President in the Jan 8 2008 Republican primary."

We've repeated the Doctor theme, and given them a simple, easy command.

And that's all you say.

You definitely don't say, for example, that he'll eliminate the income tax. Even most people who think that's a good idea think it's impossible. Tell 'em that face-to-face and they dismiss you as a nut, or agree with you but not actually change their behavior. So whaddya do?

You make 'em work for it. Give them the URL and toll-free number.

As soon as they've invested even the tiniest bit of effort, they're more likely to give the idea a fair hearing. They'll be reluctant to admit to themselves that they've wasted their effort.

Ain't I right gals? Don't you have to hold a little bit back?

God I feel dirty.

"Vampire Video" is so pejorative. At Intel we prefer the term "integrated graphics."

...Ron Paul is the PEOPLE's CANDIDATE. Perhaps it's best to stay away from Hillary, Liberal , Conservative, and all those labels that have been purposefully perverted into various meanings to different people.

Pauls words seem to work best for him. Works for me.

I don't see 4um as a Republican website. I see it as a place where all points of view are welcome, except for annoying a-holes, and they get plenty of slack ;).

I just think that it's clear that REPUBLICANS are sick of REPUBLICANS, and all the idiotic tricks they pull to put their boy in office. Ron Paul, isn't one of their boys.

I completely understand that the Hillary fear IS ingrained in some, but I question their mental competence anyway if they are voting REPUBLICAN because of Hillary. LOL!

Last, I just don't see RP as a negative ad sort of guy.

I'm in, regardless. I don't know squat about how NH people really think, but I was encouraged yesterday when I heard 60% of likely voters were still undecided. Add that with the RP ground team, and I feel a little giddy!!!

Hillary or McCain are keepers of the status quo, as we all know. That newspaper seems to be pretty right-wing. So hitting Hillary might just be what the doctor ordered.

5% of the eligible voters turn out for primaries. RP supporters are motivated and will turn out. If RP is polling at 5% of the "likely" primary voters who have voted in past primaries, and then you take into account the hundreds of thousands, if not millions of new voters RP has brought into the fold, the math tells me RP wins em all in landslides.

the only thing I see that I would change, is the doubling up of issues in the left hand column. the "Bill of Rights" and "2nd Amendment" issues are esentially the same thing, as are the "immigration" and "Border" issues. maybe, if one or both of those, could be rolled into one and the addition of restoring sound money/monitary policy and the foreign policy issue would cover more points in the same space?

I'm not so sure about that. One of the attacks on RP is that he is weak on terrorism. (I don't think there is a credible threat here, but some do believe there is.) Stopping illegal immigration is one issue, securing the borders to keep out the boogey men terrorists is another, so I think both are important and independent.

yeah, I see how you mean they're independent of each other, which is fine the way it is. I was just thinking that Ron's position on it is that you can't really accomplish one without the other, so they are interconnected. aren't they? also, Ron's main issue that any corrections in our inherent downslide have to start with foreign and monetary policy reform. true, both would be clarified in further reading of RP's platform pages, just wouldn't want to leave out his main point to the root cause of this country's problems.

www.freemarketnews.com/WorldNews.asp?nid=52059

" Now the first step appears to have been taken. Lyman and associates have formed an advertising company, Liberty Advertising, to sell sponsored political ads on behalf of Ron Paul. The ads would appear on a blimp that is being rented by supporters of the campaign, but who are not directly affiliated with it. See website and announcement below:

=====

www.ronpaulblimp.com/index.php

We have formed an advertising company, Liberty Advertising.

Liberty Advertising is selling political advertisements that you can sponsor. Right now we are selling advertising time for Ron Paul, primarily on the Ron Paul Blimp. You can buy as much ad time as you like. When the advertising time you sponsored ends the next customer's advertising time begins (until their time runs out)...and the process repeats for as long as the advertisement's sponsorship lasts.

The ad is a blimp, but you can also think of it as a floating billboard. It will fly for six hours per day generating advertising and publicity while on the ground as well as in the air. Blimp sponsors, the local media and nearby residents will be able to gather at landing sites to tour the blimp. Those with tickets will board for rides. Informal blimp parties will be organized at scheduled stops around the country as the blimp makes its way to key destinations for maximum public exposure.

If there is anything about this advertisement that is not explained to your satisfaction here please check our FAQ's or email us at: inquiries@RonPaulBlimp.com"

The Des Moines register will run a series of examinations into candidates' positions on the important issues of the day. They are choosing only 6 candidates from each party, and they chose to cover Tom Tancredo over Dr. Paul.

From the 'HERE WE GO AGAIN' department:

The Des Moines register will run a series of examinations into candidates' positions on the important issues of the day. They are choosing only 6 candidates from each party, and they chose to cover Tom Tancredo over Dr. Paul.

Picking six on the Republican side was less clear-cut, but the deciding factor was time spent in Iowa. An example: At mid-week, Tom Tancredo had made 85 campaign stops in Iowa this year, five times as many as Ron Paul, who didn't make the cut. Tancredo trails only Mitt Romney and is about even with Mike Huckabee in number of stops.

Deciding whom to support involves more than running down a checklist of issues, of course. Experience, vision and credibility will factor in, too. But we hope our examinations of the candidates' stands on these key issues will help you in making your selection of the right leader for this pivotal time.

Maybe this ad needs to be placed in the Register, instead...

All it takes is practice.

I'm not a geek. In 1998 I didn't know what html was. I did a google on it. Tried a few minor things, then got a little fancier, and then fancier.

Then I had to work with images. So I got a free download of Serif Photo Plus 6, and fiddled with that. Sure it was a pain to find my way, but eventually I did. Then I upgraded a few times, but never to the latest version. I always bought the sale copy of the previous version, so I have a grand total of $40 invested, I think.

Serif has a support forum, so when I run into a brick wall trying to create an effect, I would post it there and get an answer in short order. I haven't used it in a while, but I bet it is still active.

Not that I know much about it but people who do know like Gimp (a LOT). I use Linux (pclinuxos 2007 final release, started out as a beta tester on .92). I like most of the programs in Linux, the ones I actually use, and find them as good or better than anything in Windows. I switched to Linux two or two and a half years ago, something like that anyway, and I don't miss Windows a bit.

Thanks Critter. Do you know anything about Gimp? That is what I have (that and some other things--I have had a LITTLE success with showfoto but it isn't complicated). Here is something I did with showfoto and ksnapshot (screenshot of my computer). Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Well, thank you for the kind words but showfoto is not complicated, not like Gimp or Photoshop.

Yes. It's been a while but that is what I did it with. I posted it one time on a linux board I used to post on and one of the moderators who hated me for reasons unknown removed it and claimed that it was a copyright violation. He was the only guy on that board that I ever had any real problems with, but then he didn't hate just me, he hated almost everyone. Had one of the worst attitudes you could imagine for a moderator. I don't post there anymore and haven't in a long time.

Thank you, you are too kind. It was no big deal and just did it through trial and error. I haven't fooled with it much since I did that one so there would probably be lots of trials to do it again.

A few suggested revisions:

1) The line "They scare us. That is why we need your help." should be "They scare us, which is why we need your help."

2) The line "We are asking that you vote..." should be "We ask that you vote..." (active is always better than passive) or "We urge you to vote..." (for more emphasis)

3) The line "...for the only candidate worthy of your trust, and who can beat Hillary Clinton in the general election, according to numerous public opinion polls" is clumsy because it does not clearly state that RP is the only candidate who can beat Hillary. How about "...for the only candidate worthy of your trust and able to beat Hillary Clinton in the general election, according to numerous public opinion polls."

I have gimp, too, but that's for photo editing. have been looking for something to do video with, either cross-platform OS or linux, as I'm using fedora7. the only program I miss is DVDdecrypter, which is winOS only, since 7 doesn't come with Wine but f6 did. looks more like I'll have to go that route and see how a video editor works in Wine.

I've got the PCLOS-GNOME-2.18.0 version that I've run live and am planning on installing on my second drive when I can get around to clearing what I need off of it. I like some of the KDE apps, like K3b, Amarok and Kword, but don't really care for the KDEdesktop enviro. maybe it's just quirky on fedora but I prefer the feel of gnome.

oh, they're mostly all GUI now. there's some things like mods to the updater config files that you do in a terminal/shell as root, but just about all the old command line stuff has graphic front end now so it is friendlier to win users to change over. [screenshots] plus, most have a live CD/DVD so you can run it from RAM without installing it. it's a good way to check for hardware compatibility before it gets installed and you find out it doesn't have a driver to match your soundcard or something. the live CD/DVD iso files are usually free for most distro's, just like the full OS iso. some, like ubuntu, can be installed from the live disc. just burn it, put it in you cd rom and reboot.

try this one. I use it to rescue all the data from my xp drive when it decided not to boot anymore, even after trying several restore options, was able to mount the xp drive and transfer everything that needed to be saved to an external usb drive. it's very handy, runs on anything.

Critter, I think you will love Linux and I am almost certain of it if you get the right one. While I am very partial to the one I use there are many "flavors" of Linux from sizes you can put on a floppy disk to full-blown commercial versions with thousands of programs. And http://frozentech.com/ is a good source to see how many different versions are available. If you get them from frozentech there is a small fee but you can download the iso file from just about any of them listed and burn the file to your own cd. That is how I got mine.

And you might want to check out distrowatch to give you some idea of the pros and cons of different ones. And an idea as to how popular each one is (but that should never be the sole criteria--the guy behind Ubuntu is a millionaire and ships them free all over the world and thus it is rated highly; but I tried a derivative of Ubuntu one time and didn't like it at all).
