Looking over the sale ads while visiting Mom today, it looks like the thing to nut-up over this year is flat screen TeeVees. As psychotic as everybody has gotten lately, I'm guessing people are going to be killing each other trying to get "their fair share" tomorrow. Only deaths over TeeVees count. 12:00AM - 11:59PM Friday.

My old TV went kaput a few months back. Here in my new place...no TV. I ain't got the cash to get one, another luxury I can't afford in this day of prosperity and no inflation and let the good times roll. /sarc I'll live without the JewTube. I believe that the panic-selling will begin well before Christmas...one of our local grocers was offering 27" LCD tv's for $199. this past week.
I found out the hard way that retailers use Christmas to dump a lot of poor quality junk on shoppers. In reality, you are overpaying for what you are getting. Best to avoid all the holiday shopping crap unless you have a pretty good idea of what you're buying.

Case in point, the $299 laptop I saw Best Buy pumping. It's pretty much the laptop I'm typing this post on...which I bought almost three years ago. Only now they are willing to throw in a $45 printer with it.

I was told last year that at the local best buy dozens of people spent thursday night on the sidewalk in front of the store to get one of those laptops. they opened at 6 am and the laptops were gone at 6:05. not everyone who spent the night got one. seems kid of pathetic, but I suppose if you really really need a laptop and only have 299.........
I buy a new one every year. I got tired of the cheap shit like the low-lifes buy. There is none available in any store that meets my standards so ordered a new one and it's special made. (grin) It was only $71,799.99 and is gold inlaid. It has a very special 159" panel designed just for me. Did I tell you people this yet? I bought Cincinatti last week.

oh, I'll go with 5. the number would be much higher if there was an 'elmo' tv for the kids. I think injuries numbered in the 100s back in the *tickle me elmo* days, almost as bad as the *cabbage patch kids* craze. 'must have' stuff for kids seem to heighten the craziness of adults aroud the holidays.
Then you probably don't need a laptop in the first place.

I bought China last month, and am having a TeeVee built for my wife that is so big, the FAA has to restrict the airspace over my house, which is bigger than the pentagon and built out of solid platinum, by the way. It must suck to be a pauper like you. You should've tried working for a living rather than tippy-tapping on the internut all day, every day.
First, not everyone "needs" a laptop. I have one because I wanted one because it's more convenient for me to surf the net on my dot-com sofa. By chance if someone does "need" a laptop and only has $299, then they need to be shopping on ebay. That's where I sold the laptop that this one replaced. You won't get trampled and you won't have to camp out in freezing weather to get one.

You mean you didn't lease it, like you did your used Hummer? You probably needed your wife to co-sign on the loan to get it...just like your wife had to in order for you to get the mortgage for your house.

First, not everyone "needs" a laptop. ok, I'm chastised. I should have said "wants" not "needs". just trying to be a real american on thanksgiving.... you know, where see = want = need = borrow = buy = happiness!!!
I guess that is what I'll be doing soon. I'll be damned if I'll pay for one of those boxes to convert from analog to digital once they televise in HDTV in a year or two. I won't pay the high prices for a satellite dish nor pay those crooks for cable either. I have an antenna for UHF and VHF with a rotor that doesn't work. Screw TV anyway. The news sucks and is controlled plus you get bombarded with commercials. I got my first color tv back in 1984 wheb the old 19" black & white zenith bit the dust. It lasted since 1968 until 1984. The high prices for high speed computer are what keeps me on the slow old dial up at $12.95 a month. If and when that goes up, my computer days are over. I'm not a tightwad, just trying to get by on a fixed income and ungodly medical bills. Last year the medical bills for me and the wife were over $7,500. The only vacation I've taken the last few years has been to the spring NASCAR race at Bristol and I camp out for 3 or 4 nights for $25.00 bucks a night. I gave up my tickets to Bristol for this coming spring race because they keep going up and I can't see to drive that well to go that distance anymore. Then there is the wonderful price of gas foisted upon us by the bush/cheney crime syndicate. Then the price of home heating, natural gas went up about 12% for this winter. I won't even be doing any Christmas shopping except for the small kids, nieces's and nephew's kids. Maybe about $100/150 dollars if that much and only necessities like clothing, boots, shoes etc. It sure is great to be living the golden years or to put it in proper perspective, it is nice to be fuct. Let the fools trample each other fighting over those flat screen demon boxes. It is of no concern to me. As for Christmas decorating, we have one outside decoration that I will be putting up near Christmas which is a wire fabric covered snowman,21/2 feet tall with one bulb and inside an 18" high ceramic Christmas tree made by my late mother which also has one bulb but multi colored plastic shaped bulbs to give the appearance of a well lit tree. Frugality is a must in my household, not an option. Fools and their money soon part and they willingly hand it over to the guys who celebrate Hannucah or however you spell it. The money I save this year will buy the plants and seed for my garden come planting season.
ok.. first, you need to state, whole of USA, east coast or west coast, city/country.. With none of that information, I go with 3 east coast, 1/ 1/2 west coast and 3/4 in Canada.. wait a sec, that's right, the loonie is at 1.37 to ours, so 1 2/5's in Canada..
I saw some good clips on tee-vee with the sheep just running over each other to get to the "bargains". I always make it out to a mall or two just to get a look at how pathetic Americans have become.

I'm jealous that you bought China. I wanted all the slave laborers under my control. I also wanted to order the Chinese army to shoot anyone who dares to start a union. I can't have those people making anymore than 11 cents or working less than 80 hours a week. My stock portfolio depends on it. I also want to tear down their dorms and put them in pup tents. Those dorms are too expensive to maintain. One toilet and one light bulb per dorm cost too much in water and electric bills. I wanted to buy control but you beat me to it.

HeeHee My wife and her crazy female kin started in the middle of the night. They spend Thanksgiving afternoon with the ads spread out on the dining room table and preparing plans that would put the invasion of Europe to shame. None of the guys complain. It keeps 'em from buggin' us about watching football all day.
