Iran urges disarming nuclear states TEHRAN (Press TV) -- Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council on Thursday called on the NPT signatories to strive for the disarmament of atomic powers.
Speaking at the International Conference on Iran's Nuclear Program, which kicked off here on Thursday, Saeed Jalili said, ""The Article 6 of the Non-Proliferation Treaty stresses the necessity of the disarmament of nuclear powers.""
""Islamic Republic of Iran insists on its absolute rights within the framework of NPT, and won't accept to be deprived of its nuclear rights,"" Jalili reiterated.
""Iran complied with additional protocol for two years voluntarily for trust-building measures and IAEA had more than 2300 man-hour inspections of our nuclear facilities,"" he maintained.
Jalili asserted that IAEA Director General, Mohammad ElBaradei has officially announced in his reports that not even a single document is available to prove that Iran has deviated from the peaceful nuclear path.
The security official added that as a member of the international community Iran has contributed to world security.
