Proof: Our Founders Wanted A White America

Re: president George W. Bush's guest-worker plan [January 2004] to allow millions of illegal immigrants to remain in America:

How did our Founding Fathers feel about the matter of 'who can become a citizen of America?' Let's take a look:

Act of March 26, 1790 (1 Stat 103-104):

"That any alien, being a free white person, who shall have resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States for the term of two years, may be admitted to become a citizen thereof, on application to any common law court of record, in any one of the States wherein he shall have resided for the term of one year at least, and making proof to the satisfaction of such court, that he is a person of good character..."

It is clear that our Founders wanted a White America, not an America full of Browns, Blacks, Asians and Jews. In fact, America's 'only-Whites-are-American-citizens-with-full-rights' feature did not end until the 14th Amendment was ratified in 1868:

"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside." Notice that the requirement of needing to be White to be a citizen is gone. In other words, up until 1868 only Whites were 'real' citizens of America.

If our Founders had wanted America to be a racial melting-pot, why did they insist on Whiteness as a criteria for citizenship? Our media and our popular-culture directors know that America was intended to be a White country, which is why they malign anyone who suggests otherwise.

You know, sometimes I think the founders weren't so smart after all.

I like the idea of a predominantly white America. Trouble is, when sons-of-bitches who were too lazy to work their own land decided to import slaves -- in large numbers, at that -- they pretty much doomed the idea of a racially homogeneous land. The spiritual descendants of these same shiftless SOBs run corporate America today (along with, of course, both caucuses of the Corporate & War Party), and so they're still importing cheap labor in massive numbers. Not quite slaves, of course, but kind of close in some ways.

So, I have to disagree that the founders didn't want lots of "Browns and Blacks" in America. True, they didn't want 'em being citizens ... but they wanted 'em. As so often happens, the sins of the fathers are visited on the descendant generations.

How was anyone supposed to compete with slave-owners, yet alone block them from bringing in slaves? What were they supposed to do, question the slaves in their native language? Only allow Americans to ship to America? Practically everyone looks at the system then through anachronistic stupid PC-TV goggles. Even now the government has some control, what is being done about importing wage-slaves or their products? Nothing! The hypocrisy is abso-effing-lutely astounding.

It wasn't so much that the white indentured servants they originally imported to do most of the work were lazy, they were a political threat to the establishment. It was after the indentured servants supported Bacon's Rebellion in Virginia that the plantation owners started importing black slaves in large numbers.

To reason, indeed, he was not in the habit of attending. His mode of arguing, if it is to be so called, was one not uncommon among dull and stubborn persons, who are accustomed to be surrounded by their inferiors. Maybe they shouldn't have competed with slaveowners. Maybe they should have supported self and family from a homestead-type farm, and not been scrambling to become richer than humanly possible by using slaves to grow cash crops like cotton.

My part of the country was settled by immigrant Germans. They seemed to do all right without slaves. Perhaps they didn't have vast plantations and enormous mansions ... but they also didn't screw up the country for us, either. In brief, they knew how to work with their own hands. Wish those southern bastards could have figured that out.
