You must feel silly then. because currently of all the money collected each week through the 'payroll tax' only about 60% of it actually goes to the intended purpose of supporting the social security & medicare systems. the rest of the money goes to the 'general fund' and thus is devoted to the war- spending. So, that is some kind of reform. you tell the people you want to invest their money so that it will grow and you can give it to them later. and then you take 40% of the money supposed to be devoted to the program. only a bush-bot will defend this 'reform'.

The system isn't broken. It's the most successful government program of all time. It's facing problems because Bush loots 40% of the pay in to pay for his tax cuts to the wealthy. I know that that the surplus money is not longer put into trust and now goes into the general fund. That's the problem. One of the first things Bush did was undo the trust the Clinton established and funnel the money back into the general fund. Now about 60% passes through for payment and about 40% is used to help pay for the tax cuts. I said "If the money was put into a trust" the system would be solvent.
