Thanks to those here for your time and interest in creating our ad (a special thanks to Critter) for the Manchester Union Leader. Pending agreement with the paper, our plan is to run it on Sunday, January 6th , two days before the New Hampshire primary.

We have two choices. The 4 x 6 Black and White for $1100 and 4 x 6 Color for $1864. Our preference, of course, is the eye catching color!

Several 4um members have pledged financial support and now we need to hear from others who enjoy posting here on a regular basis. I believe that the presidency of Ron Paul is our last chance to Restore our Republic and to save our country.

I would appreciate it so much if we at Freedom4um could do our part in making this happen. You may PM me with your pledges and with complete confidentiality. (1 image)

Subliminal messages in the ad:

1. Title statement looks like a fact. For a casual careless observer who does not go deeper than title this could be an ad for the person named in the title.

2. 2nd line "Scare" is negative. Instinctive answer to the question is NO (I don't get scared -> I'm not with you)

3 "scares us" - repeats 2. -> Those who get scared loose.

4. "Put an end to war on drugs"? Like, is he actually FOR them?

5. 5-end stars in the photo can be interpreted as a hint that the object is part of the system.

Just some marketing thoughts...

I agree. A lot of poeple won't notice anything but the title and think it is an ad for Hilary and instead of getting scared they might even like it. Instead of going negative like Fred and McCain did in the debate it might be good to only talk about the positives - Ron Paul's stance on the issues.

for me, it works. that headline is an attention grabber and it makes me want to read what comes next. our target audience for the ad is republicans who can and will vote in the NH primary so i think that, in this case, the hillary fear factor is going to sell.

New Englanders may be an ornery lot but they are honest. Most will at least speed read the ad and if they already have problems with Hillary it will be reinforced one more time.

We will get a circulation of over 250,000 statewide with a readership in excess of 300,000. Those are people that vote. If we get 30,000 to read the ad and think, our money is well spent.

Voting for the sorry lot of Giuliani and McLame has got to sour the thoughts of many people.

Update: We've received pledges for $1200 so far. If everyone gave just $10, we could do this easily. We're getting close! Remember, our goal is $1864 for the color ad.

Thank you all for your consideration.

Who are your economic advisers?

I don't have any. I read Austrian economics, which I've been doing for 30 years. So my advisers have been [von] Mises and Hayek and Sennholz.

Ive met Williams nor am negative in regard to him.. but from the link.. there was this "Video of Milton Friedman On Limited Government" .. I wonder what Williams thoughts are in regard to Milton Friedman?

Ron Paul admires Friedman (Milton Friedman 1912-2006 by Ron Paul). I think at one level, we have people who think in partisan terms, lumping people together with their ideas. At a higher level, there are only ideas.

Well yes .. if you consider what role those ideas played in Chile under Pinochet, Friedman's 'guinea pig'..

Ideas are different from actions. Ron Paul's notions of free markets are probably not very different from Milton Friedman's. But I doubt that Ron Paul would have cozied up to a dictator who had been installed with the help of American intervention.

I think we have to decide if we like Ron Paul's ideas about free markets. Have they guided him in the right direction during his life? Has he lived up to his stated ideals, or has he at least done a good job of trying?

RP has discussed his positions on Trade. Free Trade. He said, he supported some agreements, and others he did not. He does not support trade where there is no mutal benefit to such agreements. Meaning, if America loses, he does not support it. In the interview I saw, he gave more specifics as to which he did not support.

He believes in Trade, but ONLY where there is mutual benefit.

Seems he might be the only one that truly looks at when it is good for us and when it is not.

I don't think he intends to impose any serious trade restrictions. He didn't oppose the Dubai ports deal. He doesn't oppose MFN status for China. He says that NAFTA/CAFTA are wrong because they are "managed" trade, not because they allow free (unfettered) trade.

Ron Paul won't be saving the middle class with "fair" trade. He would work to save the middle class by opening up competition to our fiat currency. That could do more to help than imposing arbitrary fair trade standards.

It remains to be seen.
