Thanks to those here for your time and interest in creating our ad (a special thanks to Critter) for the Manchester Union Leader. Pending agreement with the paper, our plan is to run it on Sunday, January 6th , two days before the New Hampshire primary.

We have two choices. The 4 x 6 Black and White for $1100 and 4 x 6 Color for $1864. Our preference, of course, is the eye catching color!

Several 4um members have pledged financial support and now we need to hear from others who enjoy posting here on a regular basis. I believe that the presidency of Ron Paul is our last chance to Restore our Republic and to save our country.

I would appreciate it so much if we at Freedom4um could do our part in making this happen. You may PM me with your pledges and with complete confidentiality. (1 image)

Subliminal messages in the ad:

1. Title statement looks like a fact. For a casual careless observer who does not go deeper than title this could be an ad for the person named in the title.

2. 2nd line "Scare" is negative. Instinctive answer to the question is NO (I don't get scared -> I'm not with you)

3 "scares us" - repeats 2. -> Those who get scared loose.

4. "Put an end to war on drugs"? Like, is he actually FOR them?

5. 5-end stars in the photo can be interpreted as a hint that the object is part of the system.

Just some marketing thoughts...

I agree. A lot of poeple won't notice anything but the title and think it is an ad for Hilary and instead of getting scared they might even like it. Instead of going negative like Fred and McCain did in the debate it might be good to only talk about the positives - Ron Paul's stance on the issues.

for me, it works. that headline is an attention grabber and it makes me want to read what comes next. our target audience for the ad is republicans who can and will vote in the NH primary so i think that, in this case, the hillary fear factor is going to sell.

I don't agree, but I'm usually wrong about trends. Go RP. Where do we send the dough?

To tell you the truth, if my health allowed I would be in New Hampshire for a few days to join the youngsters that are carrying the torch.

MSM keeps saying it is just the young anti war that support Paul, well I aint young.

A little goes a long way.

I want to be totally honest with you.

I charge Christine 10 cents a post. At the end of the month it comes to a nice amount. I send the due bill to Christine and she in ignores it. One of these days...just maybe...

Always a dangerous thing, but I just had a thought from back when I was purchasing advertisements: do we get a 'proof' before we pay and the ad runs? After reading their whacked endorsement of McChurian, I'm not sure that I trust those guys...

No proofie, no payie was the motto, back when.

No proofie, no payie

Bill Loeb was an honest man. I dont know who runs the show now but I am satisfied not much has changed.

Below about bills wife, I liked the last sentence.

"She and her late husband, William Loeb, bought the two papers in the 1940s, and her husband was credited with turning them into some of the nation's most conservative. He earned a national reputation for himself and the newspapers with a blunt editorial style and active involvement in presidential primaries and state politics.

The Union Leader is the largest newspaper in the state and the only statewide daily, and the Sunday News is the New Hampshire's largest Sunday paper. Their endorsement in any election -- from mayoral to gubernatorial to presidential -- carried enormous weight. Forbes called Mrs. Loeb "a great conservative, a good friend and a principled ally."

Mrs. Loeb, who also was an heir to the Scripps Howard publishing fortune, took over as publisher after her husband died in 1981. During her 18 years at the helm, she pursued a more subdued, but still forceful approach. During a February visit by President Clinton, she didn't hesitate to publish a front-page editorial with the headline, "Mr. President, you're a disgrace!"
