Here's a couple email reports I recieved - first up from Lydia (CodePINK Tallahassee) who's at the CP house in DC for two weeks...

....Col. Ann Wright was sentenced to 6 months probation (the strictest kind you've ever heard of - she can't even raise her voice near the Hill) - it was a jury trial and just blew everyone's' mind in the room. Check out the video interview with Bill O'Reilly that Deidra posted for the group not too long ago.

When Gen Petraeus spoke in the Senate in September (not the House where I stood on a chair), Ann said "I am a diplomat for peace". She knows Crocker, didn't interrupt anyone.....it was profiling for sure.

The jury was selected in the morning. They found her guilty! (the judge was the same one who recently let Midge off with a $500 fine - Midge was back on the Hill the next day and the judge (a woman) mentioned that when sentencing Ann. "I gave your friend some leniency and she was back here the next day"... (Midge didn't do anything but go up there, don't even know how the judge knew that????)

WORST OF ALL, she also got 3 days in jail and they took her away, right there. She looked freaked out, had tears in her eyes. Her sciatic nerve has been so painful it's hard to walk at times. I wasn't there but the group that was came home bummed, bummed, bummed.

Send Ann your good vibes and love. They will give her credit for tonight and she should be home on Friday.....

Next another email report...

Hi All, I'm forwarding this email to you because I think It's a terrible and scarey step toward what's happening to this country. If you don't know about Ann Wright, she's a former Army Colonel and Diplomat (29 years in service), who has been going around the country speaking out and writing for peace. She was recently turned away from getting into Canada (with Medea Benjamin) though she was invited to speak there by a group of Canadian MP's.

From: NYDIA LEAF

Hi All - Jenny called from DC to say that Ann Wright's trial today ended with her being sentenced to 3 days in jail, 6 months probation, and 75 hours of community service.

Ann had interrupted Gen. Petraeus' hearing in September when he gave his report to the Senate committee on the troop "surge" in Iraq. She had called out "Swear him in" so that his testimony would be under oath and he could then be held accountable for his statements. She was removed from the hearing room and Petraeus delivered a report.

Today was the trial and Jenny, Ann, Laurie, Joan and several others saw her being led away to jail.

I called Code Pink house and Samantha said they're trying to get more exact info...about an appeal, visiting times, time of release on Friday, etc. I've asked that Liz or Desiree email me details as they get it. I'll pass them along as they come but I intend to go to DC on Friday for the day.

Between this and the Canada-FBI list, it's clear the USG is determined to silence Ann. Nydia

Poster Comment:

Why didn't the Democrats demand that Petraeus be sworn so if he told whoppers he could go to jail? Makes you wonder just to whom the Loyal Opposition is loyal!!

That'll teach her a lesson.

Pitching a little shit-fit and interrupting Congress is immature.

Like my father always said, "Don't listen to what they say; watch what they do."
