Washington -- Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff is giving Texas property owners, who don't want a border fence, one last chance to allow access to their land. If not, then Chertoff plans to take court action against them to enter the property. U.S. Sen. John Cornyn said letters from the Department of Homeland Security are expected to go out Friday. Federal officials said they need access to the land to assess possible sites for the fence to curb illegal immigration from Mexico and other crime. Cornyn said he's continuing to urge Homeland Security to consult with local officials. Cornyn also said Chertoff told him about 40 landowners have refused to provide access to their land. A Homeland Security spokesman wasn't immediately available for comment.

Many years ago, in her book _101 Things to do Before the Revolution Comes_ author Claire Wolfe famously wrote, "America is at that difficult stage. It's clearly too late to change anything by working within the system, but it is still too early to just shoot the bastards." In 2004, she responded to repeated questions by pointing out that it is no longer too early. It is "half past Claire." I would say several hours past, myself. This sort of taking is just nonsense. The central government has authority to procure only such property as agreed to by the state in which the property exists, and only for the purpose of building a fort, arsenal, dockyard, or other needful building. You can read it in the constitution.

Maybe the Mexicans will allow Chertoff access from the other side.
Build the wall on the northern, eastern, and western borders of Texas. No more Mexican invasion, no more Bush's, no more Roves, no more LBJ's.
Republicans (Democrats for that matter) ....... HAD ENOUGH?
