While I was never a great fan of Reagan, in large part because he accepted George Bush Sr. as a running mate, this is one of the most touching songs I have ever heard.

For those who may not be able to make out the lyrics.

The Long Goodbye

We shared a wondrous life
It's hard to understand
But I have to say goodbye
Now while I still can

And though we've done it all
There's still so much to do
Our Spring will turn to Fall
As I Winter without you

Remember all the smiles
But if you need to cry
Love's never out of style
Despite The Long Goodbye

And those who still believe
In love so deep and pure
Won't feel we've been deceived
By the things we must endure

I won't ask you to stay
But I'm praying that you'll try
I'll love you anyway
Despite The Long Goodbye

I know it's hard to see
A mind no longer there
But my heart will always be
As long as I breathe air

And in eternity
My love will fill the sky
As I watch and wait for thee
But now the Long Goodbye
I'll watch and wait for thee
'Til you can be with me
But now The Long Goodbye

Good old song! Swaying back and forth, and somehow, my brain had all the words tucked away. LOL!!

Good one.

Very very touching. There was a time I though Nancy's stares at Ron were just over the top fake. I think I was wrong. She loved him.

Yes, I think she did too. No reason for her, at her age and being independently wealthy, to have stayed with him through all that and then all the strain of the funeral and everything if she didn't. Not that either of them were my favorite people but I was also very touched by the song.

Good song! I like Reagans mannerisms I guess. But I didn't really pay that much attention to what all was going on at that time.

Whatever Reagan did or didn't do he is dead and gone on to his reward, whatever it was. And I guess the only ones who could know that with absolute certainty was him and God. I didn't like that he rolled over and played dead and accepted that criminal, Bush, to be veep. I think that is one of the worst things he did.

But we know where we're heading. And it smells like poop.

Reagan read well, and even had a few good ideas before he became property of General Electric.

He did write some beautiful things. I also remember some of his writings about his radio days. I think he was underestimated in many many ways.

Property of GE? Well, the lot of them should have sponsor stickers on their suits. Just like race cars.

Entwined with GE? Is that better? :)

Well I didn't object to the first characterization, but you did get me thinking about them, BellLabs (AT&T), and domestic spying. Thanks, I was happy there for a nano second. ;)

Yeah. And even worse. Most politicians stink up the place like a big load of mercaptans. It's what gives skunks their delightful aroma, the same thing with Heineken's beer.

LOL! Indeed. I hate Heineken's. To me it is one of the worst beers made. But apparently some folks like that skunky taste.
