I'm thinking more about posters' comments on another thread regarding suggestions for RP's running mate...and I know at this point we are getting ahead of ourselves, but what the heck, it's Christmas and it's okay to be frivalous...

Perhaps Judge Napolitano might be a better fit as Attorney General.

And Senator Jim Webb ( a former GOP'er who left the party because of the neocon take-over) might be a good candidate for RP's Vice President. Webb is very personable and articulate and he is old school conservative. ( I don't see him as a Dem frankly. That marriage is one of convenience for all parties concerned).

So what do you guys think of my VP candidate suggestion?

I like your candidate immensely. However, the dual party loyalists would freak out with such a combination.

These are the sorts who wouldn't vote for Ron Paul anyway. Those who take R and D seriously are either Bushbots or Clintonbots.

There's a lot of discontent that I'm reading on Dembot forums like kos and du. Ditto for GOPbot forums lp and fr.

A combination ticket of an outsider R with an outsider D might provide something that the cast aside and unhappy former R & D loyalist voters can identify with and be attracted to.

Also Jim Webb would be groomed to take over from the RP presidency so there would be an AmericaFirst heir apparent in place to go the distance after RP retires from public office.

Excellent points.

I'm reminded of the rumor that Reagan was required to put Bush on the ticket by the Rockefeller wing of the GOP. What will they do if RP wins the nomination? How much influence can they exert on the VP choice? How will they exert that influence, if so?

I'd like to think that they would have no influence at all, but as the song says, "no one knows what goes on behind closed doors." If Dr. Paul was convinced that it would help further his goals without requiring him to sacrifice his moral and political values, I could see him going for it. However, I believe with all my heart that Ron Paul is an honest, virtuous man and would not bend to the threats and/or manipulations of any wing of the Republicratic Party.
