I really, really love George W. Bush, and I hope he lives to be 150 years old. Thanks to him, I'll never have to live under another Republican president as long as I live. He's fantastic. All any Democrat will have to say to be elected in the next ten general elections will be "Do you want things to be like they were under George W. Bush?" - and they'll win in a landslide. Back in the good ol days at TOS1, when there was a shipload of researchers, we never came up with these 'valuable' minerals....we did come up with Milo's refusal to sign onto the Transbalkan pipeline, and, of course, he refused to sign the Rambouillet Accords which was essentially giving his country away.

For me it was sometime during Bush I or early in the Clinton debacle. It just hit me one day, commuting to work and staring out the window, that there was a common thread running through a lot of the criminal actions of the government. That would have been somewhere around 92 or 93. I had previously been cynical but did not attribute it to an organized activity. One thing I ran into which made sense was a quote I saw that attributed to Thomas Jefferson: (this is from memory and is not exactly verbatim) "When a pattern of events evinces a common design one is right to infer a conspiracy." It might be "reasonable to infer a conspiracy" - it's been a couple years. Jefferson was speaking of the Aaron Burr conspiracy a documented historical incident, but it has broader application.
