Title: Should We Celebrate Holidays?

First off, let us start with an understanding of the contruction of words in English. To join toi joinable words together, such as -- holy -- and -- days -- , simply change the y to i and join them. Thus, holy day, becomes holi day, and when joined, becomes holiday. This is basic English.

The Bible is not the source of the popular religious and secular holidays that are celebrated in many parts of the world today. What, then, is the origin of such celebrations? If you have access to a library/internet, you will find it interesting to note what reference books say about holidays that are popular where you live. Consider a few examples;

Easter

www.letgodbetrue.com/bibl...idays/easter-problems.htm

We cannot find Easter in the Bible.

This is a major problem for us, because we are Bible Christians. We only worship the Lord Jesus Christ according to what is written in the Holy Scriptures. The great and dreadful God of the Bible demands worship exactly as He has commanded. He will not tolerate additions or deletions, no matter how innocent, noble, popular, or sincere. If you doubt this, ask Cain about his offering, Nadab and Abihu about contemporary worship, Moses about striking a rock, or David about moving the Ark of the Covenant on a new ox cart. All four were judged severely for altering the worship of God. If we cannot find a doctrine or practice clearly taught in the Bible, we hate it and oppose it with all our might; therefore, we hate Easter and anything to do with it, for it is not in the Bible.

Proof: Gen 4:1-7; Lev 10:1-7; Num 20:1-13; Deut 5:32; 12:29-32; II Sam 6:1-10; I Chron 15:12-15; Ps 119:128; Isaiah 8:20; Matt 28:20; Rom 16:17-18; Gal 1:6-9; II Cor 11:1-4; II Thess 2:15; 3:6; II Tim 3:16-17; Titus 3:10-11; Jude 1:3.

We can find Easter in pagan history.

The name gives it away as evil.

The date gives it away as evil.

The customs give it away as evil.

Rabbits do not lay eggs

Sunrise services are pagan.

Fish on Friday is Venus sex worship.

And etc. Lots of good info.

New Years Clebrations

www.thercg.org/articles/wcdcny.html

... Then, reaching all the way back, people decided that this was not only the day on which Christ’s earthly life began—it was the day everything began, the day of Creation itself. From here it was a very short step—an almost unavoidable one—to the idea that March 25th must be the beginning of the year, and from the twelfth century until the calendar reform in 1752, March 25th was New Year’s day” (Days and Customs of All Faiths, Howard V. Harper, 1957).

As you can plainly see, the history of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s day speaks for itself, how it originated in the minds of men—pagan idol-worshippers—and how it slowly developed over the centuries.

Now notice God’s view of New Year’s, and any holiday that has its roots in pagan practices, customs and traditions. You may be shocked by what He has to say.

God Hates All Pagan Customs and Traditions—Including New Year’s

Let’s begin with Jeremiah 10:2-3: “Learn not the way of the heathen…for the customs of the people are vain.” That’s a Bible command. Throughout His Word, God describes “heathen” as those who worship nature (the sun, moon, stars, trees, etc.), or man-made idols, or anything but the one true God. He calls such people and their practices pagan. True Christians understand that God hates any customs, practices and traditions that have pagan roots.

How serious is God about paganism? When He rescued the twelve tribes of Israel from Egypt and led them out of brutal slavery, He commanded them, “After the doings of the land of Egypt, where in you dwelt, you shall not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, where I bring you, shall you not do: neither shall you walk in their ordinances” (Lev. 18:3). God demanded the Israelites not defile themselves with the practices and customs of the surrounding nations (vs. 24-29). “Therefore shall you keep My ordinance, that you commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that you defile not yourselves therein: I am the Lord your God” (vs. 30).

There is a lot more at this site, and I could post many, many more, but you can find them as well.

Holloween (In Mèxico, The Day of the Dead)

www.britannica.com/ebc/ar...66492?query=Halloween&ct=

Holiday observed on October 31, the eve of All Saints' Day.

Its pagan origins can be traced to the Celtic festival of Samhain, celebrated in ancient England and Ireland to mark the beginning of the Celtic new year. The souls of the dead were supposed to revisit their homes on Samhain eve, and witches, goblins, black cats, and ghosts were said to roam abroad. The night was also thought to be the most favorable time for divinations concerning marriage, luck, health, and death. The pagan observances influenced the Christian festival of All Hallows' Eve, celebrated on the same date. The holiday was gradually secularized and was introduced into the U.S. by the late 19th century. Still associated with evil spirits and the supernatural, it is celebrated by children in costume who gather candy by ringing doorbells and calling out “trick or treat,” “trick” referring to the pranks and vandalism that are also part of the Halloween tradition.

Xmas With all that has been posted about this, do I even have to go into it?!

Other Holidays

It simply is not possible to go into all of the other holi-days held throughout America. However, it needs to be noted that holi-days that exalt humans or human organizations ARE NOT acceptable to God. (Jeremiah 17:5-7; Acts 10:25, 26). You should keep in mind that the origins of religious celebrations has a bearing on whether they please God or not. (Isiah 52:11; Rev. 18:4)

The end result is the choice that we each make, individually, to please God, or, to please ourselves. Our choices are seldom good choices.

We should observe the Holy Days laid out for us in Scripture. VERY FEW will even keep the Sabbath properly though, let alone any of the others.

Not one of them is a "holiday" of US national recognition...

America is at that awkward stage. It's too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards. On the road to tyranny, we've gone so far that polite political action is about as useless as a miniskirt in a convent.
