These ads sure bring back memories. This is one that I remember seeing at such a young age that to me then, Choo choo Charley represented an older boy.
I believe this one is older then the Flinstone commercial which I remember well as my Mom smoked those damn things.
I remember that one very well. WPIX from NYC used to run the shit of that commercial back in the '60s. I love to watch those old commercials. There's tons on YouTube and I've spent many an hour watching them.
I've also mined You Tube for these old commercials too. I used to watch the Chuck McCann Show on WPIX channel 11, New York, and they were the channel with 8th Man, Gigantor, and lots of early Japanese Cartoons.
They also had the Yankees ball games, but I forgive them in spite of being a Red Sox fan. I liked WPIX and also WNEW channel 5, the Metromedia Station. That station had Sandy Becker, Kimba the White Lion, Astroboy, and other Japanese cartoons. ;-)
I was angered to find it is now WNYW, the Faux Network flagship station. How sad.

Yep, the early to late '60s. Officer Joe Bolton and Captain Jack McCarthy. I think they ran Speed Racer too. I think McCann was on Sunday mornings if I remember correctly. Back in those days, we had only 5 channels on cable in central PA. WPIX and WOR were two of them. I can remember WOR running the same 'Million Dollar Movie' five times in a row. As I look back, they were the best stations we got. That's when a TV station could really be 'independent.'
I lived in Clinton, Connecticut and often prefered WNEW and WPIX to network flagship stations like WNBC channel 4, WCBS channel 2/3 and the ABC station in New Haven, WNHC channel 8.
I don't have or want a TV anymore. I either use the computer or perhaps the radio, though as a bicyclist I don't use that much.
I am disgusted when I do browse through a TV channel selection, most of it is pure unadulterated garbage.
