Woman Claims Reading Bible Got Her Booted Off Bus

FORT WORTH (CBS) 53; A passenger says the Fort Worth bus service discriminated against her religion, CBS station KTVT-TV in Dallas reported.

Christine Lutz says she was reading her Bible to her children when the bus driver asked her to stop or get off the bus.

Lutz, a Seventh Day Adventist, and her children were on their way to church.

Lutz claims the driver told her it wasn't the time or place to read the bible. "I said, 'Oh, but it's the perfect time and the perfect place since it is our Sabbath and it is the time with the Lord and therefore I'm going to continue.' And I continued," Lutz said.

A supervisor came aboard the bus. Lutz also told him that she would not stop reading. She and her family were escorted off the bus.

"This was definitely a clear cut case of persecution," Lutz said.

Or was it a clear cut case of policy?

"Anyone who is loud will be asked to be quiet," said Trinity Railway Express bus service representative Joan Hunter. "That is a standard policy across country in the transit industry."

It doesn't matter what is said, the company has a policy of no loud or abusive behavior.

"It's only if the other passengers will complain, or it's obviously so loud it's distracting the operator, that we will ask them to stop," Hunter explained.

Yeah, persecution against an annoying person talking too loud.

Last time I rode a bus I was ready to shoot someone, and that was five years ago.

If I rode every day, I wouldn't want anyone to talk, and that includes reading the Bible out loud.

Fortune favors the prepared mind. A zombie, however, prefers it raw.

I am a big fan of the Bible, and I agree with you. All her actions are going to do is create enemies, not friends. Both for her and for the Bible.

When a man who is honestly mistaken hears the truth, he will either quit being mistaken or cease to be honest.

That's fair, but who says she was loud?

The last time I rode a bus it reminded me of a Spike Lee movie.

I haven't been on a bus for almost a half century but I have a hunch Bible shouting would be the least of my irritations.
