The calls are mixed, so maybe when the festivities get under way, the video will be of the republican caucuses.

MSNBC is going live at 8 cst. They're talking about Ron Paul now, and his chance to finish third in both Iowa and NH, and perhaps win SC. I would watch this as opposed to CSPAN, frankly. Anyway, I am.

Looks like Obama and Hucklebuck are going to win, though.

My translation 2nd.

Given that the MSM Presstitutes have been hawking the "Ron Paul doesn't exist" disinformation line they might even be running scared that he is actually going to win it.

There may be so many supporters and observers present that they can't steal enough votes to give it Hucksterberry.

However, 2nd sounds like a safe bet since they don't want Ron Paul to finish #1.

I'm gonna call FOUL if RP only gets 10%.

The polls said 10%. The polls are not indicative of RP's support at all.

If the polls "nailed" it, then there is cheating going on, big time.

Come now.

The Polls, that leave Ron Paul out, are always right.

So, ergo if the vote tallies differ from the Polls of course the tallies have to be "adjusted" to be in line with the Polls.

See, makes perfect sense.

Not that I'm cynical mind you.

Also, I just noticed on CNN that they're showing a blank on their pie chart where Paul should be. More precincts have reported and all of the previously top four candidates numbers have shrunk. The blank portion of the pie chart has grown quite a bit, but THEY'RE STILL NOT SHOWING who's in the blank part of the pie chart. Most of that vote is for Ron Paul. Like I said, the night is still young. We all knew that Huckster and Joseph Smith would be first and second. It's still show time for third place.

From another perspective, it's good to see the Iowa electoral process unfolding. The Iowans we're hearing on CSPAN: 165k expected, 185k actually came out to vote. People really care about this election. No matter what happens, I want to see the democratic process WORK.

I just heard 205K.

Call it divine intervention, or ESP or whatever, but for some odd reason, I found myself cleaning up my reloading bench earlier this evening.

Maybe it's time to finish up those 69gr .223 rounds I started a couple of months ago.

They are going to be awesome. All Lake City brass from the same lot. All weighed and sorted into boxes of 20 by weight. All resized and trimmed with cleaned primer pockets and deburred flash holes.

I get a woodie thinking about it.

Speaking of which...district manager for a large pharmacy chain told me that the company was so worried about 2008 that they didn't run any clearance sales on Christmas items last week; like they normally would. Why? They are holding them in inventory instead to sell next November; to save on shipping and inventory costs. Sucks if your job is manufacturing and shipping Christmas decorations...I'm sure they are NOT the only ones thinking like this...

C'mon Hon.

Nobody gave Huckabee a snowball's chance a week ago.

Then TwentyTwelve was right.

It was written a month ago!!

More than likely.

No one else could be convincingly promoted to winner in Iowa as it is a Bible Belt State.

Certainly not Ghouliani.

None of the others really.

Romney? A Mormon in Southern Baptist territory? I don't think so. Not even if he gave away his holy underwear.

CFRed was a loser except with the 'bots.

No, I am sure there were some major shenanigans with the vote.

It will be interesting to see what the Poll Watchers and Vote Canvassers have to report in the morning. I am sure there will be indications of widespread fraud, but the people controlling the enforcement arm are part of the fraud operation, and the Lamestream Media will go 24/7 saying "It's a Conspiracy Theory", it's sour grapes, "It's a Conspiracy Theory", it's sour grapes, "It's a Conspiracy Theory", it's sour grapes, "It's a Conspiracy Theory", it's sour grapes, "It's a Conspiracy Theory", it's sour grapes, "It's a Conspiracy Theory", it's sour grapes, "It's a Conspiracy Theory", it's sour grapes, "It's a Conspiracy Theory", it's sour grapes, "It's a Conspiracy Theory", it's sour grapes, etc., ...

sales on Christmas items last week; like they normally would. Why? They are holding them in inventory instead to sell next November; to save on shipping and inventory costs. Sucks if your job is manufacturing and shipping Christmas decorations...I'm sure they are NOT the only ones thinking like this...

I fully intend to be the first Freedom4um to post from Fiji, and maybe Australia.

I'll be spending just a few hours at Nadi (Fiji) on the way in to Brisbane the Gold Coast, but on the out bound trip I'll have six nights in Fiji.

About a one month trip.

From what my research indicates, freedom4um needs to buy a few acres of land in Fiji and set up a freedom colony.

Yertle Turtle knows how to live in tree stumps and has an excellent retirement plan so I suggest he be the leader of the colony.

I will post my experiences from the other hemisphere, I do have alot of family that I have treated very well in the US when they have visited, so I think I will be treated nicely.

I am thinking that Iowa is not really a state of 'our' union. There has to be an actual REASON, why such a goofy charade, exists.

I'm convinced they could not take instructions on putting a nickel in the gum machine and turning the knob.

I take it "they" are American voters.

With that attitude we will be losing elections far past my demise.

The American people vote with their hearts and their pocketbooks.

The typical voter is not a political junkie. He/she is wary of anger and quick fixes. Right now he/she is disatisfied and wants change. The typical Ron Paul supporter is angry (and I am one of them) and demanding change.

The majority of Americans are resistant to and fearful of radical change (i.e. quick fixes) otherwise we would have gone even further left during the Great Depression.

I'm not suggesting that we should not have pushed for a "revolution", just that we should go hunting with a rifle and not a blunderbuss.

The campaign so far has had as its focus converting America to libertarianism, not winning a national election. The result, if we fail to regroup, will be losing on both counts.

Gotta admire those brave Iowans who stood for Paul inspite of the pressure surrounding them to do otherwise.

Imagine the credibility of a such process in a precinct where teamsters rule. "uhmmm, you wanna think about that? Maybe you wanna rethink ya choice der eh bro?"

Here it looks like the evangicals were orchestrating the fauxcus.

A campaign is not a Political Science lecture.

A good response could have been something along the lines of:

"It is not the Federal Government's job to tell Farmers what crops to grow, and that is exactly what a subsidy does - it locks farmers into raising those crops which attract the highest subsidies out of someone else's pocket. It is unfair to the farmer and to the person whose pocket is being picked for the subsidy, and it is NOT one of the Federal Government's Constitutionally defined duties. I do favor lower taxes which do not penalize farmers for being successful."

Icon,

I may have mentioned I was in a 'mood'. I didn't mean to offend or discourage anyone. Just a little reactionary personal hissy fit. It does not take away my resolve to do all that I can.

You make some excellent points though. !!!!

I don't agree with you on one of them right now, but, it's food for thought, and I will give it that.

We won't fail to regroup.

I think all of this discussion makes us all stronger.

Afterall, we are in this together.

Good night I, and everybody!

You're a great "straight man".

That's sounds right out of Ron's (political science) play book.

Try this one on for size for a "contendah":

"I do not believe corn based ethanol is a good economic answer to the energy crisis (big Huckabee smile) but if I were your Congressman, I would most certainly forward your wishes to the floor in the form of a bill. (Another big Huckabee smile).

It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. There is a difference between a political answer and an honest answer. Ron Paul is what he is, and I am what I am. The reason I like him, and was a supporter long before this campaign was even hinted at, is that willingness to stand on principle and tell it the way it is.

Farm subsidies are not a favor to the farmer. It is nothing more than welfare farming. That suckers can't, or don't, get it is why they are suckers and will remain chattels. As long as you play to their ignorance they will remain ignorant. Of course one can't put is so bluntly, but you can only go so far and remain true to your principles.

The Bible Belt is not limited to the Confederacy.

This is a decidedly Christian nation. All vote seekers need to keep that in mind. Having said that, I further assert that your placement of Iowa in the Bible belt is a first for me.

And the Coach lovvvvvvvvved me. I am a killer Pass Rusher. Not quite as good against the run, but good enough to keep the other team honest. And I scored a Touchdown once playing Center - the ball was tipped and I recovered it in the End Zone by sliding in on my back and trapping it against my chest.

No. I can still see it in my minds eye - it was like everything was in slow motion - the Receiver and the Back went up fighting for the ball and it got tipped up, I was free from my block, and I don't know to this day how fast I moved through those ten yards to the End Zone but I did, but I could also see that I could not catch it before it hit the ground and that the only way was to get under it. The next thing you know there I am on my back under the ball and clutching it in to my chest. It is not something I'll ever forget - it is not everyday that the Center turns into a Receiver and scores a Touchdown. Pefectly legal too - once the ball was tipped by a defensive player it was a live ball - and my actions were as legal as Church on Sunday in the Bible Belt.

Point granted, and you are most correct - in that making someone wrong is not going to win their support - in most cases it'll just make'em stubborn.

I think buckeye has a point too - in that you could phrase eliminating subsidies as a positive - which I was trying to do.

I know though, realistically, that eliminating farm subsidies in the "Farm Belt" is about as popular as a Skunk at a Square Dance. However, all the subsidies do is reward farmers for an inefficient use of their time and land. I know farmers do not like to change crops, but if over production exists then, failing subsidies, they are forced to learn a new crop - or more than one.

Vast seems to be a man without a country. He is anti everything it seems.

This is so funny because I actually heard these very words when I was about 18 or 19 years old. They were uttered by a Communist activist. The context was myself and a bunch of my fellow students no longer being afraid by the implied threats and behaving as normal people in all circumstances, no matter what. Being anti all the BS that one was exposed to in a Commie universe came with that and doing so produced a lot of consternation and hatred. By the way, my first 'arrest' happened at the age of 7, for spitting on the black limo of a Commie official - my first 'anti-everything' public act.

Back to the topic. I am still waiting to hear more about RP's strategy of winning the US presidency by fist winning the GOP nomination. Is he going to win NH? SC? FL? CA? NY? PA? Does anyone have an estimated GOP delegates count, showing how RP wins the GOP nomination?

I already stated that the only (small) chance RP has to win the US presidency is by seeking the vote of the people, not that of the GOPs. If RP ran as in Indie, a 34% of the vote could have won him the presidency, in the context of Rudy/Hillary as his other 2 opponents. As a GOP, RP will get nothing and all this effort is going to be nothing but a waste.

By the way, the Ronbots have been very effective at trivializing his ideas too. Lately, all they talk about is the millions the RP campaign raised instead of having a thoughtful discussion of the GOP and Demo ideologies and contrast them with RP's views.

Other than his failing to win any and all the GOP primaries/caucuses and having his message trivialized to 'count the millions'? Hmmm... can't think of any.

I remember how Buchanan's message got trivialized, back in 2000, as his campaign spent all its energy fighting over control of Ross Perot's $60 million Reform Party booty. See how often these opportunities come? 8 years is a very long time in a mortal's life. The 2008 opportunity is being wasted now. Any guess as of when the next non-violent opportunity to end world hunger and bring about peace may present itself?

I am still waiting to hear more about RP's strategy of winning the US presidency by fist winning the GOP nomination.

Winning the presidency is not the only way Ron Paul can win. Just by raising his issues and airing them in debates, he has already won a major victory.

I just read a book about the 1912 election. Obviously, Teddy Roosevelt did not regain the presidency in that election. But a great many of the things he and the Progressives had put in their platform that year were enacted in the next few years by Woodrow Wilson and the Democratic Congress.

To reason, indeed, he was not in the habit of attending. His mode of arguing, if it is to be so called, was one not uncommon among dull and stubborn persons, who are accustomed to be surrounded by their inferiors. He asserted a proposition; and, as often as wiser people ventured respectfully to show that it was erroneous, he asserted it again, in exactly the same words, and conceived that, by doing so, he at once disposed of all objections. - Macaulay, "History of England," Vol. 1, Chapter 6, on James II.

Rep. Ron Paul vows to take GOP campaign to New Hampshire

Associated Press - January 4, 2008 12:04 AM ET

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Republican Ron Paul says his run for the White House is just beginning, despite a fifth-place finish in the Iowa caucuses.

The Texas congressman spoke to a boisterous crowd tonight that chanted "Live free or die" and "Ron Paul."

He answered the chants by saying -- "I am more encouraged than ever before."

Paul says he is encouraged he placed ahead of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Paul, a 10-term member of Congress, has waged an unusual campaign that matched his libertarian views with events involving a blimp and the re-enactment of the Boston Tea Party.

Paul opposes the Iraq war, opposes the federal income tax and urges Americans to push for a fiscally responsible government.

Sound like he's just getting started.

Winning the presidency is not the only way Ron Paul can win. Just by raising his issues and airing them in debates, he has already won a major victory.

You are exactly right. RP's lone voice was relatively unknown to the public. He has left us a guidebook to move forward no matter what happens. The world loves him too, and I would say, nothing has been wasted in spreading RP's message. I hope he continues to lead us all.

The message is so feared, the media blacks him out. Little fires are burning across the land. He is the most inspiring candidate I have ever seen.

Good to see someone is thinking beyond tomorrow.

Ron Paul win lose or draw is in a position to influence the future course of this country. Ross Perot walked away from 20 million Americans that were hungry for change.

It's so funny. Just as I thought. Now that reality is pinching you, instead of waking up to it, you change the 'win' discussion is not shifting to the 'education' thing. It's like those guys who buy the Penthouse for the nice interviews.

Shouldn't you get back to your older threads and recall what the talk there was about? By the way, if the education thing is what matters, why 75% of the RP talk is about the millions he raised and why do you bother to follow the caucuses and primaries returns?

Vast...

Let me phrase this in your terms... "I have always accepted that Ron Pauls chances of becoming President are zero".

That is reality and I would believe that most people accept that. That however does not allow me and most other Americans here to sit on the sidelines doing nothing. That is your option and welcome to it. Most of the good people here are made of sterner material.

Now, will you please show us your thinking post a Ron Paul failure???????

Why do you keep avoiding ADDING something to the discussion??? Anyone can be negative, it takes no great intellect, however discussing the future does require thinking.

(Palo) I didnt see this thread so I posted my two cents about the Iowa primary on another thread
here is is where it belonged
I'll copy it here

I think Ron Paul getting 10% in Iowa yesterday is very good
it is only 3% less than McCain and Fred Thompson

Ron Paul will do better in New Hampshire and even better in South Carolina

After that there will be momentum to win primaries

His campaign builds all the time

I know in my gut Ron Paul will be our President

I watched some of the coverage of Iowa on FOX last evening
What interested me most was when Brit Hume interviewed the Iowa political journalist,
who is expert on Iowa politics

The Iowa journalist said "money and a big campaign organization isn't what does it in Iowa
"Iowans like a message
"Huckabee gave them a message, which was populist
"Iowa voters don't want Wall Street running our country anymore,
"they want someone who will look out for the little guy"

This is a paraphrase and poor rendition

But basically he was saying Iowans don't want the same people running government
who have been there before,
they really do want a change, and change in direction
He said this is why they voted for Huckabee

It occurred to me Iowans may not have been that well-acquainted with Ron Paul,
since he offers them what they truly want

And if it is true that Iowans chose Huckabee for these reasons,
then it is very likely voters in other States will choose Ron Paul for these same reasons

They always used to say how Iowa votes is an emblem of how country feels
And it is immensely positive for the Ron Paul campaign, that the majority of our country
wants a change from the establishment and the establishment's way of doing things

All my love, Palo

PS (back on a political note)
It really did strike me when I heard that Iowa poltical journalist explain why Iowans voted for Huckabee
He said what message it was that Huckabee gave, that Iowans wanted

it really is what Ron Pal will give them
(and what Huckabee would never deliver on)

but it showed me what voters want now, and what they want is what Ron Paul offers
and will deliver on

Now is the time for Ron Paul to really get his message out to ALL
If media won't let him
he must use all that money supporters gave him to plaster TV with ads week before the Primaries
Good ads! So they know exactly who Ron Paul is, what he stands for,
what he wants and what he will do

We learn from the Iowa primary
that all voters need is to know Ron Paul, and they will vote for him

and I do thnk how Iowa voters think is emblem of the country
Love, Palo

to sum it up, we learned from Iowa primary what voters want
and what they want is what Ron Paul will give them
how can this not be great news for us
we just have to let all voters know Ron Paul

The campaign so far has had as its focus converting America to libertarianism, not winning a national election.

Good morning I.

I've been thinking about this comment all night. Do you really think that's what it was?

I was glad RP took the time to educate or re-educate people with the Constitution, and what freedom and liberty actually mean. The government OUT of your beeswax. So, I didn't feel I was being Libertarianized. It wasn't political, it was a freeing message. Drawing in people stuck in the left/right camp that had no place to go.

And it is a good thought, and one with which I agree. The point is not any particular dogma whether it is labeled "libertarian" or otherwise. The message is the same one Thomas Jefferson offered - Liberty and a government bound from mischief with firm constraints.

Anyone not interested in that message is not interested in being free. Whether someone is an Iowa Farmer or a City Slicker the point remains unchanged. Taking money from one person forcibly to give to another is still theft - whether one uses the government to do it or the old fashioned way at gun point.

Either Americans are interested in holding their heads up and walking the walk of the free man or they are willing to trade their liberty for chains and the illusion that they are "being taken care of".

Given that - a lot of what they know to be true ain't.

Glad to hear your comments. I was wondering what you would say about his showings.

My initial hope a couple of weeks ago was that he would do only okay in Iowa, thus throwing off-guard his neocon msm detractors, but would then would astound the pundits with him pulling first or second in New Hampshire and beyond. I hope this is the case.

In any event, Paul has two delegates so far for the convention, and unlike most Republican delegates, are unlikely to change their votes to accommodate any of the other candidates, causing possible gridlock at the convention (it's either Ron Paul or nobody). Stay tuned.

Jan 8 will have me glued to the computer/tv. I'll be off from work and it's also my birthday. A Ron Paul victory will be the best present in years.

Iowa Straw Poll Results (Augusts 11, 2007)

Mitt Romney Wins Iowa Straw Poll

With attendance of 33,000 and votes cast by more than 14,000, Republican party officials called the 2007 Iowa Straw Poll a resounding success. No one was more pleased than Governor Mitt Romney who received 4,516 votes to win the Straw Poll.

In second place Governor Mike Huckabee earned 2,587 votes and was followed by Senator Sam Brownback who received 2,192 ballots cast in his favor. In a close fourth, U.S. Representative Tom Tancredo received 1,961 votes. In fifth place was U.S. Representative Ron Paul with 1,305. Governor Tommy Thompson finished in sixth place with 1,029 votes and was followed by seventh place finisher, and undeclared candidate, Fred Thompson who had 203 votes cast for him. Mayor Rudy Giuliani received 183 votes for eighth place followed by U.S. Representative Duncan Hunter in ninth place with 174 votes. Senator John McCain, in 10th position, got 101 votes. And finishing last with 41 votes was John Cox.

"Reports of the demise of the Iowa Straw Poll were premature and proven false today," stated Ray Hoffmann, chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa. "Activists turned out in great numbers to support their candidates despite a heat index exceeding 100 degrees. The atmosphere here rivaled that of the State Fair."

New voting procedures were in place at the Iowa Straw Poll which required presentation and validation of a photo ID along with a ticket. "Iowans proudly stepped up to meet our voting requirements," Chuck Laudner, executive director of the Republican Party of Iowa, remarked. "To see more than 14,000 purple thumbs on this campus was thrilling."

With theses new voting procedures in place, party officials were confident all votes were cast by Iowans only. "Tickets were punched then scanned along with photo IDs," Laudner explained. "Our process guaranteed the one person, one vote ideal was upheld. We believe photo identification should be required before any vote is cast in Iowa elections and today we proved the process was not only possible, it was effective and efficient."

The Iowa Straw Poll continues a decades' long tradition of testing candidates' organizational strength, bringing likely caucus-goers together, and winnowing the field. In the 1999 caucus, 89,000 participated. Today's Straw Poll vote tally represents more than 15 percent of that total, the most representative sample of likely voters' opinions, Laudner concluded.

Not true. The Paulbots claim that the reason RP is running in the GOP primaries is because the GOP is the vehicle for him winning the presidency. Of course, they are going to do a 180 now and state that RP is only making all this noise to 'educate' the consumers.

It's quite pathetic, if you make an effort to think about it.

What upsets me is not the fact that RP has 'zero chances' to win the presidency but the fact that he actually had a chance to win it and it all went down to waste because he stayed with one of the 2 criminal political 2-parties. It's a huge waste.

As for the educating of the consumers... a dozen 30-second sound-bites on the teevee does not educate a consumer. Want to educate the people? Write a book.

Well, if you want me to predict the future it's... plastics, for as long as we can get the hydrocarbs to make them. Or, maybe genetic engineering so that our offspring could be more like lions than like dogs or cows. Or maybe there CAN be a new frontier, somewhere in space.

The most plausible post-Ron Paul future, IMHO, it's a world increasingly maintained by robotic devices - just got the Missus a robotic vacuum cleaner for Xmas - while humans immerse themselves into VR games and get so fat and real-world-lazy, they can no longer move. If the humes die off before the bots get self-sufficient, then it's the end of it. If the bots are capable of self-maintenance and self-improvement before the last human kicks the bucket then... why would they take advantage of such capability anyway. Unless... they find religion.

In my heart, I'm with you here.

I believe in and have seen some small miracles with respect to RP's campaign and the people supporting it.

Then there is my mind. My nagging mind. Always incredulous why people still go to movies where the young girl goes in to check out a weird sound in an old abandoned house, after finding something dead on the porch. Or something like that.

A part of this brain of mine says, the PTB are pushing the public into a corner to goad them into revolt. Then plans laid to deal with such can be put into action.

If people simply wake up, channelling it towards peaceful revolution would seem to be the best response.

A Ron Paul victory will be the best present in years

Happy birthday darling, I wish you a wonderful birthday and a wonderful year

Right now I'm guessing Ron Paul will come in 4th in New Hampshire
way too many people have moved to that State for "live free or die" to mean anything to them
naturally I hope I am wrong, I would love a Ron Paul win there

altho oddly enough I think South Carolina is looking good for Ron
I see him coming in 3rd there
and then starting to win primaries...

Love, Palo

I am still convinced this time next year he will be in our Oval Office

GO RON GO!!!

If people simply wake up, channelling it towards peaceful revolution would seem to be the best response.

I would tend to agree. At this point they, the NWO/Rothschilds/Rockefellers, have enough of their Police State apparatus in place that an armed insurrection would be very very very bloody. We might well prevail but the cost would likely be staggering. Better if we can do this peacefully. However, they are psychotics and will not give up their death grip willingly.

I want to make sure that when people promise that they're in this for the long haul, that they realize that it may take 9 more years to elect a freedom candidate if RP isn't elected. RP supporters need to make ties with each other that are LASTING. Get names and phone numbers. Exchange Christmas cards. Meet for ball games and barbecues. Get your families together. Start businesses together.

Remember how to do what we're doing now always, and keep talking. Don't let any setbacks slow down the momentum.

I am content with how the Iowa voters did
they voted for the message
I was stunned when the Iowa political journalist gave Huckabee's message,
because a lot of it is Ron Paul's
Huckabee would never deliver on it
Ron Paul will
So all Ron has to do is get out his message to ALL

A Huckabee win, would not change a thing
government would continue to be run for special interests
Only President Ron Paul will represent citizens and their interests
we must have him in our Oval Office

I think all of this is way bigger than we are. The important thing for me is to know that as long as I am pressing for freedom some way, some how, I can be satisfied that I'm doing something. Anything is better than being cynical and discouraged.

I actually think this is a normal state of existence for any human being at any point in history. The forces of tyranny come from within our natures, and are in each of us, every day. Without continual defense, liberty will always be easily overcome -- even by the very efforts being used to defend it (as we've seen after 9/11).

What setback have we had?
20-20 hindsight we could have done better in Iowa if Ron Paul ads
had been plastered all over TV 24/7 week before Primary
Did we know Iowans vote for the message, not the candidate with the money and the organization
Now we know it
Iowans are perfect emblem of citizens of USA
they too will vote for the message, not the moeny or organization
SO WE ARE ALL SET
ALL SYSTEMS ARE ON GO!!
We just have to make sure all hear Ron Paul's message now

Dear Palo - OI and I are talking about learning from our process, which is working. We're optimistic about LONG TERM change even beyond Ron Paul's career because we see that what we're doing is WORKING. That's optimistic. And it's more important than just one man's election.

I do not think that ads would have worked. The public believes that the news media are on their side, on the side of freedom. If they do not hear about Ron Paul on every channel, in each news broadcast, being interviewed and cross-examined by trusted thinkers, they will assume that he is a crank. That wouldn't be changed by expensive ads.

Ron Paul needs to start making his own news, gathering his own intellectuals together, and having them interview him with questions that make sense. This 10% support in the Iowa caucus means that he has a few days to do this.

Buckeye,

Since we are digging in to our day of reflection here, I came upon a similar thought.

As technologically advanced as the RP volunteer team is and was, it did not seem to reach the old tech crowd (so to speak). So, your point is right. Ron Pauls strategy must include outreach at every level.

And to a point by Robin earlier, some of his messages need to be fine tuned and simplified. Concise and understandable.

Goober proof.

I have been prayng ceaselessly, and I will not stop until he is in our Oval Office this time next year
I admit it will take a lot of miracles to put him there
But it took a lot of miracles for our country to be born in the first place
I am sure appearances were against it when it was first conceived

my latest thought is it is impossble to prevent Ron Paul from winning
because there is an ocean of support for him out there
and you can't stop an ocean

He is the only one who represents citizens
100,000 people gave money because of this
for each one who gave money there are 50 who want Ron Paul to be president just as badly
but did not give money
(help in other ways)
this is a lot of people
and there are more each day

we all have to put our minds together tho, about winning elections
the politicl class is so expert at this
we are so new at it

what happened in Iowa is fine, if we can learn every scrap of information which can be learned from it
I wish I was better at this
but we have all our minds to join, we can learn from each other
together we can be smart even if I can't on my own

If you want to pray for something, pray to help us figure out how to focus the media on Ron Paul effectively and positively, without games, and without impropriety.

The media is controlled by a small number of corporations, and operated by managers/editors/producers who are often CFR members and members of other elite think tanks that have staked their whole programs on preventing a Ron Paul from being elected.

Are we an intelligent enough electorate to deal with this?

If people simply wake up, channelling it towards peaceful revolution would seem to be the best response.

Please pay attention to this: Obama and Huckabee have alerted the media that they ARE the revolution. Do you understand this? I came to understand this sinister effect on TOS. People are led to believe that the "MSM" is in charge, and that small pockets of resistance (e.g. TOS) are leading the velvet junta to throw off the chains. Splinters of leadership are broken away from the "Establishment" to resurface behind these new "movements." They are fake. But they work. People still at TOS think they're the vast right wing conspiracy.

How do the elites do this? Well how do they keep one of these splinters alive? The use fear, uncertainty, doubt, religious appeal, and heart-strings appeals. No doubt they have industrial psychologists advising Obama and Huckabee right now on this very ploy.

People will actually vote for Huckabee because they are worried about immigration and he promises to do something about it. I am not kidding!

Are we intelligent enough to counter this form of manipulation honestly?

(Palo) there is an ocean of support for Ron Paul out there

(buckeye) Palo dear, I believe that like I believe in the Age of Aquarius.

LOL just because I am new age doesn't mean I am a ditz :)
I gave my grounds for an ocean of support for Ron Paul
what is the latest statistic of those who donated money?
something like 114,000 people, it could be higher now
I explained for each one who gave cold hard cash, there are 50 who support him just as passonately who didn't
not everyone has extra cash right now

added to that number, and that must be millions

are those who really like Ron Paul and will vote for him in the general election but will not lift a finger to do much else
(I have some friends in that category)

also let's not forget about critical mass
this is how critical mass works

"Some people assume that critical mass is one more than half, but it is not.
Nor is it 25 percent of the whole, nor even 10 percent of the whole, nor even 5 percent of the whole.
Critical mass is reached when 2 to 4 percent of the whole is affected.

''Watch the surface of water as it's brought to a boil.
The boiling point is not reached at the point when over half of the surface is bubbling, but long before.
The effect of critical mass is exponential.
That's what makes it so powerful.
A few bubbles break the surface of the water... then, in a sudden rush, all of the water is boiling.''

I think so.

I hadn't heard this, but I had heard about Huck stealing RP's message.

First, this whole process is a show to keep the sheep believing in a two-party system.

I can see where this is leading and it isn't going to be pretty. The fact that I too am a non-violent peaceful sort, doesn't mean I'm going to put my head between my knees and kiss my butt goodbye. I prefer a peaceful world and there is no harm in working as hard as possible to bring about change no matter how small, through it.

We are used to practicing war. We are not used to practicing Peace. So we stick to what is familiar, yet creates the most carnage. There is a better way, but we must also work to learn how to get to levers that can create it.

I know people will think that is an absolutely nutty position to take. But it hurts no one to try.

Yes, I agree. I think Ron Paul's campaign (and we independently) need to show that there are simple, if not a little difficult, steps to take to change the country for the better that will not be done under any other candidacy.

1. Show the people that the "media-backed rebels" are false.
2. Show the people that Ron Paul has a non-revolutionary set of changes that are positive, and that he's honest.

I don't know what else to do, but this should help.

Hi palo,

Most of the Ron Paul meetups I've attended involved holding signs and passing out slim-jims (campaign fliers). We get a good response, maybe one in thirty will honk, and maybe one in one hundred will wave and shout in approval.

First, this whole process is a show to keep the sheep believing in a two-party system.

How would you approach #1?

As for #2, I think we already have a very good guide to work from, and RP's record stands solid.

#507. To: buckeye, Peppa, who knows what evil, ALL (#500)

Tancredo was the anti-immigration candidate and he got nowhere
so that issue is not decisive in this election

I am not concerned right now that Obama is being billed as the anti- establishment candidate
I will deal with that when Ron Paul has to run against Obama in general election

What we found out in Iowa is all voters now want the anti-establishment candidate
(both Dem and Pub voters)
We know Ron Paul is the only real McCoy

We knew from the get-go media would not help us, and would do everything in their power to sabotage us
We would be foolish to expect anything from the media now
they won't help us

So it comes down to Ron Paul has to get out his message to ALL
because we found out voters want that message and will want him
Love, Palo

I don't know what we can do to help Ron Paul get out his message
it was thought giving him all the money would do it
but obviously it isn't doing it
because the money has to be used to get out his message effectively to ALL
and we don't know if his campaign staff has the talent to do that

I have no talent in this department
but others do
they should post their two cents
and post it on the Ron Paul official site too

that site links to DIGG

I just wish I could help in the brainstorming of how his message could reach everyone
but there are others on this forum who do have good ideas on this
I have read their posts
Peppa has some good ideas, and who knows what evil has good ideas too
and so do many others
I am the only one who is not good at this...

Well as I've said, ads are not going to work because the people expect to be told about their candidates by talk programs on TV and radio. And guess who owns that? But here's the general idea:

Huckabee or Ron Paul??

This video beats around the bush, though. It should QUOTE Huckabee saying that he's not linked to the elites or the establishment, and then show that taxes are FOR the Establishment, and FOR elite agendas.

Huckabee is really Anyone But Ron Paul, so when he speaks of dismantling the IRS the smart GOP operatives see this as a way to co-opt free thinking.

Tancredo was the anti-immigration candidate and he got nowhere so that issue is not decisive in this election

You're wrong about this Palo. Americans are very afraid of illegal immigration. Their fears are easy to use against them though. Consider the fear that was raised about terrorism after 9/11. Americans decided to give Bush a pass on the Iraq invasion, which would not prevent any future terror, and might have encouraged more. See the pattern? Illegal immigration has been tolerated by the Establishment much to the harm of America. Yet the very fears it has raised will be easily coopted by the splinter "pseudo-rebels."

You and I know that Ron Paul's views of illegal immigration are more sophisticated than that, and he wants to solve the problem with real economic reforms. Again, the proper formula is to go on the attack. Change the debate! Point out that someone is stealing the terms of the debate, if necessary.

We would be foolish to expect anything from the media now

This is wrong, Palo. Without the media, your true peaceful revolution will not happen. You can take that to the bank. But we have something on our side. It's a secret weapon. And you are one of the best people to wield it. Journalists and educators love to think that they are very fair. I heard Gretta Sustern complaining that she thought that Ron Paul deserved airtime, and that was the American way. We used to think of ourselves as a very fair people, before your time. We still are, and journalists go into their fields to uphold these values. Someone else comes along and takes that love away from them.

We can awaken it.

I think you are a MASTER at awakening a sense of fairness in people. I'm going to give you an assignment, if you are willing to accept. Why don't you pick three top journalistic media personalities each of whom you believe has a strain of fairness, or the potential to have it awakened, and make it your personal mission to contact their offices with the idea of persuading them to give Ron Paul effective, honest, and critical coverage? No need for their flattery. No need for them to hide anything. Just give him coverage.

I think you can do it.

the second inisght is Ron Paul is the only candidate who cannot be bought off
this is crucial, because it is the one thing needed

it is important what you say about Ron Paul's honesty

I personally don't think it is possible to show anyone anything
I am going by my own experience on this
I was unwilling to be shown anything by anyone
I had to be willing to see it on my own
but once I was willing to see truth, it jumped out at me, it couldn't be missed

That vid is outstanding and heartbreaking. Whoever put it together did an excellent job. It does drag, so how can this be reassembled for max impact to match the attention span of voters. That's the question. I like a total picture of his record, but in snapshots rather than novel form. A few alternate versions of the same with added information.

I can almost see it in my mind with a Huck v Paul bullet to bullet montage (I hate that word). But the imagery behind it can carry the message farther than the words.

I'm thinking.

Brit Hume is honest and fair
I don't know if I can get his ear again, I bombarded him with emails last week
when Ron Paul was excluded from the Fox GOP debate on January 6th
Has Fox reversed that decision yet?

Altho in the midde of the bombardment of emails about this, I did say to him that he gives the best interviews of everyone
and I would very much like him to interview Ron Paul

Brit Hume is the news director at Fox
he is fair, he is honest

I don't know who else to write to, because so many of the others lost my trust during the clinton Impeachment
Only Brit Hume held onto it

Of course I have not watched TV since I went on net in Jan 2000
I became addicted to posting on political forums
maybe there are are new journalists around who are honest and trustworthy

Big media, both Parties, and the military industrial complex are all in bed with each other

after that I stopped wasting my breath

when I tried to stop the bombing of Yugoslavia, again I wrote letters (snail mail) every day

I support Ron Paul for the Republican nomination and can't say much at this point as I am the one who derailed Nader's initiative petition campaign by exposing fraud by some of the petioners who were being paid to get Ralph to get on the ballot in Oregon. Allot of people at that building the petition campaign contractor was located in knew about some of the tricks and scams.

I was the only one who patiently documented as many of them I could and got the information to the right people. Believe it or not, I am an effective, real life activist. But don't hold it against me please. ;-)

People I know lurk my posts, and I am trying to get along with my fellow Pacific Greens so I am not going to jump in and say exactly how I feel right now about various people.

Other then to say Paul is the only qualified Republican canidate, and I most closely agree politically with Dennis Kucinich.

I figured as much. Makes perfect sense. I'm having a problem. There's a girl about 24 with whom we've been friends since she was 3. Lives in Bay Area California. Typical liberal urban schooling, UC graduate, parents lower middle class. 1/2 upper middle class jewish grandparents. Seems pretty aware of many issues, well travelled.

She's supporting the Dems because they aren't the Pubs, regardless of the candidate. Actually she wants Kucinich. Doesn't want to discuss or hear anything about Paul because he's pub and anti-abortion. The war, altho bad, is the fault of the pubs.

More the reality of it, to me, is that she is fukked. She can't get a job unless it's funded by the government because private industry in the areas in which she's interested don't exist (organic agriculture). She doesn't have a job. Finishing Master's degree. College loans, still lives with parents. Has never held a 40 hour per week gig for more than 2 months and that was only once.

Therefore, she instinctively knows that her only option is to support the socialist candidate because otherwise, she has no future. I think that's the belief of many liberals who support the dems. They have to have it, no matter if it causes genocide, environmental pollution or class/race warfare; all the things they like to believe they're against.

How do you reconcile the erroneous "Paul = Republican Neo Con" to people in that circle?

(buckeye) I just watched Bill Moyers interviewing Ron Paul.
When you can watch streaming video of this, if it's uploaded, please do.
It was a great interview, one of the best!

Ron Paul was followed by Dennis Kucinich.
Bill Moyers asked similar questions, and the focus was on media reform.
Of course the two leaders had different views; one collectivist, the other free market.

It was a great interview, one of the best!

Wow Buckeye what a lovely post to wake up to
Sun has not yet risen in Tucson
I want to see the interview, I want to see both
Thank you very much for telling me about it
Mega thanks to Bill Moyers for doing it
Love, Palo

'Neocon' is erroneous (and I doubt that anyone believes that RP is a neocon) but 'Republican' is not. He declared repeatedly that he wishes to stay inside the big tent of the awfully disgusting GOPs. I know, he disagrees with the GOPs more than he agrees with them but, for some incomprehensible reason, he wishes to stay with the party of Giuliani, W Bush and Scooter Libby.

Like my Chinese friend would say if he heard of this: "vely, vely, stlange".

Antiparty - find out why, think about 'how'

He's an outsider who wants to be an insider

Exactly. And he, like Bill Clinton before him, will do anything to become one.
