LOS ANGELES - Police were called to Britney Spears' home in a custodial dispute that lasted nearly three hours before an intoxicated Spears reportedly turned over her children to ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Officers were called to the home around 8 p.m. Thursday, and the 26-year-old singer turned over the children around 10:50 p.m., Officer Jason Lee, a police spokesman, told City News Service.

Aerial footage from KTLA-TV showed Spears being lifted in a gurney into an ambulance. It was unclear where she was being taken.

Lee said Spears was under the influence of an unknown substance, and no injuries were reported.

The incident involved a family dispute that police worked to resolve "peacefully by court order," he said.

An Associated Press photographer outside the gated community that includes Spears' house saw six police cars, an ambulance and a fire truck enter around 10:30 p.m. A dispatcher with the fire department referred calls to the police department.

Spears and Federline are fighting over custody of their sons, 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James.

Federline, 29, has temporary custody of the children because Spears, who has limited visitation rights, has defied court orders. The two were married in October 2004 and divorced in July.

Calls to attorneys for Federline and Spears were not immediately returned.

Standoff follows deposition

Earlier Thursday, the singer appeared for a deposition in the custody dispute.

She was deposed for just 14 minutes, attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told reporters after she left.

Britney Spears' white Mercedes-Benz is chased by photographers as she leaves an office building housing the offices of ex-husband Kevin Federline's attorney. TMZ reports that the pop star was late and sat for just 13 minutes of the deposition before leaving.

Spears called in sick for a Dec. 12 court-ordered deposition, but was photographed that day driving with a friend. She also didn't show up for a session Wednesday, Kaplan said.

Spears' attorneys from the firm Trope and Trope on Wednesday filed a court motion asking to be relieved due to a "breakdown" in communication with their client.

Kaplan said Spears' attorneys were present for what became a very abbreviated session.

"The deposition proceeding did go forward today. It was scheduled for 9:45 to 11:45," Kaplan said. "However, it wasn't able to commence until 11:32."

"You can imagine in 14 minutes there's not a lot of time to develop questions," he said.

Kaplan said another deposition would be scheduled.

Britney Spears Wheeled to Ambulance on a Gurney

Posted on January 4, 2008 at 12:02 am (PST) | No Comments

Britney Spears was just wheeled out of her home on a gurney by paramedics.

Britney is being taken to a local hospital on a "medical hold." This means Britney is being held for an involuntary mental health evaluation. Cops said Britney was “under the influence of an unknown substance.” Probably because she was acting crazy, so they would like to believe it was the drugs that made her act that way, however, they sent her for a mental health evaluation just to be on the safe side.

Mental health professionals can hold a person against their will for up to 72 hours while they evaluate them. A personal can be sent for an involuntary mental health evaluation if the person threatens to harm themselves, another person, or property.

Britney Spears is in big trouble. Mark Vincent Kaplan is going to have an emergency hearing to put more restrictions on Britney’s custody rights after all this went down. TMZ reports:

LAPD has been called to Britney Spears’ house in Beverly Hills for what we’re being told is a "family custody dispute."

LAPD tells us the call came in around 8:00 PM PT this evening, but they would not tell us who made the call or what the specific problem was. Officers, we’re told, are still on scene.

Spears, who was nearly two hours late for today’s scheduled deposition in her custody case, was reportedly scheduled to have her sons tonight until 7:00 PM.

Us is reporting K-Fed’s bodyguards went to pick up Sean and Jayden at Britney’s home this evening after her scheduled visitation, but Spears refused to turn the kids over. Police were then called. Britney’s soon-to-be ex- attorney Sorrell Trope told the mag, "In a normal case when someone shows up with a certified court order saying the kids need to be somewhere else, the police see to it that the order is obeyed. But that is in a normal case."

Another ambulance, more fire trucks and several additional police cars have just rolled up to Britney’s house. One person on the ground described the situation to us as "scary."

TMZ is at Britney’s house in Beverly Hills as several more police cars, fire trucks, an ambulance and a police chopper have now all descended on the popwreck’s humble abode. Don’t let ’em git me!!

We’ve learned Spears has refused to turn her two sons back over to their daddy tonight, as ordered by the court. LAPD tells us they’ve been called to the home to deal with the family custody dispute.

Sources confirm to TMZ that K-Fed’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan was at Britney’s home earlier, but has since left.

Britney needs to listen to her lawyers, but she won’t because she knows everything.

LAPD Officer Lee says that police are trying to resolve the family custodial issue. Mark Vincent Kaplan and Anne Kiley were present at Britney’s house and said Britney was “hysterical and just wants to keep the kids overnight.”

Sources told Page Six, "someone is being transferred to the hospital for a mental evaluation." Mental health professionals can hold a person against their will for up to 72 hours while they evaluate them. A personal can be sent for an involuntary mental health evaluation if the person threatens to harm themselves, another person, or property.

The kids are safe, and back in Kevin Federline’s custody. Cops said Britney was “under the influence of an unknown substance.” The commissioner will not be happy.

Sad commentary.

"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take it away from them, and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money ." --- Josiah Stamp
