Is anyone aware of this? I didn't turn on the news today, only heard some talk on C-Span as I was waking up. Is there any coverage?

Weird.

Isn't Wyoming still in the USA? I mean... it's not Guam or the US Virgin Islands, right?

Antiparty - find out why, think about 'how'

What's at stake: 12 of the state's 14 delegates. AP: Wyoming Republicans have tried to keep Saturday's county conventions relevant by sending all 12 delegates chosen to the national convention. They will hold back all but two that were chosen at the state convention in May.

Usually the state would have 27 delegates to the convention, but the national Republican party punished the state for having their caucus so early by taking away half the state's total.

By comparison, 40 were at stake in Iowa.

Planet Jackson Hole: Are there clear frontrunners now, two days before the caucus?

Joe Schloss: I will say that in the state, and particularly in Teton County, we’ve only had two very active campaigns. One has been Mitt Romney’s and one has been Ron Paul’s.

Good Old Tom, providing the good news.

"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take it away from them, and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money ." --- Josiah Stamp

from Nick Bradley at lrcdlog;

The major news outlets will not be tracking the results, but they will be available live at the Wyoming GOP website. If it's any indication of the media balckout of the event, the WY GOP is trying to have all the results in by 3 pm so that the New York Times can run the results in the morning!

OK folks, if Ron Paul isn't winning in the sticks, the campaign is in need of official reform.

Just remember that these folks get their news from talk radio and FOX.

Ron Paul Reminder: Wyoming

-Carlsbad Current Argus

CHEYENNE — It's been overlooked in the hoopla surrounding Thursday's Iowa caucuses and next week's New Hampshire primary, but Wyoming Republicans will caucus Saturday at county conventions.

Candidates have paid little attention to the state. Only Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter and Ron Paul have visited since September. There has been no polling, so a front-runner is not known. Results of the GOP precinct caucuses last month showed no clear winner.

I wish they would give the vote tallies as well. RP may be 2nd in all of those, who knows.

But you're right, he has to win some of these.

Wyoming Party Hacks Reject Ron Paul

Posted by Eric A. Garris at January 5, 2008 02:45 PM

Wyoming GOP county conventions gave their delegates to Romney, Thompson, McCain, and Hunter. But Ron Paul never stood a chance there.

We shouldn't have expected anything from Wyoming. Most observers didn't understand the rules.

The Wyoming county conventions were NOT open to Republican voters. Eligible delegates consisted of only two groups: Republican party officials who were elected in 2006; and delegates who were appointed (by established precinct organizations) to fill empty delegate seats.

There was little chance for new party activists to participate in this process, only old-timers made the choice.

Can someone please explain to me, clearly and concisely, just exactly what goes on in the nominating process?

I honestly don't have an idea how this works.

I have been perplexed by the RP2008 campaign asking people to volunteer to be RP delegates here in NY.

I always thought there were GOP delegates, and based on the results of the primary ballots those delegates were given to whomever won, or divided up among the candidates based on their finish.

Am I wrong? Cuz it is looking as though if a candidate has none of his own delegate volunteers, he can't win any delegates, regardless of his finish. Is this correct?

Wyoming's system is a throwback to the old days of backroom nominations. There was little chance for new party activists to participate in this process, only old-timers made the choice.
