NH GOP drops sponsorship of FOX debate Email|Link By James Pindell January 5, 2008 11:26 AM The New Hampshire Republican Party dropped their affiliation with a Republican debate sponsored by Fox News tomorrow night because they have limited the number of candidates that can participate. “The first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary serves a national purpose by giving all candidates an equal opportunity on a level playing field," said Republican chair Fergus Cullen. "Only in New Hampshire do lesser known, lesser funded underdogs have a fighting chance to establish themselves as national figures." The Fox debate is excluding Texas Congressman Ron Paul even though he polls higher in New Hampshire and has raised significantly more money, and is campaigning more in New Hampshire than Fred Thompson who is invited.

The authors claimed that, in 1990, Jake Cherry left his wife to marry Deng after his wife found photos her husband had taken of Deng in a Guangzhou hotel room. Four months through their marriage, the article said, Jake Cherry asked Deng to leave when he found out she had been seeing another man. Subsequently, several other news outlets carried or made reference to the Wall Street Journal article. The Murdochs have denounced these rumours as "malicious nonsense."[2] In 2007, Deng's current husband, Rupert Murdoch, bought the Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones.[3]

Deng was born and raised in Xuzhou, Jiangsu.[1] She attended the local Xuzhou No. 1 Middle School. During high school, Deng's father relocated to Guangzhou to work at the People's Machinery Works, whilst Deng remained behind for a short while. Afterwards Deng joined her father in Guangzhou, and began medical studies. In 1987, at the age of 18, she met Jake Cherry (who is 30 years older than Deng), an American working for Guangzhou Engineering Factory, and his wife Joyce Cherry, who started teaching Deng English. In 1988 Mr. and Mrs. Cherry sponsored a student visa for Deng and she moved to America to live with the Cherrys and to study at California State University.
